Chapter 99

Serena POV:

I don't know if I'm unconscious or awake. Why do I see both Elias and my past image? In one ear, I heard Elias's familiar voice; in the other, I listened to my cries after being rejected.

In the darkness, I saw a four- or five-year-old girl sitting in a corner, curled up with her trembling body. I reached my hand to pull her out of the darkness but quickly realized I couldn't touch her. Then I saw Luna Irene from many years ago. She wore a red dress and carried a rope. Then, the string somehow turned into needles and crude coils. Irena pulled the child up, then cruelly sewing through his mouth. That child cried extremely pitifully; she struggled and protested as if it were useless. Then, from the glimmer of light through the door frame, I saw that child's face clearly.

I shivered, breathing rapidly, but no matter how hard I tried, the feeling of suffocation still overwhelmed me.

That was me 16 years ago, and my face was covered in blood!
