Graduation day was tomorrow away and Preston was a nervous wreck, why? I had no idea but seeing him thinking of anything that didn't have to do with his parents, was better than anything. He spent four days locked in our room crying a week prior about them not being here for him -until a pup had been found and brought to the clinic where he spends his days in- and and all I did was hold him and tell him that they'll be watching him from wherever they are and are proud of him. The stands were filled to capacity with family and friends of the graduates and a stupid part of me searched the crowd for my dad, but I knew he wouldn't be there among the parents and it hurt to think that he wasn't present but deep down I knew he was watching along with Mama and the rest of the family who wasn't here anymore. I looked across the yard to where my mate and son were and smiled. It's been a roller coaster ride but we work through it all. We've been together for two years today and every day has been a blessing.Two years ago, Preston and I made the decision to adopt the pup that had been left behind by his parents even if we weren't quite ready. We learned together what raising a child with special needs really was and learned what we needed to know to help him grow to be independent even if he has Down Syndrome. We named him Ajax Cayden. When I woke up this morning the last thing I expected was to wake up to Julianna banging in my bedroom door demanding the to get my ass up and in the shower before she came in dragged me in there herself.
