Kane holds up his hands and lowers his tone as he takes small slow steps toward me as he says,

“Em, relax… It’s okay… Em, listen to me… It’s okay, relax…”

He continues to approach me. Without thinking, I continue to back away from him until I end up on my arse, sitting on the steps to the porch. Without touching me, Kane keeps his hands where I can see them and sits next to me. I relax a little when he stops looking at me and faces the trees. He then says in a soft tone,

“It’s okay, Em, you can use it as a last resort… If you can’t destroy it, then you will have no choice but to use Odette and the effect of the red moon eclipse will have on her…”

It takes me a moment to catch my breath, which is a little easier now that we are not moving and he isn’t looking at me. After a few moments, he turns his attention back to me and says,

“From what I understand, Ali will be back this evening to help you get ready and then Finn, Benjamin and Matt will be escorting you and her to the ceremo
