Amaya’s POV

His face went pale, and he stumbled back, his eyes locked on me like I was a ghost.

“Amaya?” he choked out my name, his gaze sweeping over me from head to toe. “Wait—what? You’re alive? That… that can’t be possible. How are you alive?”

My fists clenched at my sides as my heart pounded faster. My eyes darted around, searching for an escape while praying silently for Ryder to come to my rescue. “What are you doing here?” I asked, trying to change the topic.

“What do you mean? This is a resort. And don’t try to change the topic.”

Damn it.

He took a step closer, but I instinctively moved back, and my body tensed.

“You’re supposed to be dead,” he muttered, more to himself than to me. His brows furrowed like he was trying to make sense of something impossible. “I saw it happen, Amaya. I was there.”

Of course he was. How they thought I was dead, I didn’t know. I honestly didn’t care, but it was too late now.

I swallowed hard, forcing myself to keep my expression unreadable. “Well

Dante’s POVWife? The word echoed in my head over and over again, like a cruel fucking joke.I must have misheard. There was no way. No fucking way.But Amaya didn’t correct him. She didn’t laugh and say it was a mistake. We just stood there. With him.My breathing became ragged, my fists clenched so tight that my nails dug into my palms. The pain barely registered over the storm raging inside me.“What did you say?” I growled, already stepping forward. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to kill him for saying it or beat the truth out of him.His expression didn’t change. He just stared at me blankly with that same arrogant calmness.“You heard me,” he repeated. “Amaya is my wife.”Worse, he wrapped his hand around her waist like he had every fucking right to touch her.She was my mate. She was mine.I saw red. I could barely recognize the sound of my own voice when I let out a low, menacing chuckle.“That’s funny,” I said, tilting my head. “Because last I checked, my mate—” I bit out the word

Amaya’s POV“I can’t believe that bastard. He’s got some nerve. You’ve been gone for almost a year! I thought they said he was in pain over your death. He doesn’t look like someone who’s suffering. He hasn’t changed a bit—still the same arrogant bastard,” Ryder said, looking physically pissed as he paced back and forth. After the incident, the entire dinner was ruined. I had completely lost my appetite, and Ryder even had to cancel the other plans he had for me that night. Now we were back in my hotel room, and Ryder wouldn’t stop ranting about Dante.I had changed into a more comfortable outfit as I sat on the bed, quietly watching him pace. There was a lot I wanted to say, but my mind wouldn’t stop replaying the scene over and over again.“He couldn’t even pretend to care. That’s what pisses me off the most. How did you cope with that idiot all those years?” His question was directed at me, but I just remained silent, unsure of how to respond.I mean, what was I supposed to say? The

Dante’s POV Cyrus drank so much that night, and as predicted, I had to carry him back to his hotel room. I don’t know why he drank this much—it was so out of character for him—but who was I to stop him? “Where the hell have you two been?” Raven said as soon as I stepped into his suite. “I tried calling you guys, but you weren’t picking up. Even the mind link wasn’t working.” I exhaled, adjusting Cyrus’s weight on my shoulder before dumping him onto the couch. He groaned in protest but didn’t wake up. “Drinking,” I muttered, running a hand through my hair. “What?” Raven’s eyes widened. “Since when did Cyrus start drinking? What did you do to him?” “What do you mean, what did I do to him?” I said, clearly offended. “You should ask him when he wakes up.” Raven glared. She wasn’t upset that her brother got drunk. Nope. She was pissed because we ignored her. Raven hated being ignored. “Why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost?” she suddenly asked, catching me off guard, but I ignore

Amaya’s POV The moment he let go of me, I took my chance and ran. I didn’t look back. I didn’t even care to know who had interrupted so I could thank them later. I just ran until I was back in my hotel room. Slamming the door shut, I pressed my back against it, my chest rising and falling as I let out quick, uneven breaths, clutching the wet fabric of my nightgown. Why was he so keen on making this so much harder than it already was? I squeezed my eyes shut, pressing my palm against my forehead as if that could stop the memories from replaying. The entire purpose I had stepped out was to forget. How the hell was I supposed to do that now? I let out a shaky breath and forced myself to stand up, making my way into the bathroom and changing into a more comfortable outfit. This time, an oversized t-shirt and shorts, before stepping back into the bedroom. That’s when I noticed Ryder wasn’t on the bed. I assumed he had returned to his room, and I felt guilty knowing I was the one who

Dante’s POV That night, she slipped away. I searched for her, only to find out the next morning that she was no longer at the hotel. My stay became useless after that. I left instantly, returned to my pack, and paid a spy to investigate that idiot, Ryder. That was how I found out Amaya had been secretly living in his pack this whole time—while I thought she was dead. And the worst part? She was actually married to him. Then who the hell had I buried? I had her grave secretly dug up and ran a DNA test on the remains. The results confirmed what I already knew. It wasn’t Amaya. It was a nurse. The same nurse who had gone missing. I had only mistaken her for Amaya because of the damn necklace around her neck. I chuckled to myself, laughing at the absurdity of it all. A simple mistake—because of a necklace—I had burned a stranger, thinking I was saying goodbye to my mate. It felt like the universe was mocking me, playing some sick, twisted game. But at least it had given me another

Amaya POV “I want a divorce,” I said, but there was no response. “I said I want a divorce,” I repeated louder this time, clenching my fists at my sides. Alpha Dante finally looked up from his desk, staring at me like I had come to throw another tantrum. “You are tired. Go and have a nap or something,” he said dismissively. I bit down on my lips and, in annoyance, slammed the divorce papers I had secretly gathered on his desk. “What is this?” he muttered in irritation, flipping through the papers. “These are the divorce papers. I have my signature already on them. All that’s left is your signature.” His brow furrowed, and his jaw clenched. Then suddenly, he tore the papers into shreds, causing me to gasp. “What… what do you think you are doing? I spent months gathering that… why would you…” “I will not divorce!” His voice thundered, causing me to flinch. He tossed the shredded papers across the room. “You are my wife. The Luna of the Moonshade Pack. How dare you ask for

I woke up the next morning with a very high fever, but I still managed to get out of bed. Outside my bedroom window, I could hear chants from protesters who wanted me gone from the pack. This had become a routine; they did it every morning until they were chased away by the guards. I got dressed and headed downstairs to join Dante for breakfast. Although I didn’t want to, he had insisted, not giving me much of a choice. So, against my will, I had to see him every morning before he left the packhouse. Today was different, though. Kara was sitting at the breakfast table, smiling as she poured Dante a cup of coffee. “Good morning, Amaya,” she said, as if she wasn’t sitting in my house, at my table, sharing coffee with my husband while I sat at the far end, away from both of them. “Good morning,” I muttered, keeping my eyes down. Dante, on the other hand, didn’t look up. He was busy reading something on his tablet. “Amaya, you look pale,” she added just as I was about to take

Amaya’s POV The days that followed, I started noticing Dante more and more around the house. Although we never truly had a proper conversation, he wasn’t yelling like he used to. One morning, I surprised myself by waking up earlier than usual. Since there was nothing to do, I decided to take a stroll around the packhouse. I had barely stepped past the front entrance when something hard and sharp struck my face. Pain exploded through my skull, and I staggered back as warm blood trickled down my cheek. “You don’t deserve to live among us!” a woman’s voice shrieked. I wiped the blood away from my eye and blinked at the figure standing before me. A middle-aged woman, dressed in ragged clothes, her tear-streaked face twisted with rage. In both hands, she clutched large rocks. She was probably a protester. But how had she even gotten inside? “You don’t even recognize me, do you?” she hissed when I didn’t respond. “My son—he was only fifteen when your father had him tort

Amaya’s POV “We have a problem.” I gripped the handle of my suitcase a little tighter as I heard those words. “What… what do you mean?” “There aren’t any flights available. I tried calling, I tried checking online, but everything’s booked solid,” Ryder said in frustration. “Apparently, some huge event is happening in town, and people from all over have taken up all the flights.” “What about another airport?” “I checked. Same issue.” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “The only flights available are next week. A full seven days from now.” “What about the bus, the train… anything?” I asked, hoping there would be some kind of alternative, but he shook his head. I exhaled sharply. Seven days? No, I couldn’t stay here. There were a lot of what ifs? going on in my head. “Amaya.” Ryder said in a softer tone, stepping forward. Then, he placed his warm hand around my shoulder. “It’s not all that bad,” he said gently. “We could still continue with the plans I had for your bi

I cursed under my breath, my heart pounding as I spun around, pushing through the crowd, not glancing back once. The concert was still in full swing, but all I could hear was the blood rushing in my ears. Shit. Shit. Shit. I shouldn’t have come to the bar alone. I should have sent Ryder instead. Ryder. My eyes darted toward the VIP section where I knew he was waiting for me. When he saw me, he smiled, but then his brow furrowed as he stared at my empty hands. “Where are the drinks?” “We should go,” I said as I got close enough, pulling him by the arm. Ryder’s brow furrowed deeper as I tugged at him. “Why? It’s only the first half. The best part hasn’t even started yet.” “I changed my mind,” I said urgently, pulling him toward the exit. But he didn’t budge. “Why so suddenly? Did something happen?” “I’m fine!” I snapped, a little too harshly. His eye

Dante’s POVToday was Amaya’s birthday, but I was standing in front of her grave.A bouquet of white lilies—her favorite—was in my hand, the stems damp from the rain that had already started to fall.We were supposed to leave for Vallora three days ago for the concert. We had the plane tickets and everything set, but I couldn’t bring myself to leave without seeing her first.“Happy birthday,” I muttered, crouching down to place the bouquet next to the cold marble. My fingers remained on the petals for a moment before I pulled away.Without anything else to say, I stood there. For how long, I wasn’t sure. Long enough for the rain to soak through my jacket, for my hair to stick to my face, for the chill to settle deep in my bones. But I couldn’t move. It felt wrong to leave her behind—again.Drops slid down my cheeks, mingling with the tears I refused to let fall. My throat burned as I swallowed hard.“I’m sorry,” I whispered, but the words dissolved into the sound of the rain.I return
