Chapter 5 I Love Flirting This Way

At that moment, the morning sun was just rising, and the entire city was not fully awake. Mu Yu rode on her scooter and rushed to the west woods not far from her home. There was a black car parked at the side. She heard the police siren and thought that it belonged to a colleague living nearby that arrived earlier than her. She stopped her scooter at the side and ran into the woods.

The woods were eerily quiet, making people have chills but she wasn’t scared since she knew her colleagues were arriving soon. As she ran, she looked at her surroundings at the same time. When she saw a person lying under the tree not far away, she quickly rushed over.

Unexpectedly, a white shadow appeared from the side. She took a few steps back immediately and looked over vigilantly.

Qin Jinhuan?! Why is he here?

She was very surprised.

“It’s you?” Qin Jinhuan was clearly surprised as well. He continued saying, “Don’t come over!”

“Could it be that you’re…” Mu Yu trembled, and sweats started breaking out as she saw him looking nervous.

Qin Jinhuan took a glance at her, and stepped forward quickly.

Panic consumed her at once. “Don’t mess up with me,” she shouted, before turning around running away.

Just as she turned around, she saw Rong Jian, the chief of the criminal investigation division, running over with a group of people. She ran over as if she found her saviour. Just as she was about to speak, Rong Jian put the toolbox into her hands, and hurried over to Qin Jinhuan asking hurriedly, “What’s the situation?”

Mu Yu froze.

She only knew that she had embarrassed herself when she heard that Qin Jinhuan was the case reporter. Extremely ashamed, she hurriedly looked down, working on the autopsy to disguise her embarrassment.

“She’s a forensic doctor?” Qin Jinhuan stared at Mu Yu with a doubtful sight.

“Ya, the new forensic intern doctor,” Rong Jian nodded.

“Why didn’t you send an experienced forensic doctor for Qing Tian Group’s case?”

“The other forensic doctors have something else to do, not to mention that Dr. Mu lives nearby. Hey, don’t underestimate her. She is the top student of An University’s Forensic Science department.”

Qin Jinhuan’s dismissive tone made Mu Yu very unhappy. Thinking of his flirtation from yesterday, and how he broke his promise twice, anger rose in her at once... Completely forgotten about his identity, she looked at the female corpse before her eyes and rolled her eyes. After some thoughts, she stood up slowly and started introducing the situation to Rong Jian.

“According to the preliminary examination, the death was caused by excessive blood loss from a severe hit on the hindbrain using a blunt device. The time of death was between 21:00 to 23:00 yesterday night, and this is not the first crime scene. The murderer is a tall and strong man.” She purposely glanced at Qin Jinhuan.

Rong Jian understood what she meant and immediately introduced, “This is the CEO of Qin Tian Group, Mr. Qin Jinhuan. The dead worked as a cleaner in his company.”

I already knew that, okay?

Mu Yu didn’t say it out but said with a smile instead, “The dead’s clothes are disheveled, and her corpse was abandoned in such a remote and dirty place. What a rare case it is for the CEO to find out in person so early in the morning!”

“You’re suspecting me?” Qin Jinhuan understood her euphemism.

“The reason he showed up here is…”

“Rong Jian!” Qin Jinhuan, who was deeply frowning, stopped Rong Jian, and looked coldly at Mu Yu. “Where’s the evidence?”

“Mr. Qin, don’t feel offended. I was just speaking based on the case.” Mu Yu shrugged.

“Don’t talk nonsense. Not only is there no evidence, he doesn’t have any motives either,” Rong Jian interrupted.

Mu Yu could tell Rong Jian was defending Qin Jinhuan. She smiled nonchalantly. “Chief Rong, as I just said, I was just speaking based on the case. It wasn’t directed at anyone.”

Just as Rong Jian sighed in relief, she added suddenly, “However, it is common to have sudden sexual intentions and unintentional motives in crime cases.”

“Mu Yu!”

“Rong Jian, it’s fine. Being the case reporter, I’ll have to go to the police department anyways. It’s just a few more sentences.” Qin Jinhuan waved his arms to Rong Jian casually, indicating that he was willing to cooperate with the investigation.

Hearing that, Mu Yu gloated in her heart.

He was spending a romantic time with a woman around ten o’clock yesterday night. Being a public figure in An City, he would be embarrassed to let the people know how messed up his private life was.

Just as she was about to turn around, Qin Jinhuan suddenly spoke louder, “I didn't expect Dr. Mayo to invite me to visit her in the department in such a situation. I should definitely go out of courtesy.”

After flashing an ambiguous smile at her, he walked away elegantly.

All her colleagues who were busy instantly turned around to look at Mu Yu.

Feeling awkward, Mu Yu scolded right away, “Hey! Don’t speak nonsense! Also, my name is Mu Yu, not Mayo!”

Qin Jinhuan turned back and looked at her. “I like how you flirt with me using the name Mayo, since I’d remember you better. Oh ya, don’t be mad about yesterday. I was busy yesterday night so I didn’t call back.”

Feeling her colleagues' unusual gazes on her, Mu Yu felt like digging a hole to bury herself underneath. She glared at Qin Jinhuan with anger from embarrassment but he already walked far away.

After surveying the crime scene, she went back to the department on her scooter, had some food and walked back to the forensic room miserably.

Just then, her phone rang. It was Xin Yihan. The gloom on her face instantly went away as she answered the phone joyfully, “Yihan!”

“Mu Yu, I went to your house to send the invitation card this morning.” His voice was gentle as usual.

Hearing that, Mu Yu’s face instantly turned white.

Although she knew they were getting married sooner or later, her heart couldn’t help but hurt as though knives were slicing through it. After a few perfunctory sentences, she hung up the phone weakly.

Xin Yihan had helped her walk out from her psychological trauma, and counseled her to get admitted into An University. It was also under his influence that she chose to be a forensic doctor. Without him, she wouldn’t be who she was today.

But this guy, whom she had a crush on for five years, never gave her a single chance to confess. Now that he was about to step into the hall of marriage with another woman, all she could do was to give him her blessings secretly. How could she not feel upset? Moreover, today was her first day of work yet she had successfully embarrassed herself. All she wanted right now was to find a place and cry out loud. However, it was at this moment that Rong Jian chose to call her, telling her to go to the office. Recalling the ‘battle’ she had with Rong Jian previously, she regretted making that slip of tongue just now. Since she was a newcomer, she decided to make an apology to Rong Jian.

After preparing her speech, she knocked on the door and went into Rong Jian’s office nervously. He was sitting with his back against the desk. She walked over and whispered, “Chief Rong, I’m sorry. I was wrong.”

“What did you do wrong?” A magnetic voice came from the swivel chair.

Mu Yu was slightly startled. When the swivel chair turned around, what she saw was Qin Jinhuan’s seemingly smiling face.
