56. A puzzle

Once inside the dining room, an appreciative hum leaped out of me involuntarily. “It smells delicious in here.” Upon closer inspection, I widened my eyes in delight, “Lasagne?”

Seeming to have accomplished his mission, he gave me a satisfied smile, “I was aware that it’s your favorite dish.”

I remember sharing that bit of information to Natalie last week when I had dinner with the both of them, but back then, I hardly thought he was paying any attention to such details. A heartfelt smile tugged at my lips at the realization that he indeed put in the effort to know everything about me. He pulled the chair for me to get seated in before he opted for the one right across me. He paired the dish with some wine, and I thought food never tasted any better.

“It’s delicious.” I said, relishing the taste of the tender chicken in my mouth.
