Asher Wild
Waking up with a blinding headache is not the way I wanted things to start this morning. I wake up most mornings early to let my beast roam the forest surrounding my house. However, something about today feels different. He is more on edge, like something is about to happen. That might be why it feels like there are multiple dragons pounding away in my head.
Making my way to my bathroom, I make sure to drink a whole lot of water, to try and drown the assholes that have been stomping around in my brain. Brushing my teeth, I debate on whether I want to shower, or just put on extra deodorant and call it a day.
Stomping down the hall, I walk into the room Oliver calls home, and get instantly disappointed that he is not there. Usually we meet here to work out in the gym downstairs together, but it seems like he decided to do that alone. Closing his door, I walk down the stairs. And debate on what I want for breakfast this morning. Deciding on simple toast, I grab the bread out of the cupboard and pop it into the toaster. When it beeps, I pull out the hot bread and place it on the plate. I sit at the grand table that I hand crafted when I was going through my woodworking era, and enjoy the lightly toasted meal. Getting dressed in the three piece suits I always end up complaining about, I make my way to the ten car garage, and grab the Chevy Impala that I built from the ground up. Hearing it roar I race out of the driveway and turn down the street. Pulling out the app tracer I have on Oliver, I see that he has entered a coffee shop that is right next to my favorite bar.
Racing all the way there listening to “Eye of the Tiger '', I pulled into the parking lot just in time to see a bright light illuminating a beautiful girl that is pulling another male behind her. I freeze,it has been a long time since I've seen another Mythical around here. Following them into the alley behind Flora’s, I see a bright white light shoot from the hands of the girl and start running over right as she passes out, and the guy she was with jumps from behind a dumpster and gets to her when I do.
“What happened?” I ask while breathing hard.
“She loses control sometimes. But what you saw has to be kept a secret, someone is after us and I can't let him kill my little sister." He looks like he just might kill someone from that declaration alone.
“Relax, mythicals stick together.” His whole body locks up and he gives me a look like I just killed his damn cat.
“What?”
“How do you know she is a Mythical?” he questions
“I saw the light as you were jumping out of the way. Also, Mythicals know when they are in the presence of one another, it is like a gut feeling. People these days call it that at least.”
“Damn, We didn’t know that.”
“Look, why don’t you come back with me? I’ll teach you both how to be Mythical.”Picking the pale girl up, I start walking to my car, glancing over my shoulder wondering if he is following me. Glancing around he shrugs his shoulders and starts to follow.Placing her carefully into the front seat, I drove my Imala around the front and picked up Oliver who was standing against the door, it seemed like he was waiting for us to show up.
Jumping into the back seat next to the guys whose names I still don't know. I can tell that something is up. Attaching the mental connection between us, I talk to him while I effortlessly drive the car back to my house.
“What is going on? And why did you leave so early this morning.” he looks at me and we make eye contact through the mirror.
“I was getting ready this morning when I noticed my best was getting nervous and I went out for a walk to calm him down when I appeared outside the coffee shop and ran into Paison who was walking out to go back to the library.”
“Paison?” I asked while we were still making eye contact.
“Yeah, the guy next to me, anyway, I instantly smelled another mythical character on him so I followed him and saw his sister in the library. He told her to get up and go to the coffee shop, so I went back over and waited for him. So, when he walked in I knew instantly that she was exactly like us, but it was weird, it's like she had no clue who I was." He finishes the story right as we pull into the garage of our three story home. Getting out of the car, I walk around to pick up the mystery girl, when I find the guy, Mason, already there trying to pick her up.”
“Here, let me.” jumping back like I bit him, he clutches his sister to his chest and glares at me like I did something wrong.
“Look, I appreciate that you are willing to help us, but I think I should just take my sister back to the place we are staying and call it a night. She will be up soon, and I would rather not explain why we are in some random strangers house.” Looking like he might kill me, I sigh and ask Dalion to give me strength to deal with this kid that doesn’t know anything about us.
“Listen carefully to me, your sister is dangerous. Especially because she has no clue what she is doing. You said that you guys grew up differently, right? You have no clue what you are walking in on here. It is better if you just leave her here and go your separate way.” Talking slowly, I try to explain why she should be in my house, and ignore the look Oliver is giving me in my peripheral vision.
“Ummm, I’m sorry what? You want me to leave my younger sister here with you two?” He suddenly starts laughing like I just told the funniest joke in the world.
“Here with two people that we suddenly just met, wow that is the funniest thing I have heard all day, no, all my life.” Walking away from me like he is about to walk out of the garage, I block his path and try really hard not to shove him against the wall and kill him right where he stands.
Almost like knowing what I was about to do, Oliver steps between us and starts talking before I can say anything. “Listen, he wasn’t meaning it like that, he just meant that we know a lot more about this world than you and your sister combined. We can help, but we need you to trust us.” Backing him away from the exit, he corrals him toward the door, and calmly waves his hands toward the house to get him to go inside.
“No one is going to make you leave her here.” He says, giving me a sharp look like I'm the idiot in this situation.
The door opens on the other side of Paison, and Gia, my cousin, walks out to see what is going on.
“Um, hello.'' She says, looking down like she wants to hide from the people that are in front of her.
“And you are?” Paison, finally looking up to see who is talking, takes her hand, and introduces himself and the female in his arms. Looking at me, she takes the next step and invites him inside and shows him where the spare bedroom is. When Mason walks inside, she closes the door, and starts to talk while walking as far away from the door as she possibly can.
“Who are these people and why did I suddenly just let them inside my home?” She looks like she might cry with how accepting she just was with a couple of strangers. How did I get myself into this situation? Everyone around me either wants to cry, or kill me.. Bunch of moody people. I roll my eyes and tell her the dramatic story of how we ended up in this situation.
“What did you want me to do? Let the rats feast on them? As if, I hate rats, disgusting.” Shivering at the thought of them, Oliver laughs and makes a comment about how i'm a big, bad dragon afraid of little creatures. Shoving my elbow into his gut, I walk away from the annoying pair, and head into my room. Slammin the door, I sink into the bed in the middle of the space, and try to figure out how in the hell I got myself yet another impossible situation.
Maybell Smith I move around in the cloud that I'm somehow laying in and slowly come to, as I figure out what happened, and where I am. Opening my eyes, the bright light stabs me. I look around and see the most beautiful bedroom I have ever found myself in. The bed that is in the middle of the space is a dark blue with wooden beams that come out of the corners. There is a dresser right on the end of the bed that is a light brown, with a hint of gold. The carpet is white, and looks like it could be the softest thing my feet have ever touched. Sliding off the king sized bed, my feet hit the carpet and confirmed my suspicions. It is in fact, the softest thing these feet have touched in their little life. Getting out of the bed, I make my way to the door and peek out. Standing at the end of the hall talking to the giant man, is my twin. “Look, I know you're nervous, but this is the safest place for her. Archer’s not a bad guy, he is just older than dirt and doesn't know anything”. Clicki
Archer WildInfuriating! How dare that woman speak to me like that? Doesn’t she know who I am?Pacing the space that I have been walking for at least an hour, smoke practically pours out of my nose when I think about what she said.I have to tell myself to calm down, or I will go raging down the hall and throw that insufferable girl over my shoulder! Maybe that will teach her a lesson! Me, Archer Wild, not desirable? Any woman in her right mind would throw herself at me! I could have any woman I wanted, and this is who the God paired me with? An absolute know-it-all?Walking to the door I get ready to slam it open when I hear knocking come from the other side. Opening it carefully so as not to show how angry I am, I come face to face with the one person I didn’t want to see tonight! My beast steadies in my mind and focuses on the beauty sanding in frount of me. “Paison told me what happened. Thank you for bringing me here, but I don’t want to stay here anymore. We’re leaving.” She tu
Maybell SmithBlinking my eyes open, I see nothing but darkness. Getting up fast, I look down to see my hand covered with something sticky, but I can't see exactly what. Suddenly, a spotlight shines down on me and I finally get to take a look at my surroundings. Jumping back in horror, I note the dead bodies that litter the room. Paison, Archer, Oliver, they are all there, covered in ice, looking at me like I was their downfall. Looking down I see my hand covered in blood, the same stuff that came out of my mother on that horrible night. I open my mouth to scream and nothing comes out. The door at the other end bursts open and a faceless person walks in."You should have just come to me when you got the chance." He lets out this laugh that makes my toes curl in fear."Maybell." I spring out of bed and look around. Sitting next to me, in the bed I went to sleep on, is Archer. Looking at me like I had just told him I'm going to kill him in his sleep."What are you doing here?" I cover
Archer WildBegging me for it? Where did that come from? Walking down the stairs, I make my way to the kitchen and make myself an espresso. What am I doing? I told myself when this war with Fletcher started, that I would not endanger anyone by showing them I care about them. Do I care about her? I have dreamed of having this same thing as a kid, but I don't want all that takenaway from me if something goes wrong. Isn't that what everyone is worried about? Getting their heart ripped right out of their chest? Is it worth it? Maybe Gia will know. Walking down the hall, right up to Gia's room, and froze. Has she been through something like this before? If she has, I'll kill anyone that dares to crush her heart. Now I'm not sure if I want to know. Walking away, I went right back to the kitchen, and finished the expresso I so eloquently made, downing it in one go, Oliver walks down and stares at me. "She kicked you out?" Looking at him, I try to figure out how in the hell he would know
Maybell Smith How did he do that? No one has ever held me like that before, and especially during one of the times that I lose control. I don't even know what happened. I walked down the stairs and went to confront him, and ended up stomping back upstairs shaking with rage. When I lost control in the closet I wasn't meaning to. But the anxiety of never being enough for someone, and being in such a new place and new people just got to me and piled up. Losing control is always scary, but somehow Archer made me feel like I could as long as I was in his arms. Getting dressed in a white crop top, and some black jeans, I walk down the stairs to the crowd that has formed in the kitchen. "Are you alright?" Paison walks up to me talking in the morse code we made up as kids. Clicking my tongue, I simply tell him that I'm fine and will talk to him about what happened later. "Okay we need to get down to business, what would the story be, why did you have to come and live with us? "Wai
Archer WildWhoa, someone is in trouble. Walking out of the room, I make my way with Oliver down to the basement to get some sort of workout in for the day. Wrapping my knuckles, I turn towards the bag and start to work my stress out of my body. This damn girl is going to drive me insane. I have lived on this earth for so long that I should be making the one that drives women crazy, but here I am tossing and turning over one little girl that has me so far out of the game, I can practically see my parents laughing at me beyond the grave. Even though I have dreamed of finding a mate, I was more worried about taking over for my dad, and becoming Mythical Alpha. Then Fletcher had to come in and ruin it, by practically wiping out my whole lineage. Fletcher has been on my trail for the last several hundred years. But the thing is, I don't know how he is doing it. For what I know, he is human. He should have died centuries ago. But, something on this earth keeps him alive and well. Taking
Maybell Smith Walking into town is a whole lot prettier when you have a roof over your head, and food constantly on the table. I never realized how beautiful the world can be when you have everything you need. Yeah, Paison and I do really well sometimes. But even with both of our jobs, mine being in a bar, his being at a fast food restaurant, we can't have a place to stay without putting out names on the lease. And that meant being caught by Fletcher. I never thought that this could be the place I would find someone to settle down with. Not that I'm actually settling down. With this threat spiraling over our heads, no one can actually become fully relaxed. Walking down the sidewalk, I see the mall at the other end and decide that I have nothing better to do right now. The mall is like your basic city mall. You have the food cart. The smells coming from there can have a grown man down on his knees to taste a bit. Over at the other end, is the theater. It is so big that you could fit
Archer WildGetting presents from the mall is something that shouldn't get overlooked. The mall is the main source of drama with everyone. Like the two kids at the food court fighting over a plate of orange chicken. I have a list of things that I want to get for the twins, like a new car and other things that they need just to be in my house. Having something that they could call theirs. It might brighten their mood towards me. Walking towards the other end of the mall, I see the theater in the distance and walk toward the brightly lit building that gives me a headache everytime. I see some movement in the alleyway, and look to see what is going on. I look over to see a young man and a woman struggling together. Something about seeing someone hurt a woman rubs me the wrong way. Walking toward them, I'm just in time to see him stick her with a needle and catch her falling into his arms.Running at full speed this time, I pull her away from him, and look down at the brown haired girl
Maybell Smith I'm not as upset as upset in the morning as I was last night. And I definitely owe Paison an apology! Snuggling back into the pillow that has been framing my face, I wonder if it is even worth it to get out of bed today. Looking around, I make my way to the walk-in closet that I am starting to fall in love with. It's a natural brown color inside. The three shelfs make the closet seem bigger than it is. The best part though? The outfits that Asher bought me are sitting color coordinated and by size. I picked up the army, green crop, and the white jeans that fit my figure. I walk into the bathroom, and look at the person in the mirror that is staring back at me. If you told me five days ago that I would be standing in a mansion, staring into my own reflection, I would highly suggest that you go get your head checked. I pull my hair into a dancer's bun, and put the diamond hair accessory around the bun. I’m not sure when I became the person that would put on a face ful
Archer Wild. Well, that was a lot of information. The knowledge that I came to know today is sailing in the waters in my head. I would have never thought that a father could do this to their child. And what is wrong with Oliver? Looking at the man in question, he has the same expression on his face that mirrors mine. Paison, on the other hand, is looking like he wants to punch the wall. “Paison, you have to tell me everything that happened from the moment you stepped out of your childhood home.” His face then loses color and he looks down at his shoes and starts talking. Paison’s POV “What are we going to do?” The pain in Maybells voice brings me to my knees. Being six and living on your own is not the ideal situation at all. How could he, the rage that flows through my veins is blinding. Making me see a scarlet shade of red. “What we are going to do is something that is going to hurt, but we need to move forward. We have to move on from the one home that we know.” Where ar
Maybell Smith The dream that I had was weird. I swear, I just dreamed that my father showed up, and told me that he sold me out. Isn't that crazy. Blinking my eyes open, I stare at the ceiling and ponder what the hell happened. Especially because I have no clue how I got into this bed. Flinging myself upright, I look around at the familiar surroundings before me. The bedroom that Asher put me in when I got here, stund me into silence. I looked around, when all the memories came crashing back to me. Walking into the glorious mall. Smelling all the delicious smells in Bath and Body Works. Facing the person that had a hand in me being thrown out. Then, fighting the person that definitely did not have permission to touch me. All those things slap me in the face, when snoring brings me out of my head. Looking to my right, I see Asher sitting on a chair, with his top half on the bed. And this man is fast asleep. How the crap is he comfortable like this? Shaking him gently, he flings aw
