Chapter 4: Fortifying Defense

Three days after the departure of the knight, Eduard was now again at his backyard sparring with two of his knights. These two was Erin and Ernie, they are brothers that are both at 5th tier Iron Level Knight. The two was already at the age of 25, being stuck on tier 5 for almost 5 years they were both assigned to him . The family, already regarded them as talentless and have no future and use for them.

 This morning he only learned that the two knights was always bullied in the household and the resources for them was always seized by the stronger knights on their group. They also used them as a training dummy for their technique, in the end they always received injury resulting to stagnating of their cultivation.

 Eduard pitied them, luckily the family had given up to the two. After the 3 knights came back from the city with the 20 slaves, he will have the manual to improve them. Since this two endure their predicament for 5 years and still dedicated to train he saw a hope for them. This is what sort of knights he needed, as long as he has something to offer, they will be complied to be stronger and be loyal to him.

 Right now, Eduard tried to apply his hand-to-hand combat skill to the two. The brothers are not adept in bare fist fighting and have a hard time to fight Eduard in one on one. As a knight they are more adept to use their weapons as it was more lethal than punching. Being cornered, Eduard decided to ask them to join hands to fight him. Fighting the two gave Eduard a pressure as he needed to divide his attention to the two, he was able to maximize the utilization of his hand to hand combat skill.

 After an hour of practice, the three stop their training. They were all drench in sweat. 

   Angie came to Eduard and gave him a towel. Like before, Angie saw again the body of Eduard and blushed while looking away.

 Eduard sparred with the knight today, because they already done in doing their assigned task. He gave them a day off, as a reward for their hard work. Moreover, last knight his cultivation also improved into a tier 2 iron level knights.

 Eduard calculated that before the end of the month he was already stronger in his Knight Captain Martin. A burst of joy appeared on his face imagining that of becoming stronger. He had enough strength to protect himself somehow after the end of month. But as a Lord, the will only be enough for himself, he had to fortify his domain to protect his people also.

 That's why after lunch time he decided to call for Captain Martin, they have to dicuss on how they should manage the security of his territory.

 " Captain Martin I want you and your men to start surveying our perimeter within 30 km in the domain. You should mark those places that are dangerous to wonder at, specially the location where people commonly pass through." Eduard commanded after he made up his mind.

 " After surveying, you will also look for an escape post for people if the village was in danger, it should be all of the four direction should have an escape route. This task should be done within this month".

 Captain Martin nodded to the command of Eduard, showing that he understood. 

 Eduard on the other hand was thinking of his next action after they manage mapping out his territory. As a Lord, the creation of escape routes was his first defense, since his area have no walls and gates it was open for the attack in any direction. Instead of creating a fortified defence that is very imaginary for now since his budget was too small for the materials. It is better to make an scape routes or safe place to hide as a preliminary action in times  of danger.

 Eduard continued to discuss his plan and the development of his territory.

 " Captain Martin, before you start mapping, you have to choose first a guard station that can send us message easily if a group of people came the guards should be assign alternately on this post. You have to assign also the other guards to set traps in the nearby forest to prevent the appearance of the beast, especially those high tier beast in this village. do you understood?"

 "Yes, my Lord" Martin respond.

 " Alright, you can proceed tomorrow, you don't need to rush it. But also do not laze around, you can go now" he said while waving his hand, indicating that Martin can now depart of the room.

 Martin gave him a slute after going out. 

 When the sound of closing door rang. Eduard relax himself and relase a deep sigh.

 He look at Angie and Linda on the side.

 " Do the two of you think that my decisions are correct?"

 Angie was surprised to his question and forgot to organize her thought before she answer. "I-I think you did fine y-young master"

 After the response of Angie, Linda voice out also her answer, " Young master, you won't have to worry. Your action as a Lord was splendid, you care for your people and did not only think of them as commodities to gain wealth".

 Eduard was happy to hear the comment of the two. Since he came here a few days ago, he was always in the pressure of leading his people. He has no time to think of anything else since they are vulnerable in danger.

    Beside he came from another world, eventhough he has the knowledge of managing people from there, the circumstances here are different. 

 This world law was lean on power, without power you cannot do or move anything here. Luckily, these few days everything has been peaceful.

 " I hope everything will be fine for our first year of living here" he weakly said.

 Linda heard what he said and suddenly remember something, " uhmm young master, I think miss will follow here if she learned that you were diperse of the household".

 Angie don't know what to do as she also remember this important thing, " uhmm, Young Master should I clean the room beside your room, assurance if young miss came" she hurriedly said.

 Eduard was also startled by Linda's reminder. The young miss that they were talking about was his elder sister Estella. She is one year older than him and currently studying on the mage academy.

 She had talent in magic so the family sent him to study. Two weeks from now she is supposed to came back in the Chris Family. If she heard that he was banished and sent here, there is a big chance that she will follow.

 As the only real blood sister of him. Their care to each other of the old Eduard was great. Another thing is that, a news came from the household this month before he was sended in the border, that her sister was injured in the school competition. It resulted to her magic veins being damaged.

 The family attitude to them turned colder after this, even his father did not think twice to send him in the place of nowhere after hearing the news.

 " She will surely come here and be with us permanently. Angie please clean the room on the other side of second floor for her."

 Angie complied to Eduard command and left the room, only Linda and Eduard was left inside.

 " Are you sure young master that your family will let the young miss to stay here?" Linda asked.

 Eduard look at the window, his eyes was looking at the direction of Chris family, " I'm sure they will, since repairing a damage magic veins cost a large sum of money and its not profitable to the family interest. You know that the family treat us with a price tags. Those who do not have a profitable value are disposed".
