Someone’s POV

“What?” I said, turning to the wounded rogue that entered my room.

“Tim has died, commander. He was caught by Alpha Arlo when we were spying on the bushes. Luckily, I escaped before they could also capture me, sir,” he said, looking down on the ground.

I turned to him with sharp eyes. “Didn’t I tell you to stay away from their radar? The only reason that you got caught is that you were stupid enough to actually get caught by them!”

He kept looking down on the ground, and I saw as he nervously bit his lips. “It’s a relief that you escaped? You should have died along with that useless bastard! I told you to observe what they were doing, and you couldn’t even do that! Fuck!” I said, kicking my table. It moved through the rough ground, making a loud sound.

He flinched with my action while I chuckled in disbelief. “And so? Did you come here just to report to me a

Hera“My mother…” I started off, but I couldn’t find the right words. My voice got stuck in my throat while Arlo looked at me in anticipation.“My mother…” I tried saying once again, but there’s a hidden force inside my body that physically inhibited me from revealing who my mother truly was. Maybe it was the fear that Arlo would hate me once he got to know who I really am.“Your mother,” he started off. “Is it Kamala Ahearn?” He asked with a firm voice. My eyes widened in shock as I looked into his eyes. “How did you know?” I asked, my voice showing disbelief. He sighed. “You should really be careful with your belongings. If you fully zipped up your luggage, then I probably would have no clue on what you’re talking about.”My mind went back to the time when I couldn’t find my written plan in my luggage. I bowed my head down and pinc

Arlo“Mom, help me,” I said, holding onto my mother’s arms.I was currently in her office, pestering the hell out of her. I was excited about the fact that Hera and I had progressed in our relationship, and I wanted to go on a date. However, since I’ve never been on a date, I don’t have any idea where to start. My mom placed her glasses on top of her head and placed her hand on her palm. “What is it, Arlo? Can’t you see that I’m busy?” She sighed.“Mom,” I whined. “Can’t you help me out just this once?”“It’s your date, Arlo! And besides, I’m assuming that you know more about Hera than I do.”I scratched the back of my neck. It’s true that Hera and I have known each other for a month, but when I think about it, there’s really not much that I know about her. “That’s the problem! We’re going on this date to

  • My Rival, My Mate   Chapter 30: The Date

Hera “Fuck, I don’t have anything to wear,” I grumbled as I went through my entire closet. I didn’t have much clothes to begin with, but it’s strange that I don't even have one decent outfit! I never really understood when characters on movies and TV shows would say that they had nothing to wear, but now I regret ever thinking that they’re just being dramatic. My entire closet was already a mess, but I still couldn’t find anything to wear. This is my first date, for god’s sake! I at least want to look and feel my best. Not to mention that my mate is probably the most handsome man that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Suddenly, I remembered that Saran had gotten me something for my 18th birthday. I was supposed to wear it during my belated birthday celebration, but I ran away before we could get the chance to. “Did I bring it?” I asked myself, rummaging through the abandoned heaps of clothes that I threw in the back of the closet. “Aha

Arlo “There’s someone hiding in the bushes,” Hera whispered against my lips, tickling my sensitive ones. I trailed my eyes away from her lips and begrudgingly turned towards the bushes. I gently moved away from her grip, walking towards the bushes. My footsteps were nimble, barely making a sound. However, the sound of twigs breaking suddenly broke the silence when I stepped on one. I paused momentarily as I saw the bushes moving more aggressively. I felt Hera’s presence behind me, also wary of the situation. “Do you think it’s a person?” She whispered. “I’m not sure,” I whispered back, still looking at the so-called “intruder.” The leaves of the bush shook, and we watched in anticipation as a white figure made its way out of the green plant. We both stood straighter and sighed out when we saw that it was just a bunny. Hera giggled. “Was I too wary? I can’t believe I alerted you because of a bunny.” I smiled, tur

ArloMy eyes narrowed as I looked at the rustling bushes. Whoever they are, they must be skilled. I couldn’t pick up any scent from them, so I didn’t notice their presence sooner.“Are you okay?” Hera’s voice intercepted my thoughts.I cleared my throat and quickly nodded my head. “Yeah, yeah. Sorry ‘bout that.”“Is something wrong?” She asked while looking at me worriedly.“No. No. I just got lost in my thoughts for a little bit. It must be because of your kiss,” I teased. She scoffed and continued eating the desserts. I glanced back at the bushes and saw that it was already calm. Tsk. The person escaped before I could even find out about their identity.I quickly opened my mind link and spoke to my beta, Anderson. He was out of breath when he answered, so I’m assuming that he’s still training the pack warriors.“Yes, Alpha,” he sai

EllaI smiled as I looked at the little children eating the bread I'd baked. Commander Norman sent me out to the city to gather some intel about the Blood Shadow pack and spy on their Alpha, and I went to their supermarket in the city to buy some ingredients for bread. Commander Norman didn't know this, of course. He'll have my head if he discovers that I did something that wasn't included in his orders."Is it good?" I asked Eli, the son of my good friend Maria. He enthusiastically nodded his head and smiled a toothless smile."Thank you for cooking this, Ella," Maria said, caressing Eli's hair as he indulged the chocolate-filled bread. "It's been a while since Eli has eaten good food."What she said was true. It's been about four years since we were recruited by commander Norman, and the food here has just been atrocious. If it wasn't undercooked rice with some type of vegetable goo, it'd be a tiny piece of meat with bloated noodles. It makes me angry t

  • My Rival, My Mate   Chapter 34: The Run

Hera“Did you find out whether you’re mated yet?” I asked Devyn, who was sitting beside me as we watched a werewolf dating show. Arlo and River are currently in the training grounds to oversee the training of the pack warriors. Arlo was supposed to go alone, but River got curious about how the process went.I saw as Devyn blushed, and then he stuffed his face with popcorn to avert my attention away from his red face. With full cheeks, he responded. “You know that it’s different for same-sex mates, right? We wouldn’t be able to know that we’re mated until we have sex.”I nonchalantly nodded my head. “I know. That’s why I’m asking whether you already know.”He choked on the popcorn, so I started patting his back. “You shouldn’t have eaten much popcorn,” I advised. He glared at me. “It’s your fault. Why did you have to ask that question?”

  • My Rival, My Mate   Chapter 35: The Intruder

Hera“Are we all ready to go?” I asked, looking at the bottles of water on the living room table. River ran to where we were, donned in fancy clothes and a pair of sunglasses.I looked him up and down. “You are aware that we’re shifting for the run, right?” I asked. He casually nodded his head. “Yup. I know.”“Then why are you dressed in such good clothes? They’re going to be discarded on the forest floor anyway,” I said.“Devyn’s coming, so I gotta dress to impress,” he whispered.“I heard that,” Devyn said, who was sitting down on the couch. River turned around and sat beside him. He threw his arm around his shoulders and gave him a wink. “Even better. Now you know that I’m doing this to impress you.”Devyn blushed and elbowed River on his side. River groaned in pain while I laughed at the sight.Suddenly I felt w

Third Person’s Point of View It was another busy day in the Blood Shadow pack (what’s new), and everyone was running around, trying to do some last-minute touches before the commencement of Rivalee’s and Belluci’s first birthday party. In the midst of the bustling people, there stood two gentlemen on the stairway, observing a large portrait hung over the wall. “It’s up again, huh?” River asked. Dalton placed his hand under his chin. “Yes. How many times has it been? 12? 13 times since it has been replaced?” River nodded his head. “Yeah. I can’t believe Kairo always manages to hang it again after Arlo already destroyed each and every portrait.” “Well, that’s one thing about Kairo—he never gives up.” Ella, seeing the two idling idiots standing on the stairway, stomped over to where they were with crossed arms. “Stop looking at Kairo and Arlo’s ballet portrait and go to the front gate to greet the guests. Don't you think we deserve it?"Kairo merely glanced at his son before continuing to pack his back for the upcoming fishing trip that he was going to have with his friends."That's normal, son. When your mother and I had Laura, we didn't go on dates until she turned four.""That's a lie," Arlo retorted. "I clearly remember grandma Lily telling me that she'd often take care of Laura just so you and mom could go on dates."Kairo scratched the back of his head. "Well, can your date wait another month or so? I have fishing trips booked every weekend of the month."Arlo groaned. "We can't, dad! We'll be busy with Rivalee's and Belluci's joint birthday party by then! And you're going out fishing once again? Who are you even going with? Unce Dalton hasn't been fishing since Belluci's birth!""Well, it's his fault for having a baby so late. I'm g

Third Person’s Point of ViewThey thought that there would only be peaceful days from now on—as Dalton and Arlo would be more focused on their children that they wouldn’t even have any time to ensue chaos. However, there was still one problem that they had to solve—the baby names. The two couples, along with River, Devyn, Emery, and Kairo, were seated on the living room couch, conversing about the topic of baby names.“I thought you’ve already decided on something during your term,” Emery said.“Yeah,” Ella said. “But Dalton thought that our little bean was going to be a girl and named him Princess.”“Then maybe you can just call him Prince,” Emery suggested.“That’s what I said!” Dalton exclaimed.“I feel like it’s too typical. And we’re not a kingdom, we’re a pack,” she defended.

"I should have just let you choke to death."Devyn cleared his throat, causing the two men to look at them. Their eyes widened in surprise, and they rushed over to where they were when they saw their wives being carried by Devyn and River."Wh—What happened? Did you get hurt?" Third Person's Point of View"Do you think Hera's been acting weird these days?" Dalton asked, looking at the newly-wedded woman sitting on the couch and scarfing down on some lettuce. Not salad.Lettuce.Just plain lettuce.River clicked his tongue. "Well, my sister has been weird since birth, but I do agree that she's weirder these days.""Do you think it's because of Arlo? Has Hera finally lost her mind after marrying him? Maybe I should have warned her more about his weird mannerisms before their marriage," Devyn said.Dalton nodded his head in agreement."Are you badmouthing me behind my back?" a voice suddenly interrupted. The three men looked behind them and saw Arlo with his arms crossed, looking at them with raised eyebrows."You're weird. That's why your weirdness has rubbed off onto my sister," River blatantly said.Arlo frowned."There

Third Person's Point of ViewIt was a beautiful morning in the Blood Shadow pack—not a single sign of chaos ensuing. That is until a familiar scream was heard all around the house."WHAT?" Dalton shouted, turning off the television.Ella worriedly looked around the house, afraid that Dalton's scream would wake up the other pack members."Shh, why do you have to shout? I'm just asking you to be the chaperone for Lyra's field trip.""But why?" he whined. "I'm going fishing with Kairo and the boys."Ella clicked her tongue. "You went fishing three days ago, Dalton! Maria invited me out to the town, and it's been a long time since we hung out. Don't you think I also deserve to go out of the house?""Would that be okay, though?
