Chapter 39 Li Mu Was Trapped in a Dilemma

When Lin Wan met He Xiaoyu, Lin Wan behaved well as usual. In the face of He Xiaoyu’s question, Lin Wan answered, “You have a problem with me?”

He Xiaoyu looked unhappy and answered unhurriedly, “I think you got the wrong idea. I don’t have a problem with you, but I think you might cause trouble for Li Mu if you did this. If the company finds out about this, Li Mu will be punished.”

“That’s weird. The only person who knows about this is you. Unless you snitch on Li Mu, the company won’t know!”

“Come on, I couldn’t care less. But listen carefully. Although I won’t snitch on Li Mu, the company will still find out.”

Why would the company know? He Xiaoyu thought it was such a lame question. Because her family owned the company and she could be a representative of the company to some extent.

However, she had to hold her tongue.

Disdainfully, Lin Wan glared at her and said provokingly, “Do you even think you’re making sense now? Stop finding excuses for yourself. Go ahead and snitch on him. I’m not afraid of you!”

He Xiaoyu was so mad at it but she did not know how to respond.

Lin Wan kept egging her on, “What’s wrong? Are you scared? Go ahead and snitch on him. Just call the company. Why are you chickening out?”

Hurriedly, Li Mu tried to step in, “Come on, both of you ease out a bit. Honey, don’t be angry. We’re supposed to have fun on this trip. Don’t spoil the mood.”

Then, he said to He Xiaoyu, “Don’t be mad. I know I’m at fault for this, but don’t worry, I won’t let anything affect our work. But if you don’t feel comfortable about this, do as you please.”

Instantly, He Xiaoyu said, “No, no. Don’t worry. I won’t snitch on you. Just let her be. I have no objections.”

Hearing that, Lin Wan sighed. Her plan failed. He Xiaoyu actually agreed to keep quiet about it.

In fact, she wanted He Xiaoyu to report it to the company so that Xiaoyu would no longer get in her and Li Mu’s way.

If Xiaoyu chose to snitch on Li Mu, Li Mu would admit to his mistakes and stay away from Xiaoyu in the future even if He Xiaoyu seemed to be right.

By then, He Xioayu would feel ashamed to stick by Li Mu as well.

It was too bad that He Xioayu was too smart for that.

He Xiaoyu was fine with getting jealous or angry, but she would never let Li Mu get into trouble.

Hence, she decided to provoke Lin Wan by using another method. Cutely, she uttered to Li Mu, “Li Mu, I’m thirsty. Can you buy me a bottle of water?”

Without hesitation, Li Mu stood up and was about to walk away. Right away, Lin Wan grabbed him and asked discontentedly, “Where are you going?”

“To buy water!”

“For who?”

“Both of you. I’m a man. I’ll run the errands!”

“Alright then. Anyway, I do feel a little thirsty. Go get me a bottle of water. But you can only buy a bottle of water. Not more than that, got it?”

Breaking out into a cold sweat, Li Mu was put in a difficult position. Why would Lin Wan make a fuss out of a small matter? He was just trying to give his colleague a helping hand. Did she have to over-react like that?

“Honey, He Xiaoyu is thirsty as well. Since I’m going to get you some water, I’ll get one for her as well. Don’t be like this, okay?”

“She’s not a cripple. She can buy her own water. Why does she need someone else’s husband to buy her water?” Lin Wan uttered with disapproval.

Standing up, He Xiaoyu said casually, “You’re right. I’ll buy my own water. Let’s go, Li Mu. We’ll go buy the water together!”

But Li Mu did not dare to move an inch. Sitting down next to Lin Wan, he waved his hand at He Xiaoyu, gesturing to her not to make things worse.

Lin Wan was satisfied with Li Mu’s response. He even remembered to save her some face. Thinking of that, Lin Wan felt somewhat proud.

He Xiaoyu was so angry and she walked away without looking back.

After He Xiaoyu left, Li Mu said to Lin Wan carefully, “Honey, give her a break, alright?”

“No way. It’s her fault for getting on my nerves. I’m going to chase her away.”

“What are you talking about? She’s here for work. If you chase her away, I’m going to have to deal with all the work alone. Don’t be ridiculous and embarrass ourselves, alright?”

Keeping silent, Lin Wan pinched Li Mu, which was obviously discontented with what her husband just said.

Soon after, He Xiaoyu came back with two bottles of water.

Seeing He Xiaoyu walking up to them from far away, he started grumbling secretly. He knew that He Xiaoyu was about to start a war again.

Indeed, He Xiaoyu handed him a bottle of water, “Li Mu, I bought this for you.”

Of course, he did not have the guts to take the water. He was quietly swearing at He Xiaoyu for creating more problems for him.

Seeing Li Mu not accepting the water, He Xiaoyu shoved the bottle into his hands.

Instantly, Lin Wan raged. He Xiaoyu was literally declaring war with her. After all, Li Mu was her husband. He Xiaoyu was outright challenging her.

Without hesitating, Lin Wan grabbed the drink, turned around, and was about to throw the drink into the rubbish bin.

Hurriedly, Li Mu stopped her. If Lin Wan actually did that, the two women would really start a fight, and they would end up in the police station.

Unscrewing the bottle, he gulped down all the water in one go. Then, he took He Xiaoyu’s water and drank everything as well.

Breathless, he said to them, “I’m thirsty, so I drank everything. None of you will get anything!”

The bystanders started laughing at them. Feeling slightly embarrassed, Lin Wan and He Xiaoyu sat down and did not say anything.

Soon after, the boarding call rang out, Li Mu heaved a sigh of relief.

Finally, they made it to the plane! He made up his mind to not let them get together after they got off the plane. Otherwise, he might get himself into unnecessary trouble.

Lin Wan and Li Mu checked in online, so their seats were located next to each other. In order to let Lin Wan rest better, Li Mu even chose a seat next to a window.

On the other hand, He Xiaoyu was not that lucky. She wanted to sit with Li Mu, but after seeing Lin Wan, she got so angry that she lost all her senses. Her seat was a few rows away from Li Mu and Lin Wan.

After everybody boarded the plane, He Xiaoyu approached the man sitting next to Li Mu, “Sir, can I switch seats with you?”

Seeing a girl asking him a favor, the man nodded his head without hesitation.

Li Mu was shocked. How could he survive sitting between his wife and his junior?

“No!” Li Mu shouted, “You’re not allowed to simply switch seats!”

Hearing that, the passengers burst into laughter. Some of them had already seen them fighting in the airport, so they kept on watching the fun. Some of them even started heckling.

The man was so confused and he thought that the people were laughing at him. Hurriedly, he stood up and dashed to the seat behind.

He Xiaoyu sat down and looked at Lin Wan complacently.

Lin Wan’s blood was boiling. How dared He Xiaoyu to provoke her openly? She would never let her off so easily.

However, before she could lose her temper, Li Mu collapsed into her embrace, “Honey, I feel dizzy. Hug me.”

Instantly, her anger dissipated. So what if He Xiaoyu kept provoking her? Li Mu was her husband. Even if she was sitting next to him, he would just ignore her.

He Xioayu could not do anything now. She couldn’t just pull Li Mu away from Lin Wan as she would appear too rude then.

After a while, the cabin crew started to check on the passengers as they prepared for takeoff. An air steward approached them and said to Li Mu politely, “Sir, please fasten your seatbelt. We are about to take off soon.”

“I’m done fastening my seatbelt!” Li Mu patted the seatbelt on his waist.

“Sir, can you please sit up straight?”

“I can’t. I’ll die if I sit up straight. I’m fine. You go ahead.”

“Sir, it’s the rule. If you felt unwell, you might have to disembark the plane to get treatment. Please cooperate with us.”

Well, Li Mu could only sit up straight. Then, he begged Lin Wan, “Honey, I’ll sit up straight for now. I’ll lie down after the plane takes off.”

Lin Wan knew that it was not the right time to make a scene. They might get kicked out of the plane if they did not listen to the air steward. Hence, she nodded her head gently and held Li Mu’s arm tightly.

He Xiaoyu did not show any reaction. On the contrary, she closed her eyes.

After the plane took off, Lin Wan tugged on Li Mu’s arm, and they cuddled with each other again.

Surprisingly, He Xiaoyu kept quiet the whole time as though she did not know them. However, she was secretly pinching Li Mu.

Finally, they arrived at their destination. After disembarking the plane and collecting their luggage, Lin Wan hugged Li Mu’s arm and they walked in front of He Xiaoyu. He Xiaoyu simply kept silent.

Suddenly, Lin Wan halted in her steps and asked, “Why are you following us? Are you staying with us?”

“Mrs. Lin, do you think you’re on a honeymoon. Li Mu and I are here to work. Of course, we will stay together.”

Lin Wan could not refute He Xiaoyu’s sarcastic statement. He Xiaoyu was right. They were here to work. In fact, she was the one interrupting them.

However, she really wanted to spend time alone with Li Mu. She did not want others to interrupt them. Not to mention it was someone she hated.

As she was still pondering on how to get rid of He Xiaoyu, Li Mu spoke, “Honey, I am here to bid for something, so I have many things to discuss with He Xiaoyu. It’s more convenient for us to stay together.”

Seeing Lin Wan’s unhappy face, Li Mu quickly explained, “Of course, we only stay at the same hotel, not in the same room. Don’t get the wrong idea.”

Lin Wan snorted. Obviously, she knew they were not going to stay in the same room. But she was still annoyed.

Even so, she knew that she needed to prioritize Li Mu’s work. It was her first time to accompany Li Mu on a business trip, so she did not want to affect his work. Otherwise, she might not get the chance to go on a business trip with him again.

Thinking of that, she nodded her head reluctantly.
