Marcus just finished speaking to someone on call as I peeled my earrings away from my skin. I watched from the corner of my eyes as he shut the door to the balcony behind him before he started approaching me. I placed all the jewelry back in a box before I placed it on the desk, and right when I was about to get up from my seat, I felt Marcus reach me. He forced me to face him as he kneeled down beside me, turning my seat toward him.
“That was Hugh on the call.” He said, “We got that bastard.”
I stared absentmindedly ahead of myself, unaware of what to do with that information.
