I had to remind myself to breathe, with each step I took towards Mr. Hayden.

I watched him with a fearful heart as he stepped into the room he had brought me to while I was unconscious. I murmur a quick prayer before stepping into the room after him.

I stand by the door like a statue, waiting for my punishment. I could feel the pounding of my heart as I watched him hang up, before tucking his phone in his pockets.

There was silence, an awful lot of silence.

I watched him as he tucked his hands in his pockets, with his back still facing me, he finally spoke. Breaking the silence.

"You like it?" I hear him ask, I blink.

"What?" I suddenly blurt in disbelief.

He doesn't turn to me but I can tell from what he says next that he was slightly pissed.

"I said," He begins slowly, making dread grow at the pit of my stomach.

"Do you like it?" He asks again, and my head spins.

"Do I like... what?" I ask again, and this time he turns to me, locking his eyes with mine before he replies.

I wake up with a mild head ache. Sitting upright, the memories of last night came flooding back. I instinctively place my hands against my cheeks, failing to stop myself from blushing. I still couldn't believe he actually had Mr. Ron arrange for dinner that late for me.A sigh escapes my lips, I shake my head to clear my thoughts. I pull off the blanket, slipping out of bed and putting on my flip flops. Then I silently, yet swiftly, made my way to the bathroom, to have a shower.Fifteen minutes later, I find myself frowning down at my clothes which I had scattered across the bed. The clothes I had, weren't good enough. I had been doing my best to keep them intact to save money.Yet, my good for nothing father, had deemed it fit to lavish all the money I had saved on gambling and alcohol. A frustrated sigh subconsciously escapes my lips, as I dump it back on the bed."What on earth will I wear?" I ask myself softly, my hands running against my face. After some seconds of contemplatio

  • My Mafia   Chapter 10

It felt like hours, feeling tensed and uncomfortable in the car with him.I finally calmed my nerves, the moment I realized we had arrived. I try not to lose my sanity, as I watch the driver slowly get out of the car. The moment he pulls open the door for Mr. Hayden, I don't waste another minute before getting out of the car myself.I take in a deep breath, feeling extremely grateful that I hadn't lost total control. Just another minute longer and I would have lost it completely. I would found myself clawing at the window and yelling at the top of my voice for the driver to let me out. Thankfully, that didn't happen. The sound of a car screeching to a halt behind the car both I and Mr. Hayden just got down from, jolts me back to reality. I stare at the car for a minute, wondering who it could belong to. Then it hit me, those were the guards of Mr. Hayden. How could I forget?Mr. Hayden's voice catches my attention, and I find myself staring at his masked face. He didn't like to reve

Hayden heaves a silent sigh of relief, noting the silence in the mansion. It is extremely late, and he had hoped he would be able to evade Mr. Ron, he didn't have the strength for another lecture on punctuality. "And where are you returning from, young man?" a familiar voice asks, from the dark corner of the dining table. Just then, a familiar figure got up, and began to walk towards him.He braced himself, 'here we go, again...'"I had Harsh inform you," he defended, still clutching his blazer in his hand."that still doesn't give you enough reason to be so late, where were you?" True to his word, Mr Hayden had the agreement prepared within a frame of three to four days, and had them sent to me in my room. He made sure, I was in no rush to sign it, and gave me as much time as I needed. Thus, I knew it was what I wanted. Independence, freedom, and nothing else. And finally, I was getting the opportunity, obviously, I wouldn't let it go just like that. So, with conviction in my heart, I signed the papers. A Month Later... It's a wonderful morning, and another day of work with Mr. Hayden. I've been working in his company as one of the best chefs, for a month now. I had woken up as early as I used to for the past month. I ascend the stairs, and aim for Mr Hayden's room to give him the coffee I had made for him. I knock loudly, to wake him up. Over the past month, part of the things I learned is that he is a deep sleeper. And knocking politely won't do the job. I don't stop till I hear him groaning, and shifting in the sheets. A smile slowly crosses my

Everything unexpectedly goes on smoothly. After work, I wrap things up, checking the time on the wrist watch Mr. Hayden had recently bought for me. He had insisted, saying it was a reward for my hardwork.I had two more minutes to hurry and leave, Mr Hayden is always on time, and he hates it whenever I get into the car late. With a sigh, after making sure the kitchen looked extremely clean, I made my way to the head chef. To tell her I'd be leaving now. I drape my apron at the usual corner, pick my bag and aim for her office. My steps echo against the wooden floor as I near her office. With a knock on the door for permission, I push it open. Only to see a gray haired lady, leaning down on her table with her reading glasses. Deeply, engrossed in the documents she had been sorting."Ms. Sasha, I'll be going now." I inform her, with a little smile. She lifts her head at my words, eyes squinting her to identify me. After some seconds, a small smile makes its way to her face. "Ah, River

Everything around me, seemed to slow down. And for a moment, seeing Hayden this angry was new... but what was more terrifying was the cold chill that came with it.The moment those words left his mouth, everyone present fell silent, too stuned to speak or move. Suddenly, the air in the room began to feel heavy. I tried my best to calm my raging heart, to breathe... and tried my best to not panic. But failed miserably, the moment he let go of my hand. My breath got caught in my throat, and suddenly, it felt like I would collapse. I had to clutch my fist tight to not fall on my knees and weeze.I needed water... and fast. With each step Hayden too towards my unfaltering father, the more my chest constricted.
