Emily wore a grin throughout her ride to the hotel.

She ordered dinner the exact way Jacqueline had asked her to, sitting down and having a good meal. Forgetting that if she hadn't been so occupied with panicking and crying, she would have scoffed when Jacqueline asked her to 'check-in, order something delicious and eat, then get comfortable.'

Because there was no way she was going to relax when the stakes were so high. But there she was, sipping white wine like she'd just put an end to all the problems in the world.

Her earlier peril had been completely wiped off her mind. As she ate her meal, she recalled her encounter with Andrew with a silly grin.

She had just stepped out of a very refreshing bath when Jacqueline called. Emily squealed as she picked up the call, her heart bubbling with excitement.

"Girl I'm sorry I called later than I promised. Did you get to the hotel okay? I just ended a series of conference calls with Samantha and a few team members."

Andrew found his storage unit about an hour after he'd parted ways with Emily, but he didn't go in immediately. His anxiety at what lay inside shot his nerves up and he walked past it, fidgeting until he thought he was ready. The moment he pushed open the doors, he was hit with the nostalgic scent of home. He stood frozen with his hands on the door for minutes before recovering himself. He quickly shut himself in, to preserve the scent and trailed his fingers on the walls to find the light switch. The lights flickered for seconds before coming on, revealing a new albeit old world to Andrew. The effect was immediate.Combined with the scent that occupied Andrew's senses, the sight of little items that once belonged to Andrew and his mother, destroyed the locks holding his memories. Outside the storage unit, Andrew finally looked at his phone. There were a bazillion missed calls.Looking at the time he scoffed, it was just 11 am in the morning and everyone was acting like he'd fallen off the face of the earth. As far as he was concerned, the only person that deserved an apology was Emily, for being unable to check up on her. Especially after the night she had. Despite the little jabs she'd thrown at him, he noticed from the slight quake in her voice that her night hadn't gone so well. He was about to look through his notifications when he looked at the date. His mouth fell open. He'd been out for more than 24 hours! Now he understood why his wolf was so antsy. He could feel it itching for a run. New York was already so confining and his wolf being stuck in a bunker with little space and even smaller air while its host seemed to be on the verge of death was enough to send it into overdrive. But one couldn't relive 7 years of his life in one night, could he? Still

Chapter 76Emily spent the rest of her day resting in her apartment and looking through the records the team shared. So far there wasn't any notable pattern and it seemed like every time the fight club disappeared, it popped back up again within weeks in a whole new environment and a brand new look. Groaning, Emily rubbed her temples. She'd been reconfirming all the details and testimonies they had about the club so far. She'd even listed them out; One. The location of the club itself was well known by most supernaturals. It was a hotspot in the black market that couldn't be shut down. Different Agencies had tried and failed woefully.Two. The guests that attended and bet during the fights were high-profile men and women of the society and their identities were protected at all costs. Three. The duty of staff members was swapped regularly and most times the staff members had no idea what department they'd be shipped to hourly.Four. The club itself was heavily guarded and doused i

The worst thing that could happen was Andrew not replying to any of her texts. It had been several hours since she'd sent those texts and she'd gotten no reply. Emily's heart had skipped a thousand beats as she waited for a reply that didn't come.It proved to be the perfect distraction because she'd abandoned the work she was supposed to be doing and was thinking about her risky text message. It made her feel 15 again and she disliked the tension surrounding it.Emily fidgeted around her living room, with different emotions running through her mind. She'd blamed herself and considered deleting them, but they'd already been delivered. She then began creating conspiracy theories and weird scenarios.Like;Maybe the texts were too forward?Did she sound desperate? Was he mugged? He'd probably forgotten his phone.Or he didn't simply fancy her.Or had he been attacked by those wolves and was currently lying dead in some dumpster? The thought of him being beaten to death because of her ma

The moment Emily set her eyes on the female werewolf in question. Her heart jumped. She didn't understand why nobody else seemed uncomfortable with the menace and hate oozing out of her.She could see it in her eyes that her wolf was just stringing them along and intended to cause as much trouble as possible the moment it got a chance. Though feral, the female wolf in the interrogation room was in sync with her wolf. Both wolf and woman were in control of mind and body and promised wrath.Emily glanced around and then locked eyes with the only other wolf in the room."Are you feeling what I'm feeling?" She mouthed. He swallowed and shrugged."I tried warning them, but I'm just an intern." He mouthed.Emily frowned. At once she discarded all the plans she'd carefully crafted. All traces of sympathy was wiped off her face. She sneered instead. "Ugh…" Emily groaned, "Not you interrupting my call again. She said as Jacqueline sashayed into the room where she was held with a stern expression."No calls!" Jacqueline exclaimed, prying the phone out of Emily's hands and folding her arms.Emily sighed, then fell onto the not-so-comfy bed."I know what you're going to say, Jacqueline." She said picking up a fluffy pillow and using it to cover her face."What happened in there? You want to get yourself killed, blah blah blah." Emily said into the pillow, her voice muffled by the pillow.Jacqueline snatched the pillow from her and flung it across the room.Emily moaned, in the past hours she'd received hell from everyone she'd encountered. When she was dragged out of the room, all she could think about was the fact that Terry needed to be moved to a safe location that was protected by a strong sorcerer. Pack members were so afraid by the thought that Andrew wouldn't return that they didn't seem to mind when he did or said something crazy or stupid. Well, she had nothing better to do all day but try to perfect her look. She'd been through different outfits before she'd finally chosen the one she put on. Her hair had been straightened, curled, packed, and repacked a dozen times already. "Let's get into position then." She said, lifting herself up. The pain was too much had she found herself unable to stand. She staggered backward and fell to the bed. "Emily! What's wrong?" "It's like my body is on fire." Emily hissed,Vanessa came to her and inspected her body."It's the mark from hell. He's suffering from the mark from hell. Are you sure you can do this? I can tell Andrew the plan, I'm sure he'd be happy to do it in your place.""No." Emily said forcefully. The truth was that no one could execute the plan effectively apart from her. Even if they collected the totem from Caleb, she was the only one powerful enough to destroy it. Andrew's strength couldn't break it, and neither could her mother's magic. Envy, heavily laced with anger as she'd never felt before, coursed through her body. It felt as if her mother was betraying her. Jacqueline was the first to notice the change in her countenance. She smirked,"Girl, that's what you get for ignoring your man. Now he's in the arms of another woman." Andrew and the Compliant narrowed their eyes at Vanessa."Do you understand it? Can you see how clear the prophecy has become?" Vanessa asked,The Compliant and Andrew glanced at themselves and then back at Vanessa."You," She pointed at Andrew, "became the enemy, you were the destroyer. He used your body to commit all these atrocities. Right now your people do not trust you. You'll need to do a lot to regain their trust. The second prophecy has come to pass. Can't you see it? You aligned with the enemies, you brought harm to your people and if I didn't save you, you would have perished.""Oh." Andrew agreed, nodding. "Now I'm very curious about the 3rd and 4th ones. I wasn't one to believe in those prophecies. My husband did and I often mocked it for it. I didn't think the prophecy concerned us witches and hoped you didn't find the key. The first thing Shirley did when the bodies exchanged was to try to get hold of Caleb before he fell to the ground.Later on, she would regret it deeply and ask herself why she didn't disappear like she normally did. Maybe it had something to do with the mark from hell that she'd seen reappearing on Caleb's body.Shirley's illusion flickered and she could feel her powers waning out as she bent to check on Caleb and wondered why. After confirming that he hadn't been knocked dead, she vented out her frustration on him and tried to wake him up. After trying several spells that didn't work she shook him roughly and punched and kicked him but he remained unresponsive. She'd also said another couple of spells that were supposed to be potent and yet the effect remained the same."Coma!" She yelled, "You're in an induced Coma you son of a bitch! The next morning Vanessa snuck into Brighton and stood amidst the crowd of werewolves standing before the platform in the form of a man. She had to dig up her husband's old spell books and read and practice them throughout the night before she was able to perfect the spell. She stood within wolves knowing that any mistake she made meant death. She trembled, her hands were balmy and her forehead was clouded with sweat. Although she was terrified about being exposed, she was more terrified about failing. It seemed like the fate of the whole world weighed on her shoulders and that was enough to make her shake. Before leaving Andrew, she'd given him a sleeping potion and was glad that it was still in effect when they dragged him out of the dungeon that morning."Who are you and what have you done with Vanessa?" She muttered under her breath. Never in a million years could she imagine that she, Vanessa, would dare to do what she'd been doing in the past few hours. It was very out of char

It was the time of reckoning. Caleb thought, trying as much as he could to keep a grim expression on his face when he was bouncing with excitement inside him. The platform had once again been set and the pack members gathered beneath it chatting away as they awaited the death of Brighton's number one enemy. The gates of the dungeon creaked open, shushing the crowd of onlookers. The advisors and some stakeholders, followed by a barrage of guards and warriors who dragged Caleb's unconscious body processed solemnly to the platform and ascended it. Caleb had never felt so powerful in his entire life and he loved it. Thrills of victory ran down his spine and he clasped his eyes shut and struggled to keep at bay, the smile that had been threatening to break out from his lips. "I still don't understand why we are hurrying his death." Someone murmured dispassionately.Caleb scowled as his head snapped toward the direction of the sound. It had come from one of the stakeholders. He sneered
