I am startled awake by a very angry Lexis. She comes storming into the bedroom yelling,

“What did you do with her? Where is she?”

I sit up in the bed and look at her as if she had grown two or maybe three heads. I shake my head and rasp,

“What are you talking about?”

“Where is she?”

“She who? Sweetheart?”

“The servant you gave me for our bonding?”

“I haven’t been down there since I gave her to you.”

“Who else has been in here?”

“No one, everyone knows that my chambers are off limits. There are only a select few that are allowed in here.”

“Who?”

“You, Mother, Finn, Ali and Trinity.”

“When was the last time Finn, Ali, or Trinity have been in here?”

I have to think about that question for a few minutes, trying to clear the fog and haze in my mind before I can say,

“Trinity hasn’t been in here since before my birthday. Ali hasn’t been in here since she had her Vampups and Finn he very rarely comes in just to the door. My mother doesn’t have a reason to come in here,
