My Mafia

My Mafia

Being the daughter of an alcoholic, isn't a great thing. But what is worse is losing my mother at the age of seven. My father, Oliver Kruiz has hated me ever since, thinks I took his wife away from him. When in reality, it was his failure to show up that caused her death. As though hating me wasn't enough to keep me depressed, he tried to get me married to a man twenty years older than I was. I don't think twice before running away, the night before my wedding. I was meant to be careful but got careless, and nearly ended up being molested by thugs. That is before I'm saved by my dark hero: Hayden Wren. Things didn't exactly start smoothly, but that didn't mean they ended well either. I had phobia for thugs because my mother was killed by them; while trying to protect me. Everything suddenly goes south, when I find out the man who had saved me was no different. Which leaves me thinking: is he a friend or foe? --- River Kruiz, the daughter of a drunkard, Oliver Kruiz. She has phobia for thugs, and even eloped the night before her wedding. Nearly for this same reason. But what happens when she finds herself growing attached to a mafia?

My little feet were struggling to keep up, as the grip on my mother's hand tightened.Wait... little?Slowly, the scene began to shift as a terrifying unsettling feeling set in. Mom, I had lost her thirteen years ago. What...Her breathing quickened, as she picked me hastily off my feet. Her breathing was laboured, and more urgent now. "We're trapped." She said. The noise up ahead, began to grow louder. The sound of clashing blades, and gun shots could be heard from two story buildings away. Before I could wrap my head around the situation, I feel my mom pull me closer to her as she turns around a corner to hide. She was panting, I was scared too. It made me hold unto her tighter. I watched as her silver hair sticks to her cheeks due to the sweat."Mom, are we going to die?" I remember asking, she had immediately turned away fro

"What?" I blurted, totally taken aback by his answer. Slowly, a smile curved on his lips before he added, "I wanted to be sure the scum bag didn't harm you again." Subconsciously, I release a sigh of relief. "Oh that," I say, gathering my tools as I spoke. "Don't worry, Hayden has already made sure of that." I said softly. Looking up, I don't miss the frown that makes its way to Mr. Thomas' face. "Mr. Thomas, is something wrong??" I asked carefully, his eyes narrowed at my question, then as though it hadn't a smooth smile appeared on his face. "You may carry on, I came to discuss something important with Hayden." Mr. Thomas said, tucking his hands in his pockets as he turned to leave. I shake me head, "Oh don't worry, I was done already." I said, getting up from where I was squatting. "Allow me to guide you to the sitting room, so you can wait comfortably." I offered, to which he nodded after some time. I lead him to the sitting area in silence, before excusing myself to take
