Anger washed over Jordan's face as he snapped to attention. Skylar's screams spurred him to act, but Liam's steely stare and the unnerving presence he exuded stopped Jordan abruptly. His body shook, his legs turned to jelly, and he stumbled back to Skylar's side, pointing at Liam with a shaky finger. "Liam! Don't get ahead of yourself! Do you realize who my wife is? Skylar's heart sank at Jordan's cowardice. He could not even defend her honor. Her anger surged anew as she glared at him, then turned her wrath back on Liam, spitting venom with every word.
