Chapter 15 Losing Control From Alcohol

Mu Yu was scared he would make a move on her. She struggled desperately and shouted, “Hey! Let go of me! I’ll bite my tongue off and die if you don’t!”

The next moment, Qin Jinhuan intended to let her go, but taunted her nevertheless. “Do you have anything else to threaten me with other than biting your tongue? Kiss me maybe?”

“Bah! You’re insane! Shameless man!” Mu Yu opened the door angrily.

“Are you planning to walk home?”

“This is none of your business!” Mu Yu wanted to walk out of the door. However, she felt that something was wrong. She quickly turned around and walked back into the room.

Qin Jinhuan was changing his clothes. He didn’t even shy away when he saw her walking back into the room. Instead, he smirked at her and said, “What is it? Miss me already?”

Mu Yu didn’t dare to talk back to him. She took her bag and ran out of the hotel to her scooter. Riding as fast as she could, she managed to reach home within a short time.

It was already nine o’ clock at night, but her parents were already in bed. They had a habit of going to bed early and getting up early. Hungry, Mu Yu went into the kitchen to find something to eat and returned to her room.

She took out her notebook and scolded as she drew five circles on the summon card.

She had seen a lot of shameless people, but this was her first time meeting someone as shameless as that wily old fox!

Her head ached terribly at the thought of the remaining 19 summon cards.

If soul exchange was possible, she was really willing to become Wen and let Wen replace her to deal with that wily old fox who always had something up his sleeves.

Sigh! No way! What if Wen got intimate with that wily old fox using her body?

That’d be disgusting!

Mu Yu thumped her bed angrily, mourning the stolen first kiss.

That was so annoying!

“Yu? Are you back?”

She heard her mother’s voice in the dark. Knowing that she had thumped her bed too loudly, Mu Yu quickly replied, “Yes, I was just about to fall asleep.”

“Oh, sleep early then. Well, don’t go to the wedding tomorrow if you’re too busy with your work.”

Only then did Mu Yu remember that tomorrow was Xin Yihan and Yin Xiaotian’s big day. With a pang in her heart, she said throatily, “I’m not that busy tomorrow. At noon, I will go there straight from work.”

This was something that she has been reluctant to face.

Yet, she didn't want to run away from it. She knew that running from it was no use. She had to face the music.

Sister Xiaotian was beautiful, gentle, and competent. Brother Yihan must be very happy with her. Didn’t she just want to see Brother Yihan happy?

Thinking of this, she felt so much better. Despite that, she couldn’t sleep that whole night as tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably.

The next day at work, Mu Yu couldn’t focus on her work because she kept thinking of the wedding that afternoon. Moreover, all day, she was alone with Feng Rubing in the Forensic Lab. Feng Rubing had always been an introvert that never asked about her private life.

When she finally got off work, she rode her scooter to Xin Yihan and Yin Xiaotian’s wedding, which was held on the second floor of the Grand Hotel.

By the time she arrived, Xin Yihan was in a tuxedo, holding Yin Xiaotian. Yin Xiaotian was in a white wedding dress. They walked together romantically toward the stage. As they turned around, the happy smiles on their faces made her eyes prick. Her heart ached and there was a ringing in her ears. She didn’t pay attention to what the emcee nor Xin Yihan were saying on stage.

From today onward, the man that she loved had become someone else’s husband. She could no longer love him.

The ringtone of her phone interrupted her moment of sadness. She lowered her head and saw that it was Qin Jinhuan calling. She ended the call without another thought. Then, in order to avoid him bothering her, she muted her phone and returned her attention to the couple on stage as she stared absent-mindedly.

“Yu, come and sit with me.”

Her father tugged her away and only then did Mu Yu realize that all the guests were looking at her. She realized that she had lost control of herself. Then, she saw her mother sitting nearby and looking at her sullenly. Astonished, she quickly wiped her tears and went with her father.

She had purposely come to the wedding only after work, because she just didn’t want to see Xin Yihan and Yin Xiaotian lovey-dovey on stage. She didn’t expect to see that happy moment of theirs, and because of this, she couldn’t control her emotions.

Sigh!

“Is this your daughter?” a guest at the table asked her father—Mu Ziyao— with a smile as Mu Yu sat down.

“Yes,” Mu Ziyao replied as he offered his daughter his seat and asked the waiter to add another chair.

“She’s so emotional here at Mr. Xin’s wedding. Was she close to Mr. Xin?” The man purposely emphasized the word ‘emotional’ and the other guests at the table chuckled knowingly.

Knowing that she had embarrassed her parents, Mu Yu kept her head bowed, afraid that her mother would be furious at her.

“Uncle Mu, Aunty Mu, Yu, you’re all here.”

Mu Yu couldn’t help but tremble at the sound of Xin Yihan’s voice. When she raised her head, she saw that Xin Yihan and Yin Xiaotian had their glasses raised and were standing in front of her. Once again, she stared at Xin Yihan—his deep and charming eyes, his talkative lips, the dimples at the corner of his mouth that always had her enticed.

Hu Meiling tugged the corner of her daughter’s clothes and raised her glass. “Let’s toast the newlyweds. May they grow old together and be blessed with children.”

Mu Yu withdrew her gaze from him after her mother’s warning. She didn’t face Xin Yihan. Looking at her mother’s glass that was touching her mother's lips from the corner of her eyes, she hurriedly mimicked her mother and held the glass in front of her, drinking the wine in one gulp.

“Yu!” Only half a glass of wine was left when Mu Ziyao snatched the glass from his daughter.

There was a burning sensation in her stomach. Mu Yu knew something was wrong. Then, she remembered that she was sitting at her father’s table. She had mistaken the glass of liquor to be a glass of water! Once again, everyone stared at her as if they were waiting for her to make a fool out of herself. She wished so hard for a hole to bury herself in it.

She had always had low alcohol tolerance. As she panicked, her stomach churned and her face paled in pain.

“Yu, how are you feeling?” Hu Meiling and Mu Ziyao nervously supported her and asked anxiously from the side. Even Xin Yihan and Yin Xiaotian were looking at her anxiously.

“I’m fine, I…” Mu Yu wanted to put on a brave face, but a wave of nausea hit her before she could finish her sentence. She covered her mouth and ran toward the bathroom. After a few steps, she couldn’t hold it anymore and crouched at a corner to vomit. Her vomit was all liquid. Her stomach was empty but for that half glass of liquor.

“Yu!”

Xin Yihan, Yin Xiaotian, Hu Meiling and Mu Ziyao were all worried and stepped forward.

At this moment, a man grabbed Mu Yu before they could reach her.

“Baby, how are you? Are you okay?” the man embraced her and asked with a concerned voice.

Mu Yu was stunned when she recognized Qin Jinhuan’s voice. She had no intention of knowing why he was here. All she wanted was to avoid getting intimate with this wily old fox, so she instinctively pushed him away.

“Alright, don’t be angry. Am I not here?” Qin Jinhuan held her shoulder tightly with one arm and produced a tissue to wipe the corner of her mouth with the other hand. His voice and actions were extremely gentle.

The emotional scene shocked everyone present. Then, people began to whisper. Most of the guests knew Qin Jinhuan. Despite his fair share of scandals, he had never behaved so gently and kindly to a woman in public before.
