My Mafia
Being the daughter of an alcoholic, isn't a great thing. But what is worse is losing my mother at the age of seven.
My father, Oliver Kruiz has hated me ever since, thinks I took his wife away from him. When in reality, it was his failure to show up that caused her death.
As though hating me wasn't enough to keep me depressed, he tried to get me married to a man twenty years older than I was.
I don't think twice before running away, the night before my wedding.
I was meant to be careful but got careless, and nearly ended up being molested by thugs. That is before I'm saved by my dark hero: Hayden Wren.
Things didn't exactly start smoothly, but that didn't mean they ended well either.
I had phobia for thugs because my mother was killed by them; while trying to protect me. Everything suddenly goes south, when I find out the man who had saved me was no different.
Which leaves me thinking: is he a friend or foe?

Chapter: Chapter 29It'd been a few days since Mr. Thomas had come to take me back. The question he had asked me that day still lingering in my mind. This morning, both I and Hayden had come to office together as usual. He had also smiled at me, before going up to his office. Even though, it was small it meant a lot. I couldn't erase it from my mind afterwards. Moments later, i found myself happily humming as I worked in the kitchen. Making sure to make the orders as quickly as I could without any delay. I was almost done rounding up the last order, when I heard a familiar voice call my name from behind. I pause, stiffening a bit, before turning around. I arc a brow in question, seeking answers from him for suddenly interrupting me. The guy who had called me was Jake. He had a jovial and naive personality being around him felt like a breath of fresh air. Though the little charisma he gave off, often reminded me of Eva more than i cared to admit. He clears his throat, stuttering before he speaks.

Chapter: Chapter 28Third Person Pov: It was already time to go home for the night. River stiffens as the word hits her like a hard brick.'Home...'It just couldn't leave her mind. River says, peeking in through the wooden door, leading to Miss Sasha's office. She hums in reply. Her reading glasses were currently on, and her attention seemed fixated on the documents she was currently going through."Get home safely." Chapter: Chapter 27The silence in the room becomes palpable, as both Mr. Ron and Hayden approach us. "What happened to her?" Hayden asks Mira, who was still shaking in fear. She opens her mouth to answer but nothing comes out. Her hands were shivering. Just before Hayden could say anything more, I immediately step in. "I burnt myself." I blurt out and all eyes turn to me. Immediately, I regret the decision as I fight the urge to shrink back into the couch. As though Hayden read my thoughts, his eyes softened as they stared at me. Just for a split second. The switch was so fast, it got me confused. I open my mouth to say something else, but Mr. Ron cuts me off. "How could you be so careless?" I hear him ask, as Hayden approaches me. My mind goes blank as I watch him grab the first aid kit, before kneeling beside me. Both Mr. Ron's and Mira's eyes widen at this. I on the other hand, didn't know what to make of the gesture. "Show me where you're hurt." he tells me. His voice is so soft and gentle

Chapter: Chapter 26It was a weekend today, and I still couldn't get over the nightmare I had had the night before. Taking slow steady steps down the stair case, I savor the silence in my environment, as I slowly approach the kitchen. I could hear the sounds of cutleries clashing against each other, fully aware that Mr. Ron's daughter was currently present. Pausing for a moment, I take a small deep breath, making sure to put on a smile before making my way in. "Hey.." I greet with a small wave. Her eyes light up the moment she locks eyes with me, "Good timing, I need your help." She exclaimed. Dumping a spatula in the sink as she quickly goes over to check on whatever she had on the gas. "umm.. sure." I say a bit weakly, but do my best to brush off the pain and heaviness in my chest as I set to work. Moving over to the sink to wash out the dirty dishes. I don't wait for her to tell me what else was needed. I go as far as drying the plates and take my time to neatly arrange them before carefully cl

Chapter: Chapter 25Eva: I haven't heard from River for over a month now. It is really worrying, especially after the incident which had happened few days after her disappearance. With a sigh, I begin to tidy the kitchen, but my mind can't help but differ back to the incidents of that night. A shudder makes its way down my spine as the memory resurfaces. If my dad hadn't shown up in the nick of time, with an AK 47 gun, I know for a fact... Mr. Arnold Knot will stop at nothing to get the truth out of me. The sound of the door to the entrance of the restaurant clicking shut, snaps me out of my trance. Immediately my eyes land on the wall clock, noting that it was already time to end my shift. If I'm any more late than I already am, I can't guarantee my safety. I take off my apron, then proceed to drape it over a hanger. I grab my bag and make my way towards the exit, making way for the next shift to begin. I inhale deeply, sighing as I exhale the night air. It sure would have been a very pea

Chapter: Chapter 24My little feet were struggling to keep up, as the grip on my mother's hand tightened.Wait... little?Slowly, the scene began to shift as a terrifying unsettling feeling set in. Mom, I had lost her thirteen years ago. What...Her breathing quickened, as she picked me hastily off my feet. She was running now, my face buried in her chest while she did her best to cover my hair.I could hear the pounding of her heart as she came to a sudden stop. Her breathing was laboured, and more urgent now. "We're trapped." She said. The noise up ahead, began to grow louder. The sound of clashing blades, and gun shots could be heard from two story buildings away. Before I could wrap my head around the situation, I feel my mom pull me closer to her as she turns around a corner to hide. She was panting, I was scared too. It made me hold unto her tighter. I watched as her silver hair sticks to her cheeks due to the sweat."Mom, are we going to die?" I remember asking, she had immediately turned away fro
