Hi readers, are you enjoying the story, and what are your thoughts about it?
Annie is desperately trying to remain hidden, while still finding ways to make Mason suffer.
Cheryl seems sweet and gentle, but what if she's faking it.
Do you think all Annie's friends will remain loyal to her? What if some of them decide to turn around and sabotage her. That'd be a nice twist wouldn't it?
Let's keep our fingers crossed as we wait for it to unfold 🤩
I'll be updating as frequently as I can, but will love to hear from you.
Thanks for reading along with me.

Even after visiting the ruins of Mason's edifice, we still came back to the store in record time, because the highways were still almost empty. We were able to start our business for the day at our normal time, 8 a.m.When we returned, all my workers were already in the store. Almost everything had been set in place, except for the vegetables, because I had told them that no one else should tamper with the vegetables. Right now, the only person that helped me with chopping the vegetables was Cheryl, and we had been together since morning. We went to work immediately, chopping the vegetables with speed and dexterity. Something happened though. When we were almost done, Cheryl mistakenly cut herself with the knife she was holding, and blood flowed from the wound. I quickly grabbed her hand, and channeled my air magic into the wound, using it to stitch up the tissues that had been cut, and closing up the skin from the inside. Few seconds later, I was done. Inside the compound, the first thing that captured my attention was a figure huddled up on the ground. My heart skipped some beats because of the amount of blood I saw both on the floor and on the huddled figure's body. It was most definitely a guy, and he was putting on a light-colored dress, therefore it was very easy to detect the blood that all but covered his clothes. My first instinct as I saw Cheryl bent over the figure on the ground, was that part of the blood belonged to her, but on closer watch however as I approached, I found out that Cheryl was okay. From her movements, the blood was definitely from the man lying down on the ground. I increased my steps with hopes of finding a way to resuscitate the victim on the ground. my first thoughts were that Cheryl somehow, had been able to defeat one of the men Mason had sent to kill her because I didn't think there would be any other explanation to what I was seeing here. I walked straight to where she was and tried to pry her awa
I had half of my attention on the road and the other half, on Matt. He had the looks of one in pure anguish, as he looked at the damaged phone in his hand and I somehow felt pity for him. Maybe I had overreacted. I still wasn't cool anyways, with the fact that he had to let Cheryl go inside all by herself. I turned to him, after making sure we were not about to smash into a parked truck anytime soon, and said, "I still don't see the reason why you had to leave Cheryl to go inside there by herself. You of all people should know that we are in difficult times, and the least you could have done was to actually be mindful of the dangers you would encounter in whatever you do and wherever you go. I never expected you to be so careless Matt."I was very sure that at that point, I would have sounded like an angry parent. "I'm sorry", he replied, his voice full of pain, and I knew fully well that he regretted every of his actions but then I needed him to see the extent of damage he had cau
The last time I fought with a real opponent was very long ago, and I flexed my fingers, unable to quell the sudden surge of exciting exhilaration that flowed through my veins, at the singular thought of meeting and fighting once again with someone who was worth the time. It had always been people who were amateurs and unable to hold a decent fight, and every single time, at the end of the day it took me very little time before finishing them off. However, this particular lady standing in front of me right now, didn't look like an amateur at all. If it was anything to go by, the way she sidestepped my deadly attack seconds ago, as though it were child's play, told me all I needed to know and I looked forward to having a spectacular fight with her and of course defeating her as usual. I turned towards Matt again in a silent command, to remind him of my wish for him to stand down. I was very intentional about this particular fight, and I wouldn't like him to interfere. I had plans actua
I was pretty sure of the fact that I didn't sense any other presence here, except of course, for that of the gang members who were mostly dead, and only gave off faint emotions of the evil intents they had, and the shock they felt before they died. It was therefore, very shocking and surprising, that Cheryl had mysteriously disappeared. What had happened to her?Had she been captured, as a bait to lure me?Were there other people I didn't notice? Did she run away? These questions boggled my mind and at that moment I just couldn't concentrate. "Take care of her", I said to Matt, pointing at mystery woman who was still writhing in pains. Her broken hands definitely did enough damage to her, than I was able to, throughout the duration of our fight, damages that made her forget about mirroring my moves for the time being. "Do you understand?", I asked Matt, my jaws set in a thin line, silently conveying to him, the fact that I wanted nothing, absolutely nothing, to go wrong this t
What I was expecting was some sort of defiance. I half expected her to try to struggle when I lifted up her head to look at me, but then, instead of the fire that was burning just few moments ago in her eyes, what I saw this time around took me entirely by surprise. She wasn't looking like someone who was ready to fight. In fact, all the fight had totally drained from her and her shoulders drooped as that of someone who had already accepted defeat. The most shocking part was that she looked at me with tears in her eyes, a pleading note in her gaze. I was taken aback for some time and I reflexively took few steps back, while trying to understand exactly was playing out. Was it one of her to tricks? Act beaten to get me to sympathize with her so that she could finally finish what she had started before now. I wasn't trusting her in any way because she had already shown to be more dangerous than she looked, and I wasn't ready to take any chances. The most important thing on my mind righ
I had not even thought to collect and go through her phone, even though that was always the first thing I did whenever I caught any person trying to kill me. I had made it a point of duty to always check their phones, to see if I could find valuable information about the person who might sent him or her, and perhaps, get hold anything about them that I could use to track them down. I watched carefully as she brought out the phone, and saw her expression shift almost simultaneously into that of absolute shock when she looked at her phone's screen. She literally froze in terror, and at that point I didn't need any more clues to make me know exactly who was at the other end of the call, Mason fucking Smith. She wasn't lying after all. “Answer the call!” I commanded her, and as a quick afterthought, added, "and act like you have already captured me!" Immediately she heard that, she looked at me fearfully and began shaking all over. When she saw that I was serious, she made to hit the a
I wiped my blood stained knife on the grass and tucked it back into my boots where it belonged. Save for few droplets of blood on my hands, which definitely weren't mine anyways, I looked perfectly fine. I still had my hair in place and my cloth still looked straight. No one would be able to as much as guess that I'd just been able to kill five fully grown men this early morning. Well, I wouldn't take the total blame, as they attacked me first, and as I would always do, I simply fought back in self defense.About the bodies, I had already contacted Roselyn to take care of them. Roselyn was a dwarf, and that would totally explain why she would be able to single handedly take care of the five dead bodies. Dwarves had supernatural strength. It was more like their lack of height doubled for an advantage in their strength and body build. Also, they had very thick skins and very strong muscles. They could lift loads that would be difficult for up to five average normal human beings t

Locating this particular building wasn't quite difficult, since it was located just very close to the Highway. However, we had to park our vehicle few metres away from the actual site. We knew that people might be around and didn't want to risk getting recognized. I wanted to carry out my plans with as much secrecy as possible, and I wanted by all means to hold on to my element of surprise, because that was the only thing that would keep me safe for as long as I wanted his game to last, because once Mason had a very strong evidence that it was me, he would release everything he had to get me down once and for all, and I may not be able to stand it. We parked a few metres away, and trekked to the exact location. There, standing in magnificence and full glory, was one of Mason's largest business structures. It stood there, innocently looking at us as though it knew the fate that was coming it's way. I went around it, scanning for people around, but luckily, we had chosen the per
