"'Please, spare us!”

Enora begs, her voice trembling like a child's, her arms wrapping around my arm like a vice. She looks up at Denzel with wide, fearful eyes, her expression pitiful.

“We really had no intention of stumbling in here,” she continues, her words spilling out in a desperate rush.

“We didn't mean to intrude, we'll leave right away, just please don't hurt us!” Her voice cracks with emotion, and she clings to me tighter, as if I'm her only lifeline.

I nudge her carefully, so she won't show any sign of weakness.

Begging is never the solution.

“Hurt you?” Denzel scoffs. “I’m sure you’ve both had your fair share of the word Hurt. I’ll be the monster people say I am if I try to do any more damage”

“Then please let us g-

“Enough Enora” I nod and she goes quiet.

Denzel’s eyes settle on me and my heart seizes.

I want to understand why he is looking at me in such a way.
