FIRING TASHA

Jack’s face shifted from surprised to confused, as if Mariam had just suggested something outrageous. He let out a nervous laugh, scratching the back of his head. “Fire Tasha? Seriously. Has it gotten to that?”

Mariam, arms crossed, was in no mood for his deflection. She raised an eyebrow, her voice cold and sharp. “Yes, of course.”

Jack’s expression softened as he sighed, placing his cup of coffee down on the table. “Mariam, it was all a mistake. It hasn’t gotten to firing her.”

Mariam’s eyes flared with irritation. She leaned forward, her hands resting on her knees as if ready to jump into another fight. “So, what do you plan on doing, Jack? Keep her in the office so she can make more ‘mistakes’? Because I’m not going to sit around waiting for the next time she mysteriously shows up in your bed.”
