Alex pov

I wasn’t supposed to feel this way.

He wasn’t mine to want, in the first place.

And yet, the pain was real.

I felt like the walls were closing in on me, the sound of their voices still echoing in my mind. My fingers trembled as I wiped my eyes, brushing away the hot tears that betrayed my resolve.

I couldn’t stay there. I couldn’t bear to listen to another moment.

The world outside felt colder than it had just moments ago, as if the air itself knew the storm brewing inside me. My steps faltered as I wandered aimlessly through the hallways.

Andrian and June.

It wasn’t just a crush anymore. It was a brutal reminder of where I stood in his world, a forgotten piece of trash. Always on the outside, looking in.

This was real.

And it was high time I stopped fooling myself, stopped clinging to the illusion that the Jacob I’d met, the boy with the soft laugh and kind eyes, was the same Andrian who now treated me like I don't exist. I couldn’t imagine the dist

He leaned casually against the doorframe, his arms crossed as he studied me. “I could ask you the same thing. Look around this place. I came to take a shot.” His tone was light, almost teasing, but it only fueled my frustration. But I couldn’t help but look around at the shed. There were rows of packs of cigars and lighters arranged on the desk close to the wall. The walls were filled with posters of rock stars and famous artists. The decor of the room was plain, but it was a hideout. But for who. Fear crept inside me. “Are you stalking me?” I snapped, rising to my feet. “Because if you are, you can forget it. I don’t need your pity or your fake concern.” “Whoa, relax,” he said, raising his hands in mock surrender. “I’m not stalking you. I just happened to notice you running out of the school like your life depended on i

Alex pov The morning sun streamed into my room, mocking me with its warmth and brightness. I pulled the blanket over my head, wishing I could disappear. My chest still ached with the weight of humiliation, and the memory of yesterday haunted me. Andrian’s smirk, the crowd’s laughter, the whispers, they all played on a loop in my head. “Alex?” My mom’s voice drifted in softly, followed by a gentle knock. I didn’t answer. I couldn’t. I didn’t want to see anybody, especially my mother. “Alex, I’m coming in.” The door creaked open, and her footsteps stopped just inside. “You’ve been in here all morning. You’re going to be late for school.” “I’m not going,” I muttered, my voice muffled by the pillow. “Alex, you can’t just…” “I said I am not going mum, just drop it” “Alexi, what happened? Did anybody hurt you or bully you…” she was saying “Mom, please!” I snapped, my words sharper than I intended. “Just leave me alone! I don't need you breathing down my neck!!” Silence stre

  • My Rival My lover   Chapter 19: The Gamble

Alex pov It wasn’t until 5 p.m. that the teacher in charge of our detention released us. I was already beyond frustrated. The day was slipping away, and I was stuck at school, staring into space, when I should have been at Amanda’s house cleaning. Today was payday, and missing it wasn’t an option, no matter how late it was. Not even when an annoying, frustrating boy like Luke was breathing down my neck. “What do you want, Luke?” I asked for what felt like the hundredth time since detention started. His response? The same infuriating smile. “I just want to escort you home. Chillax, man, I don’t bite.” “No! I can find my way home. I don’t need you for that,” I snapped, stepping back instinctively. There was no way I was letting him see where I lived. My thoughts spiraled with all the possible outcomes of him knowing. He was an elite, for Christ’s sake. His sudden goodness was suspicious. “You look cute when you’re angry,” Luke said casually, catching me completely off guard.

Alex’s POVI woke up to the sound of my phone vibrating against the wooden bedside table. My heart skipped a beat, part of me expecting it to be Amanda, or worse, Andrian. The screen flashed with an unfamiliar number. Frowning, I hesitated before picking up. “Hello?” “Good morning, boyfriend,” a familiar voice chimed, teasing and casual. “Luke?” I blurted out, my brain struggling to catch up. “What did you just call me?” “Boyfriend. You said yes yesterday, remember?” I frowned, sitting up. “What are you talking about? I don’t recall agreeing to anything.” “Oh, come on, Alex. Don’t play dumb.” I could hear the grin in his voice. “After detention yesterday, when I asked if we could give this a shot, you didn’t say no.” “Not saying no doesn’t mean yes!” I shot back, my voice sharper than I intended. “Well, I’m taking it as a yes,” he said with infuriating calm. “And besides, you’re way too cute to say no to me.” I rolled my eyes, already regretting answering the call. “Luke, I…

  • My Rival My lover   Chapter 21: The Audition

Alex’s POV The bell signaling the end of classes rang, and I found myself lingering in my seat, nerves bubbling in my stomach. I was supposed to head to the school auditorium for the audition I’d applied for days ago, but now, doubt gnawed at me. What if I embarrass myself? What if Andrian’s cronies show up just to mock me? I was nervous, throughout my way to the auditorium. Many students were milling in and out to watch the audition. I became conflicted whether to enter through the door, or I should turn away and leave. But then I thought about that moment at Puppy’s Bar, the thrill of losing myself in the music, the way I felt like I belonged, if only for a little while. I wanted that feeling again. “Hey you are blocking the fucking damn door” an angry impatient student shouted at my back, jerking me out of my confliction. With shaky determination, I grabbed my bag and headed to the auditorium. The large hall was packed with students of all kinds, some clutching instrument

  • My Rival My lover   Chapter 22: Clear message

Alex’s POV The events of the past few minutes felt like a whirlwind. I was still processing everything as I stood at the door of my apartment, mouth agape staring at the back profile of Luke. He had escorted me to my house. I had no choice as I could not reach home by myself, not in my state of mind. and Luke being him took advantage of that. He had gisted and made jokes about him being the hero and the hero supposed to receive a kiss from the victim as thank you gift. I had laughed without paying attention to it. Surprisingly, he had called me back and pressed his mouth on mine. At the last minute, I had shifted my head, and the intended kiss became a peck. It was unexpected, out of character, and completely disarming. He had just dashed off afterward, leaving me stunned and standing in the cold night air. And surprisingly, I didn't feel violated or disgusted. My fingers lightly touched my cheek where his lips had brushed against my skin. It wasn’t much, a quick, fleeting gest

  • My Rival My lover   Chapter 23: Kiss me?

Alex POVThe words on the crumpled piece of paper haunted me, a cruel whisper at the back of my mind. “Meet in the abandoned shed.”Andrian's message had been straightforward, but it carried a weight that made my chest tighten. He hadn’t specified the time, which only added to my frustration. Throughout my classes, I was a hollow shell, staring blankly at the board. The teacher’s voice was a meaningless drone. My classmates probably noticed my unusual silence, hence their rare mercy in refraining from taunts today. The bell signaling the start of sports blared across the schoolyard. Most students hurried out, their excited chatter filling the air. I, however, walked against the crowd, heading toward the music room. With the auditions just around the corner, practicing seemed like the logical choice. My only chance to qualify rested on proving myself, especially to the so-called legendary judge who had crushed my automatic qualification last time. The memory of his unimpressed gaze

Alex POV The cafeteria buzzed with life, the hum of conversations blending with the clinking of utensils. The smell of roasted beans wafted through the air, reminding me of how much I’d skipped lunch the past few days. “So… where have you been all this while?” I asked Linda, finally spotting her as she slid into the seat across from me. Throughout the day, she’d been scarce, and as a friend, it bothered me. “It’s nothing, Alex. Just busy with school stuff,” she replied quickly, her voice light. But her fingers betrayed her; they played nervously with the hem of her sweater. “School stuff? Since when are you the diligent type?” I teased, trying to draw her out, but she avoided my gaze. “Alex, just drop it, okay?” Her tone was sharper now, defensive. I wanted to press on, to ask what was really going on, but before I could, Luke’s voice interrupted. “So, you guys actually stay here to eat?” he asked, flashing his usual mischievous smile as he sat down beside me, uninvited as alwa

Alex’s POV The morning light streamed through the curtains, casting a golden glow across the room. The soft sound of the distant waters gives the scene a peaceful and otherworldly atmosphere. I stirred from my sleep. My muscles screamed as I stretched myself. my body was aching in places I never knew could ache. My whole body was sore, and my back felt like it had been through a battle. but the warmth pressed against me made it all worth it. Andrian’s strong arms were wrapped around my waist possessively, as if he couldn’t bear to let me go at all. his chest continued to rise and fall gently, behind me. I turned slightly, careful not to wake him, and watched his peaceful face. He looked so different like this, no arrogance, no fierce possessiveness, no weight pulling him down, just a man completely at ease. A lazy smile spread across my lips. Last night had been…well it was a rough night. The way he touched me, the way he held me, as if I was the only thing that mattered in th

I have never thought of someone owing me before. Hell no, I don't even have such fetish, but hearing andrian say it. It brought out a lot of things in me. My heart shook, almost answering to his statement. “Yes, I am yours” I said back, matching his tempo. One time, I was standing on the beach, and the next andrian lifted me up like I weighed nothing. His hands rested on my bottom as he painfully squeezed. I gasp, the pleasure running inside me was too much to comprehend. I clung to him for dear life, as I let andrian abuse my mouth. I was completely at his mercy. A whimper escaped my lips as he trailed traces of kiss from my jaw down to my neck. My toes tingle, and everything suddenly becomes blurry to me. The stars, the genlt waves lapping against the shore, the breeze, everything stilled. As I stared at

Andrian pov “Alex!” He was whole. Alive. I wasn’t dreaming. His blue eyes met mine, and for the first time in over a year, I felt the ground would open and swallow me. His face held no atome of expression. I wanted to gauge from that, but I found nothing. only his blue eyes was fixated on me, staring at mèso intensely. It suddenly felt like the world, my surroundings, everything had disappeared, only Alex was in my world. For the past twenty minutes, neither of us had moved, neither of us had spoken. We just stood there, staring at each other like if we so much as blinked, the other would disappear. “Alex…” I repeated. Unable to form concurrent thoughts. His name was a whisper in my mind, a ghost I had never truly let go of. All this time, I had tried to delude myself, and I had moved on. But seeing him standing in front of me. All those feelings I had desperately locked off came rushing out like a dam. He was, real, standing right in front of me, looking both f

  • My Rival My lover   Chapter 121: life on the island

Andrian pov Today was another bright day. The sun was already getting ready to shower the island with its blissful light. It was a day of work. Another day of burying myself in work. The world had long since moved on. And so had I. Or at least, that’s what I kept trying to let myself believe. It had been over a year since I left the hospital, since I turned my back on everything, the empire, the fortune, the past. My father’s reign had crumbled into dust, his empire swallowed by scavengers. It should have mattered to me. It should have made me feel something. But it didn’t. The one thing that mattered to me most has been taken away from me by the same man who calls himself my father. Without hesitation, I came and testified in the court. That was all it took to send him to life imprisonment , for attempted murder, and involvement in drug dealing and human trafficking. Well, I was also surprised when all the evidence was dug up. I know that my father was a fraudster and a w

I didn’t know how long I had been here ,but I only knew that it's been a long time.Time didn’t move here. There was no past, no present, no future. Just an endless abyss where memories flickered like broken film reels, playing over and over again.I was awake, and at the same time, I was not awake. I could hear voices that sounded like the voices of the nurses and doctors coming in every day. They would whisper in hushed tones before leaving immediately. And every time, I would scream and shout at them. I tried to ask them what was wrong, but each time, I was met with nothing. At times, my mother would stay with me for days. Talking about sweet things when our family was whole again. I was playing in the snow, or my father took the little me to the children's park. I could feel her sadness coming out in waves, but I can't do anything about it. I could only.lie down, to listen to her sto

  • My Rival My lover   Chapter 119: moving on

Andrian POV Six Months LaterThe world had moved on.People carried on with their lives, the city bustled like it always did, and Rufus' empire together with all the assets had long since been divided among greedy hands, swallowed by vultures disguised as loyal friends and business partners.Well, ever since the arrest.I sighed for what felt like a hundred times this morning. I looked through the window, envious of the way people went about their normal daily lives. Moving on with their lives.Unaware of the lonely and broken heart, that was still stuck in the past. For me, time had stopped six months ago, on that blood-stained floor, with Alex's limp body in my arms, his breath shallow , as his life continued to seep out. That was the day my own world shattered into nothingness.I stood by the large window of my penthouse, staring blankly at the city below. The skyline of Manchester stretched endlessly, lights flickering like stars against the night, but it all felt so... empty, so

Alex pov It was as if everything had stopped, even time itself, had freezed. But it was more of the calm, before the storm. I mentaĺly counted down from 3,2,1… Before all hell was let loose. But the thing was that I was not there when it did. I was still in a trance, from watching andrian throw the key to the hungry monsters before I felt myself being dragged out of the room in a hurry. The sound of gunshots firing behind our back, echoed throughout the building. “Common keep up, if you want to live” andrian words reached me, but I was not making sense of it all. Nothing that has happened in the past 20 hours made sense. But one thing that made sense is that I have failed as the heir to my fathers legacy. No matter how it turned out, the truth still remained that the key is now with one of the evil monsters, and the secret wealth of my father would be plunged all because I was stupid enough to fall for a boy. “Leave me alone” I suddenly said, stopping myself from being dragge
