Chapter 1
***
Leila thanked the taxi driver as she stepped out of the car with her one huge black luggage and a medium-sized black and gray traveling bag waiting at her side. The driver closed the door of the car, just humbly smiled at her, then drove away after she had paid a few bucks.
She stretched her limbs to at least ease her outstretched arms from the long drive. She was oblivious to the things around her as she stared at the small bungalow house she inherited from her loving grandparents from his father’s side, Emilio and Josefa Mercado.
Her mind was clouded with flashing memories she had with her loving late grandmother, who would run towards where she was the moment she had stepped out of their car, while her late grandfather would just smile – while watching them.
Good old days.
That was what she was thinking while looking at the old house.
It was a single-story house with a slope roof that was made of concrete, glass, and bricks – and the colors were mixed of gray and white. It was a modernized version of bungalow houses. It had gray vinyl windows from both sides of the house. It also had a small veranda surrounded by white railings and a front porch.
The front yard was covered with grass and the big shady maple tree was still standing proudly. The whole house was surrounded by a wood fence colored with white and gray paint.
She was glad that the housekeeper maintained it as if it had never been years since she last saw it.
Leila smiled sadly as her tears swiftly flowed to her cheeks because she just missed her grandparents so much – especially that the house also carried the memories of her dad, who died more than a decade ago.
Her grandparents were so loving and caring that their family always loved to take their vacations at this house. When her father died, she never stepped foot on it again. After two years, her grandparents died.
She sighed and shook her head lightly – wiping away her tears.
“Too much of being emotional, Leila. Think of the good and happy things, girl. Don’t let your horses down.” She lowly whispered to herself as she was wiping her tears away.
Her forehead creased when she saw a huge mansion just beside hers. She remembered her grandparents’ house was deserted and the nearest house next to hers was one kilometer away – not to mention the huge trees in between. Her grandparents loved nature so they choose one which was so close to the forest.
The Sacred Place Village, which was where she was right now, was surrounded by a virgin forest anyway. The community living there was just a family of fifteen – more or less. Some of their relatives flew to the city to find a better job like everyone else.
She shrugged at that thought.
Leila was just so glad. Now, she finally had a nearest neighbor.
She stared at the huge mansion – it was a three-story, she guessed, because of the gigantic concrete fence with thorny vines at the edges. She cringed slightly as she thought of the possibility that whoever might try to climb on it would surely be torn and full of wounds after.
The mansion was to her taste anyway, it was like a gruesome-like mansion, but she loved how intricate and classic the design was. It also had a huge balcony that surely created a relaxing ambience.
She was hoping to get a chance to be friends with her neighbor – whoever it was.
Her forehead creased when she saw a silhouette on the balcony, then it vanished for a matter of seconds. Her spine covered with chills as she remembered the horror movie, she had watched with her seven-year-old stepbrother, Darcel, last night.
“Oh, my goodness’ gracious!” Leila exclaimed horribly when a cold hand, held her arm.
She was horrified that she flinched – causing her luggage to fall together with her travelling bag which was placed just above it.
Her widened eyes dropped towards the lady who was confusedly looking at her.
“Cristine! Oh, my gosh, you took me by surprise.” She shockingly stated.
Her heart was still thumping hard as she was trying to calm her nerves.
Cristine was the fifteen-year-old daughter of their housekeeper, Carina. Her mother was paying them to keep her grandparents’ house clean – especially when she finally decided to move in.
“Sorry. I was calling you twice already, but you haven’t noticed me.” Cristine shyly answered while helping her with her luggage.
That conversation kept her mind at ease – forgetting the goosebumps she felt a while ago while looking at the huge, weird mansion just beside hers.
“Finally, you’re here!” Carina giddily exclaimed and welcomed her with a warm hug.
She was close to her family, most especially with her grandparents. Maybe, one of the reasons why she voluntarily asked them to look after the house. Her mother just gave her a few bucks out of courtesy.
Leila looked around. The beige couch was decorated with dark brown pillows and a small sofa table with a succulent plant in a small pot was placed in front.
The flush mount ceiling lights give a unique touch to the living room. On the right side of the house was the kitchen and dining, while on the left side were the rooms.
She couldn’t refrain herself from feeling the nostalgia of the memories rushing through her mind.
Then, the huge mansion caught her attention once again. She was about to speak when Cristine interrupted her thoughts.
“How was Miss Sheila? It was strange that she allowed you to live alone.” Cristine asked while serving her tea.
She sat on the single couch and thanked her.
“Well, she’s fine with it, besides, she couldn’t say ‘no’ to her lovely daughter, aight?” Leila playfully said and winked at her.
Cristine and Carina laughed hard at her mischievous remarks.
“Anyway, I didn’t know that I already had a neighbor here. How long has it been there?” She curiously asked as her eyes moved to the glass window facing the huge mansion while sipping her tea.
She saw how fidgety Cristine was and avoided her gaze. She worriedly looked at her mother who just let out a deep sigh.
“Well, I don’t really know. They’re just new here. I must say to just stay away from them, Lei. I heard rumors that the man living there was kind of rude, unsociable, and mysterious. We haven’t seen him go out of his house, though. Only the butler, but he is too snob and cold, too.” Carina seriously told her.
Her eyes even widened while talking about it.
Leila just chuckled.
“You’re being too judgmental, Carina. Don’t believe rumors like that and just give them the benefit of doubt.” She simply uttered.
Carina just shrugged while Cristine remained silent and just listened to them.
“Well, at least I have already warned you.” She finally said and gave her a flat look.
Leila just gave them a soft smile before staring at the mysterious mansion. She just hoped to be friends with her neighbor.
Meanwhile, as the clock just struck past twelve, everything was embraced with a deafening silence.
The almost full moon, which was proudly illuminating in the dark sky, was the only source of light radiating through the large glass windows.
A man was lying on the cold floor as his chest moved up and down while panting. His heart was frantically beating, and his eyes squeezed shut for the burning sensations that crept into his whole system.
It was just the start of his miserable and tormenting shift. He eagerly wanted to stop it as much as he could, but his inner being was gradually becoming uncontrolled.
He was slowly losing his ounce of humanity and he was too weary to fight it. He was all riled up, and he screamed – his trembling fist clenched tightly, and his knuckles started to pale.
His shaking body bent – his both knees touched his chest and his temple throbbed.
A pair of sympathizing eyes just watching him in the shadows, wearing a distressed face. He couldn’t do anything for him, nor could he stop what was happening. All he could do was wait for whatever would happen next and make a move from there.
He was patiently waiting for whatever form would take over him – his sense of humanity or his cruel ruthless wolf.
The man on the floor cried out of pain as his glossy eyes glistened and rolled to the back of his head. His ankle twisted followed by the rest of his body – as a loud and shivering howl escaped from his lips, echoed in the entire manor.
The man standing readied himself as he witnessed that it was the cruel ruthless wolf which was winning and taking over. He silently prayed to the moon that he would still be alive after this.
Another loud growl broke the silence of the night – mixing with the lurid panting and whimpering in satisfaction.
A huge dark brown furred wolf appeared in front of the man attacking the metal cage railing. It was growling and moaning – expressing his starving self.
The man standing instantly threw a massive piece of raw meat and the wolf vigorously eaten.
He was bewildered that after years the wolf became wild and overpowering. He just hoped it would turn out okay as he stared at the moon – praying for his master.
Hi! I just want to thank you for still waiting for my updates. I want to edit this first few chapters before continuing. I want to put some POV (Point of View), so you won't be confused. Thank you for your understanding. XOXO!
Chapter 2 *** Leila was humming her favorite song as she placed the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies on the cooling rack. “Finally…” She smilingly clasped her both hands together while her eyes glittered while looking at it. It was a fine sultry day and she decided to give some of her neighbors her own version of chocolate chip cookies. Her mother, Sheila, and her stepbrother, Darcel, truly loved it and she was hoping her neighbors would love it, too. She was looking forward to selling some cookies and other pastries for her to have some extra income. She was dreaming of having her own bakeshop soon. Leila giggled at her thoughts. She rummaged through the hanging cabinet in the kitchen for possible containers, and she sweetly smiled when she found ten of it. “Nice! I can’t believe Carina bought some of the things that I need.” She whispered to herself. The market was an hour-drive from her house. She still needed to ride a taxi from the arc of the Sacred Place Village, and
Chapter 3 *** It was a busy day for Leila. She had received so many texts about ordering cupcakes and cookies. It made her so busy that she almost forgot about what happened to her yesterday. Well, almost, but not quite, for the moment she went to her gate, and she had seen the massive mansion just beside her house – everything just popped into her head like a fleeting mockery to her. She pouted and let out a deep sigh before shrugging her shoulders. Maybe, she wouldn’t ever forget how he treated her cookies! She’d made sure to avenge her poor cookies when the time came! She chuckled at her own joke and slightly shook her head. She wasn’t that morbid, though. Maybe, she’ll just put some stimulant laxatives in his food – nothing more. Leila bit her lower lip as her mind drifted towards the man who had occupied her mind the entire night. She let out a frustrated sigh before driving towards the arc where her customers were waiting for her pastries and cupcakes. “You’re such a tale

Thank you. *** “You’re such a great baker, Leila. Thank you for this.” Mrs. Johnson proudly commented as she stood beside her. Mrs. Johnson contacted her to create a customized cake for her daughter’s birthday. She was slowly building her name in the community and words were easily spread all throughout. Those words brought her back to reality and gave the kind woman a gentle small smile. “I really love baking. Thank you for trusting me on this, too.” She sincerely replied. “I’ll surely help you market your pastries and cakes, then. Maybe you can give me your portfolio so I can share it with my friends.” Mrs. Johnson excitedly told her. That made Leila ecstatic. “Sure, Mrs. Johnson. I’d do that. Thank you for giving me an idea.” Her voice was filled with happiness and anticipation. Le
Chapter 5 *** Leila was dumbfounded, but she tried to stand up with her trembling knees. She had no idea why, but she followed the massive wolf that actually… rescued her! She couldn’t believe that there’s a meek wolf like that – not to mention that it was so huge and bulky. She had seen them on television, and they were predators – mostly wild and fierce. Leila ignored the bruises that were throbbing in some parts of her body. All she could think about was following the massive wolf and finding out who owned it. She wanted it! She wanted one for herself! Well, that might serve as her best friend while living here in the village. Her mind was clouded with the gratitude towards the wolf that saved her. She couldn’t believe that during that hard, awful, and hopeless time – she could find someone unexpectedly. She was panting inaudibly – breathing in her mouth as she tried to keep up with the wolf, which was slowly walking like it had nowhere to go. The owl cooed, and it echoed
Chapter 6 *** It happened so fast that Leila couldn’t believe how she had come this far. She was flabbergasted upon discovering that it was Hunter Black, whom her mother had been indebted to. Well, technically, it was all her stepfather’s fault, but her mother had been his collateral. That man really had to give them a headache after what he had done to her! She couldn’t believe him! A heartless beast if she might add! But what’s worst was that she couldn’t believe how she had come this far and how fate was truly playing her right now. She stared at the huge mansion in front of her as she managed to press the doorbell. Butler Henry’s cold and blank expression welcomed her and ushered her towards the pathway. She mentally heaved a deep sigh. Now, she was welcomed here already, and that was because she had no other choice but to be the one who would pay for everything instead of her mother. “There are few rules that you had to remember while working here, Miss Leila.” Butler Hen
Chapter 7 *** Leila was so guilty that she couldn’t just leave Hunter’s mansion. She wasn’t allowed on the second floor of the house, and she hadn’t seen Butler Henry go down. She had eaten the steak that she had cooked, and she had a tiny tinge of pain, thinking that she hadn’t even asked for Hunter’s food preference. How could she ever forget something as important as that kind of information?! “I should’ve asked…” She murmured under her breath. Then, a loud bang of the door suddenly interrupted her thoughts. Her eyes widened like a saucer as fear and worry instantly attacked her. She hadn’t heard the doorbell, and she knew that no one would enter the place – for it was only Hunter and Butler Henry leaving in this huge mansion. “Then, who the heck is this?” She asked herself as she immediately held the vase just beside her. Whoever, this intruder was, she would instantly shout to Butler Henry and alarm them. But that also meant that her life would be in danger. Her heart be
Chapter 8Leila didn’t know how many times she had heaved a deep sigh as she plopped down the comfy sofa.Everything that happened that day was already wearing her out. However, what made her more perplexed was about what Butler Henry told her about a while ago.***Flashback…“But Hunter – err, I mean Master Hunter – seems like he is pushing his brother away…” She inquired nosily. She even corrected herself as Butler Henry shot her a knowing look.‘When can I ever get used to calling him ‘Master’? Tsk!’ She rolled her eyes inside her head as she mentally thought.Butler Henry heaved a deep sigh – like he was already worn out. She had been asking him too many questions since Hector went out of the mansion, and he might have cut his cord of patience because of her prurience. She swallowed hard – hoping that Butler Henry wouldn’t throw him out of the mansion for being too meddling.Leila just wanted to drop that topic when his next words made her more curious.“Master Hunter didn’t want
Chapter 9In the forest, the eerie silence was being broken by a loud and fierce growl from a hurt animal. The owls’ hooting suddenly stopped – afraid that they might disturb the creepiness growing around the place.“You are not going to get away with this! You skank! I swear they will know who you are eventually!” A man furiously screamed as blood flowed into the corner of his lips.Behind his eerie black mask, a man wearing all-black jeans and shirt with a hooded long cape smirked.“Just try. I have already eradicated half of all the packs in here. No one will come my way, especially since I already handled the group.” He plainly stated – using his low and cold voice. He saw how the dying man in front of him suddenly looked so worried and scared. The man in his mask let out a loud bark of laughter. He was suddenly amused by how the dying man tried so hard to pretend that he was strong enough to stand in front of him. ‘What a fool…” He mentally thought.“Don’t make me laugh, you idi

He received a letter from her saying that he had to go to her house.Despite of his pure resolve and desire to go straight to the Triad base and talk to Leila, as soon as possible, he knew that he had to go and asked her the reason of her letter.‘Maybe… Leila is there already?! Did she convince her?!’ His heart began to thump hard and fast as he immediately went to Tamika’s house. However, he hadn’t found Leila there.“Why do you ask me to come here? I have to talk to Leila. I have to go to the Triad base. I saw her there and I want to work things out between us again. If not, perhaps, I can try telling her the truth and-”“She will come here.” Tammy cold voice cut his words. His forehead c
Chapter 97Discern***Leila was panting so hard as she finally got into the woods. She had finally escaped the guards when she saw them talking in the hallway and laughing hard. She knew their routine already and she managed to escape. The very moment she arrived, even though she already agreed to the marriage – she planned some blind spots where she could use whenever she wanted to get out unnoticed. She tried asking for permission in meeting Tammy – but the eerie masked master wouldn’t just let her go.So, she had to get a move and get out of the place by herself instead. She had to know the answer that she had been looking for.And she knew that it was only Tammy who could help her.Leila didn’t know where she might be – but she had to go out of that place while she still can. She was confused and she had to ask Tammy – if n
Chapter 96Dream***Leila opened her eyes – just to be surprised at where she was.It was kind of familiar, but she couldn’t pinpoint where she was at the moment. Her forehead creased – as she tried to remember what happened to her and why she was in that particular place.“Hello?” She called – but her voice simply echoed. It made her shiver down her core.‘What the heck is happening? Where the freaking hell am I?’ She asked herself – as she got up from the dried leaves that she was lying at a while ago.She looked around, bewildered.“Silver?” She called her inner wolf – but no one is answering.Leila felt the intensifying fear that was slowly creeping into her bones. She was in the middle of nowhere. Chapter 95Safe***“This might something be too important that you have to go here instead of waiting for us in the pack community.” His father, Hudson Black, commented seriously – as Hunter entered his office. He knew from Butler Henry that they will be meeting the elders tomorrow and planned – since they have already talked to the Alpha King and Queen and had their go signal for the Triad’s eradication. However, he couldn’t wait for them anymore. And he had to tell them about the news – even if he knew that they might have known it already. He didn’t want Leila to get hurt.He knew that this decision might mean that he might lose being the Alpha’s son – and worst got disown, but he didn’t care. He had to come clean – and hope that Leila could be safe, if worst comes to worst and Leila might be drag to thi
Chapter 94For Always***“Just stop staring at me and tell me what is it? What is that something that I shouldn’t know?” Hunter repeated his question – because Hector, Myrtle, and Butler Henry were just looking at him.He couldn’t stop himself from raising a brow – especially when they exchanged that kind of look. And he knew that something was up.They shared that meaningful glare – making him to feel upset. However, when his eyes moved to a piece of paper. From the looks of it, there was a slight clue as to what was happening already. And even him – he just hoped that he didn’t have to know. But he knew that regardless of the things that he knew, he pretended not to care.“I should have stayed at the garden – even if it is already too hot.” He commented on himself. In that way, he might not have experienced that harsh reality – right in front of him.He smirked inwardly – a sarcastic and painful one.‘Reality slapped him really hard this time, huh?’ He mentally thought.Myrtle let
Chapter 93Invitation***“Master…” He heard Viego call him. There was an undeniable worry etched in his tone of voice – and he knew what it means. He smiled evilly while wearing his half-faced mask.He was now sitting in his throne – while playing a chess all by himself. He was holding the queen piece in his hand – as if it was the most precious and amazing that caught his attention.Viego went to him silently. He didn’t have to think profoundly about his words – he knew him very well. And even if he didn’t want the way he said the words – he had to be patient to him.For now, he was in the crucial part of his plans, and he had no time to get a newbie as his second in command. Besides, so far, he had no other problems about him – except the fact that he was just too cautious and intimidated by his presence.Wel
Chapter 92Mess***“Master Hector…” Lio called him – as he arrived at the place where he left them a while ago.He looked like he would kill those who would dare cross him.Well, he would – especially that he was in the foul mood right now.And the three knew that. They wouldn’t want to test their leader right now. They wouldn’t stake their lives – when they knew that they might be doomed if they try doing so.“Where the heck is he?” He asked dangerously. The three of them swallowed hard as they looked at each other for a short while – as if they were trying to tell each other who would explain and answer to his question.Because right now, they knew that they were all in the middle of something that’s inevitable. They couldn’t stop whatever chaos that might unfold once they open their mouth
Chapter 91Heartbreak***‘L-Leila…’Hunter was confused – as his mind was fighting with his heart screaming in pain. This was something that he had to settle aside for now.He tried to calm his mind – as well as his inner wolf – from screaming that she betrayed him.It wasn’t easy – when all that was running in his mind was pure anger and betrayal. It wasn’t helping him when Tracker, his inner wolf, was also wanting to take over him.He gritted his teeth – as he clenched his hands into balled fists.‘No… She couldn’t do this… She won’t join these people. She won’t join the Triad…’ He tried to reason out – as he found himself waiting for the right time to get in.This is the only chance that he got – and he only have a lesser time before Hector discover what he had done.He had to make sure to talk to Leila. He had to clear things with her. However, he knew that this might be the end of everything between them. And if it did – the least that he knew was the fact that he had done every
Chapter 90Found***Silence.It was one of the things that he hated the most now.Especially the deafening silence that was filling his ears.If not from the crickets around – this might be too creepier for everyone. However, for the time being he had to embrace the silence – for it was the only way he would now what was happening.‘Are you really here, Leila? I hope that you are not…’ A huge part of him was hoping that everything that he heard wasn’t all true.He looked around – making sure that they were still hidden in the middle of darkness. The place was already disturbing – and he couldn’t believe that the Triad had managed to hide in this place. They were pretty clever for hiding in this very secluded place.Who would have thought that they were close to their pack?Hunter let ou
