174. Like never before

I hadn’t noticed the time, but it was late by the time we found sleep. When I woke up in the midst of the night to quench my thirst, I’d noticed that it was in the early hours of the morning. However, the mattress beside me was empty and I could’t find Marcus’ phone on the desk either. I frowned to myself. Where could he have gone?

I quickly went for my phone and shot him a message. I didn’t want to call him in case he was away for important work and my call would only pose a disturbance to him. If he didn’t reply soon, I would have no choice but to ring him to ensure he was safe. 

‘Where are you?’ I texted and waited a good two minutes before my phone rang in my hands.
