chapter 9 heartache

The day went by faster as expected.

Arianne spent extra 2 hours in the library to do some editing for the upcoming issue of their school's journal. Both Alexis and Kristinn already submitted their article that's why she was left alone. She didn't even notice its already six pm until she checked her phone for any message or call.

She lazily packed her things and headed to her car. Just to be surprised by the scene there.

Kyle, Mason, Kristinn, Alexis, Jace and somebody clinging to him whom she never get the chance to recognize, are all standing outside her car.

And as she walks closer to them, ladies and gentlemen please welcome Amber Prescott! Their school resident slut! Please give her a round of applause! Hahaha! Arianne cant help but to smile at the thought.

"hey guys!" she greeted them as soon as she come nearer pretending not being affected by the scene of Jace and Amber making out in front of almost everyone to see.

"hey Yanna! We've been waiting for you." Kristinn exclaim and giving her a "I can't believe it's happening look".

"didn't I told you I was working in the library?" She replied looking tired.

"yeah yeah like some nerdy stuff Yanna?" Mason said standing closer to Kristinn.

"oh yeah! nerdy thingy it is!" then she plastered her fakest smile.

"ahmm Yanna we're going to Jace place you wanna come with us?" Kyle said directly at her.

"no thanks! I'm not done with my editing yet. I have to finish it so I can show it to the principal first thing tomorrow morning!"

Yeah that's the biggest alibi that she can think of. She just don't want to see Jace and Amber right now.

They already stop sucking each others faces but she can still feel the pain deep inside. Omg what is it? Am I already falling for that jerk? I hope not, finger crossed. Arianne told herself

"Ohh I thought you've met your deadline already?" Alexis ask suddenly.

She gave her a knowing smile that means "just don't".

It's a good thing for the three of them, they have this kind of connection where there are things that they dont have to spell but still can read it. They can totally understand each other well even without saying anything.

"no Lex I still have to do some revision. So see you guys tomorrow then?" She tell it more to her friends.

"hey Yanna what about me?" Jace letting go of Amber strong hold said.

Arianne frowned, confuse of what he just said. Then she remember their conversation about the tutoring thing.

"of course Jace I will still help you with that. Why'd you think I'll back out or something?" without waiting for his reply, she then turn to her friends. "Sorry guys I really have to go now. Bye!"

She went inside her car and drove off refusing to look back because she's afraid if she do her tears will gonna betray her. And that's something she can't afford to risk. How stupid of her to think of liking the "Jace Keller"! He's like "everything"!

Just when she was at the library she tried looking at his i*******m account. And got shock at how much followers he has like millions and mostly are girls. How can she consider herself to attract his attention. She is just a plain and boring nerd. Nothing more.

She drove directly to her house and go straight to her room. Good thing her parents are still not home or else they will see her state and its not a very good thing.

She slammed her body on the bed for awhile then after a few moments she get up and change into a mickey mouse pajama. She wash her face and brush her teeth. She can't think of anything to do. She's done with her homework and also the journal papers were already forwarded to the principal. Maybe she'll just sleep yes maybe by then she will forget about him and the pain he caused her.

Just when she thought that maybe, just maybe, Jace likes her too, just like yesterday when he brought her home after they had dinner in the restaurant and he hold her hand in the car. Well, Arianne thought he might like her but as to what she saw in the parking lot, maybe it didn't mean anything to him.

After awhile of tossing and turning in bed, her phone beeps. She took her phone inside her bag and read the text.

"hey are you at home? You okay?" Kristinn said in text

"nope! I don't know why but I'm feeling sad! Are you still with them?"

"me and Lexi just stay there for half an hour maybe, then we told them that we need to go cause my mom called up and said there's an emergency and I don't want to go home alone cause I'm scared of what's the emergency all about."

"what is your emergency then? Are you okay?"

"cut it out Yanna there's no emergency. I just ask my mom quietly to call me that's it. And the reason why we decided to come is that we want to see what Jace and Amber are up to."

"Omg why did you do that?"

"because we care for you?!!"

"Ohh that's sweeeeet! thanks guys!"

"you know what happen after you go? Jace told Amber to go away hahaha!"

"but why did he do that?"

"to make you jealous? are you now?"

"maybe! I'm not sure. I felt sad when I saw them."

"Ohh Yanna you really like him, don't you?!!!!"

"I don't know K I don't know!"

After exchanging some more text messages for quite awhile they said their goodbyes. Arianne spent few more minutes thinking about Jace real motive before she fell into a deep sleep.
