DACIANA'S POV
General Conri departed, and shortly after, a soldier entered bearing an abundance of food and fruits. I started to drool as soon as I saw the food. “Thank you.” As the soldier set down the food basket, I spoke to him. “I'm here to help you. I will be available to assist in any way I can if you need it.” The soldier said, a little bowing. I gave a small nod, focusing mostly on the food in front of me. The soldier exited the room after a brief period. I carefully took the food out of the food basket and opened the plate to see what was waiting for me. “Oh my!” I squealed with delight when I saw the dish in front of me. It was spicy and scorching as hell. A spicy lamb soup served with baguette bread, a peppery hot sauce and well-cooked long grains. There were also Apples and bananas in the basket. “How much I longed to eat good food!” To no one, in particular, I muttered. I broke the baguette bread gently in half, put it into the lamb soup, and pointed it directly at my lips. “Uhmm.” I groaned a little as I chewed on the relish. I've never tasted lamb soup like this one before. Likewise, I removed a fork from the basket and submerged it in the lamb soup to extract the meat. I took a tiny piece and tasted it after gently placing it on a spotless plate. The lamb was soft and cooked to perfection. As I took another bite to eat, the entire savory flavour melted in my mouth. I continued to stuff my mouth with lamb and bread until I realised that I had been starving and ravenous since I had left the dungeon. What would happen if General Conri's men didn't find me? I could have probably died of starvation. Even worse, being devoured by a rogue animal. I felt my wolf regaining her vigour as well. Felt as though we had given up on one another. I genuinely believed that the dungeon would be the end of my world. Grabbing the bowl of water beside me, I gulped its content in satisfaction and turned to the long-grain brown rice and sauce. This was a meal my mother loved preparing. Ever since her death, I haven't eaten them. Heaving a sad sigh, I scooped the brown rice into my mouth and chewed it. It tasted nothing like my mother's, but it was still rather good. I eventually finished all the dishes and exhaled a satisfied sigh. I was so full that it was really hard for me to stand. Slowly staggering to my feet, I surveyed my surroundings. Oddly, I haven't noticed this room's distinctiveness. The interior designs were unusual yet exquisite. Each sculpture was expertly painted after being carved from wood. The bed was large, and the floor was terrazzo. Was this the room of the General? If I had to stay here, where would he sleep? Probably, I had my room, and he just brought me here to Treat my wounds and feed me. I slowly walked to a locker and sat on the stool in front of it. I was tempted to open it but was scared. What if he suddenly appears? Then, get angry for meddling with his belongings, then he might hand me over to those heartless people. As these thoughts drifted to my mind, I hurriedly stood up and went to the bed. I sat slowly, wincing a bit due to the injury I had in my thigh. Suddenly, a knock could be heard, and I couldn't help but wonder who it was. I didn't think I had any form of privacy, so why were they knocking on the door? “Come in?” Not sure of what to really say, I spoke audibly to the person. The door opened Soon enough to reveal General Conri. I sighed softly in relief as he became visible. “Were you scared?” I heard him ask, and I looked up at him. “Uhmm. Not really. I didn't know you were the one.” I replied softly. General Conri chuckled a bit as he strolled casually to my side. “You don't have to feel scared. I wouldn't harm you. If I wanted to harm you, I could have killed you the instant you were brought to me.” he muttered slowly. “Oh.” I simply said, still feeling a bit anxious. “Are you filled? Should I order more food?” He asked dotingly. “I appreciate your kind gestures towards me. I am so filled right now; it would be a waste if I consume more.” I answered sheepishly. “You need to eat a lot. You're skinny. And you need a lot of rest and energy because you're going to be training.” I looked at General Conri, who was casually talking, and I couldn't help but smile. He has been nice to me since my arrival. The fact that he wanted to seek revenge on my behalf was something I was grateful for. “Your first training starts tomorrow; there's not enough time to waste. The more we lie lazily, the more things get difficult to tackle. I want you to have enough sleep and rest before we start. I already assigned one of my men to you. Summon him anytime you need him.” General Corni stated as he put his hands in his pocket. “Thank you.” I blurted out. “Huh?" He asked, looking a bit confused. “Thank you for everything. I'm deeply grateful. I really don't know how to repay you. I'll be indebted to you for a long time.” I said slowly, bowing a little. “You shouldn't thank me. We are both benefiting from all these. I have my mission there, and so have you. We are taking this revenge together, and we will conquer.” General Conri stated seriously. I nodded in affirmation as my fingers fidgeted due to the silence that engulfed the room. “Well-” “How-” We both said together, and I couldn't help but smile a bit. “You go first. Ladies first.” General Conri stated. “Oh. Ok. Well, I just wanted to ask who prepared the food I ate earlier.” I asked, a bit timid. General Corni chuckled at my expression and folded his arms on his broad chest. “It may seem as though you enjoyed the meal.” He commented. “Well, I did. The meal was delicious. Coincidentally, the long-grain brown rice was my best food.” I smiled lightly. “Was?” He creased a brow. “Well, though it was my best food, I stopped eating them the day my Mother passed away. She was the only person who prepared them for me. So when she passed away, I didn't want to eat it again.” I said sadly. “I'm sincerely sorry about your mother.” He muttered slowly. “It's fine. I believe she's in a happy place with the moon goddess.” I smiled slightly. General Conri nodded, too, as he looked away. After that, another phase of silence toyed the room. How I hate silence so much! Not wanting to make things more awkward as it is now, I decided to speak out. “You also wanted to say something,” I spoke out. “Oh. Yeah. Hmm, never mind.” He smiled dryly. That was odd! Thought he also had what to say a while ago. “You said you also wanted to seek revenge, right?” I asked immediately, not wanting the conversation to end. “Yeah.” He stated simply. “What have they done to you?” I asked curiously. “I don't think it's the right time for you to know. You would eventually come to know about it. Just be patient." Conri stated. “Okay.” I affirmed. “I would rather take my leave. I have some time-sensitive matters to settle.” He said as he headed to the door. “You should rest. You need it.” He concluded as he took one glance at me before exiting the room. I looked down a bit, starting to drift into my thoughts. What could make General Conri this vengeful? What happened to him in the past? Why was he bent on getting revenge? And I immediately hoped my clan wasn't involved in any way because that would mean doom.THREE WEEKS LATERCONRI'S POV. These three weeks were packed with pieces of training upon training; I watched her grow into a beautiful woman and a beautiful soldier. Her confidence had increased from the last time I saw her, probably because the last time I saw her, she was a shy, timid girl, and when she came back, I met her completely battered and bruised. She was strong and fit to be the Luna she should have been, but I was selfishly grateful for Howard's stupidity that made him reject her and push her into my laps, but that doesn't mean I won't make them all pay for what they did to her. The fact that her father was also in support of her execution annoyed me greatly. Our relationship wasn't what I was expecting it would be. We weren't all lovey-dovey like I expected, but she trusted me immensely and trust, they say, is the foundation of every relationship. I'd promised that I would take her back to the pack, and now I was fulfilling my promise to her. Jared, the camp make-u
DACIANA'S POVAs I swam across the lake, I stared at the moon with its beautiful light illuminating the lake, giving it a glittery look. It looked beautiful and captivating, like scattering diamonds over water. My bones, which had been aching all through the ride, were now relaxed in the water. My muscles felt good as well. I stopped swimming and looked at the spot where Corni was standing guard, and his back turned to me. I was grateful for meeting him and for knowing him, too. He was a good man, and the way he didn't think twice to help me really amazed me, even though Howard was also his Alpha. If we were caught, it could be seen as treason, and we would be put to our deaths. I decided to do one more lap before I got out of the water when I felt something coil around my leg. I tried to shake it off, thinking it was seaweed, but instead, I felt it coil around my two legs. I wiggled my legs together, but it wouldn't budge. I looked inside the water, and it was a freaking seaweed,
CORNI'S POVWhen I woke up the next morning, before the crack of dawn, Daciana was fitted against my body like a glove. Her hands were over my neck, our faces were close to each other, her body was pressed against me like a sandwich, and her leg was intertwined with mine. I smiled at our position and what I wouldn't give to wake up like this every morning. Last night had given me such a scare that I didn't want to risk it anymore. I wanted to go at her own pace and give her time to want and desire me herself, but after what happened, I'm starting to rethink my decision.I gently pulled her off me and got off the small makeshift bed, and she hugged the pillow as soon as I left. I walked out of the tent and mindlinked all the soldiers to get ready to move. I took one of the buckets we had and fetched a good amount of water for Daci that she would use to take her bath. I didn't want her anywhere near that lake. I sent my men to the lake to have their bathe, but not without holding a
DACIANA'S POVCompletely ignoring my father's presence, I stared at Ava, amusement dancing in my eyes. “Of course. That's if you have any business with going to the other side of the world. I haven't been in these parts longer than two months, and I'm sure I would remember meeting someone like you.” “Of course, forgive me for my quick suspicion about you. I promise that it was done from the goodness of my heart.” Ava gave a slight gesture that couldn't be passed as a bow, but it could be seen as a sign of respect. “Ava, why don't you escort the couple to their newly made bedroom? I'm sure they must be exhausted from the long journey.” Howard said without glancing at Ava. His eyes were on me the whole time. Gross. He wasn't even trying to hide it, and it almost felt like he was silently challenging Corni for my hand. Only if he knew who I really was. He would probably be racing in the opposite direction, screaming bloody murder.“Alpha, I'm very grateful for your kind thoughts, but
CORNI'S POVI stared at Daciana as she blushed a thousand shades of red. I was expecting that question, to be honest. Being actual mates did include actually mating. “It all depends on you, little mate. Do you want us to have sex?” I asked, my voice going a notch lower, almost like a husky growl, because, in reality, I would love nothing more than to have her naked under me on my bed, but I didn't want to scare her away. Her eyes snapped up to mine, and she bit her lips like her life depended on it. Her cheeks were no longer red. They were hot…like fire hot. I placed my thumb on her chin and pulled at her lips. “Don't damage your lips so early in life. That opportunity should only be given to your mate.” I rubbed the pad of my thumb across the soft tissue, secretly hoping I could have a taste of it once more.“Why are you playing with me? Does it help you sleep at night?” She asked breathlessly.“How ironic when it's the one that actually keeps me awake.” I grinned, my canines flash
DACIANA'S POVMy body had a warm fire burning in it, an uncontrollable one. It was the first time I had experienced something like this, this heat, this unexplainable desire to have someone, to want him. I've never been in a relationship before, and my father always sang in my head that he would kill me if I ever gave myself to someone other than my mate. And look at me now, doing what he threatened against. Ding!Corni paused, my eyes flew open, and our lips were just inches away from each other. Corni pulled away and sighed. “The oven is calling me.” Our forehead was pressed against each other, and I was hoping he would forget the oven and continue what he was about to do. But then my stomach growled loudly, and I flushed. “We have to feed that little monster.” He pointed toward my stomach, placed his head into my neck, and moaned, “The wait is killing me.” He took a big whiff of my scent, his hands gripped my nails tightly, and just when I was about to dig my hands in his hai
CORNI'S POV“Corni,” I opened my eyes and stared at her. She looked worried. “Are you okay?” I just stared at her, at her clear, expressive eyes. She didn't look like she'd cried in her life. Her eyes were just too white. I felt her small human hands stroke my fur.“It's alright, everything will be fine. You don't need to say a word.” And she gave me that beautiful smile, and I almost thought my heart would jump out of my skin. She repositioned herself so that she could cuddle me better, all the while, my head was pressed against her chest, and I buried deeper into it, my eyes closing as her caress and the softness of her breasts led me to sleep. Before I woke up, my ears wiggled around, listening for things, but all I heard were nightwalkers announcing their presence. An owl was even hooting nearby. My eyes opened slightly, and even in the darkness, I could see. I looked around and realised that we'd fallen asleep outside. The fire from earlier had died out long ago, and no smoke was
CORNI'S POV“Enough to accept her as my mate. Why? Are you doubting her?” I raised my brows.“Of course not. I wouldn't dare do that. It's just…she gives off this aura of bad energy.” She smiled.“I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding. What about your Luna, Alpha? I haven't seen her since I got back. Is she okay?” I asked with false curiosity.I watched Howard and Beta Whitemane's faces turn red while Ava looked like she was about to cry.“What happened? Why the long faces?” “Moana is dead, Corni.” Howard replied, and I gasped. “Oh, my goodness. How did it happen?” “My daughter killed her sister.” George Whitemane growled, his fist clenched.“But why would she do that? I thought she left the pack to further her training. When did she get back?” I questioned.“A few months back. Turns out she's the Alpha's mate, but when she realized that he was with Moana, she couldn't bear the sight of it and thus poisoned her only sister.” Ava said, her voice thick with emotion.“Wow, I didn't th
