Chapter 117: Jaw-Dropping Announcement

"Drive home, I can't reach him," I said.

"But why?" he asked, his brow furrowed. I took a deep breath before responding, "I no longer have his number. I got rid of everything that concerns him."

The words hung in the air, a testament to my determination to move on and leave the past behind. Eric nodded understandingly and returned his focus to the road ahead.

As we turned into the estate, the car that had been trailing us came to a halt, then reversed and sped away into the night.

Seeing that, I let out a sigh of relief, my hand on my chest. "Phew, that was a close call!" I exclaimed, smiling at Eric. But his expression remained serious.

"Are you supposed to be happy?" he asked. I realized my mistake. "Why not?" I replied, my smile faltering. "The car had just followed us home, now whoever it was knows where we live. I hope they don't come back and catch us off guard." Eric said. "We need to be vigilant," he advised bringing the car to a halt.
