Aurelia frowned; she glanced at the waiters gossiping in the corner, then signaled her assistant. The assistant immediately gestured for them to stop chattering with a stern expression.

I was still Aurelia's granddaughter-in-law, after all. Being mocked by outsiders was a direct blow to her dignity.

Her gaze swept over Bryce and me, as if she had unraveled the unspoken tension between us. I met her eyes, and calmly took the small jewelry box.

"How did you know I've been into gold lately? I knew something was up when I saw you mysteriously instructing your secretary to buy 10 pounds of gold the other day. So it was all for me!"

Bryce caught on, and quickly added, "Exactly! I was worried you'd think it was too heavy, so I just brought the jewelry box instead."

"Who would complain about gold being heavy? Mrs. Harrison is so lucky!" the same waiter from earlier chimed in as well.

This time, Aurelia smiled in satisfaction. She turned to Claudia and squinted at the deliberatel

Aurelia stepped forward with her cane and struck Bryce hard across the face. "Your grandfather and father were known for their loyalty to their wives! Why didn't you follow their footsteps?" Bryce was so shocked that he didn't even have time to cover his face."Grandma, how did you know Claudia is pregnant with my child?" He turned to me, panic written all over his face. "Jasmine, let me explain—" "You must have been starving to stoop to someone like Claudia! Thank goodness Jasmine is a forgiving woman. Otherwise, you would've utterly humiliated your grandfather and father!" Aurelia looked at me, tears in her eyes."Don't worry, Jasmine. I'll always step up for you. I know you've been wronged lately, but I'm getting old. Bryce's father passed away young, and my only remaining wish in this world is to see the Harrisons with an heir. You're the only granddaughter-in-law I ever approved of, Jasmine. I know the car accident left you with lasting injuries. Even if Bryce

A month later, Bryce and I officially finalized our divorce. Bryce transferred all his personal assets to me. When I suggested splitting them equally, he shook his head tearfully. "I've always thought I was the one protecting you, but in reality, you were the one carrying all the burden. This is what you deserve. You're free now." Just then, a voice called for me."Jasmine!" Leon showed up again, this time in a Ferrari. He was here to pick me up for an International Dance Competition abroad, where I had been invited to serve as a judge. Bryce looked like he was attending a funeral. "Why does he always appear when I'm at my lowest?" "Maybe it's destiny," I said, arching a brow with a mocking smile. "After all, you three are basically a family now. Congratulations, you just gained a twenty-year-old stepson." When I went to thank Bryce, Aurelia was sobbing quietly by his bed.Bryce remained silent as he struggled to come to terms with the emptiness where his legs used to be. I could see the regret in his eyes when they met mine. "Jasmine," he pleaded, "could you stay a little longer with me?" He glanced at his empty pant legs on the bed."I know I'm in no position to ask you to stay by my side anymore, but…for the sake of the child we never got to meet—" A wave of nausea rose in me, and I snapped, "How dare you mention the child?"Bryce didn't expect me to lash out. "The baby could have lived, but you let her feel your hostility toward women. What do you think Claudia and I were? Are we just tools to provide you emotional comfort or children?!" I roared.Bryce lowered his head in silence."Jasmine, I heard everything. It's all my fault. You've suffered so much all these years because of us. Please, Jasmine, don't leave Bryce. "Jasmine! Get out here! I got the hotel booking confirmation for you and your college toy boy on my phone!"Bryce Harrison's enraged yells rang from the outside as he pounded violently on the hotel door. Though still weakened from my recent miscarriage hours ago, I slowly got up to open the door. Bryce, my soon-to-be ex-husband, stood before me with a deep scowl. The janitor behind him perked up her ears to catch each word while pretending to sweep the floor. Bryce's gaze lingered on my face for a second before turning to the room. Just as he was about to barge in, I blocked his path. "You've booked hotel rooms with Claudia over a hundred times," I retorted, "but I've never once shown up to cause a scene. Why are you so petty right now?"Claudia was significantly older than Bryce, with more than a decade between them. At first, I paid no attention to a divorced woman who had been single for nearly twenty years with a son in college. At twenty-three, Bryce graduated from

Bryce strolled into the house, humming a little tune. He wore sweatpants and a Dior shirt—the shirt had a lipstick stain near the collar. He glanced toward the kitchen. Before I could say a word, he said loudly, "I'm staying home tonight! A colleague made extra soup, so I brought some home to share with you." Marching into the kitchen, he grabbed a bowl and ladled out some chicken soup. He snapped a photo of it with his phone, grinning broadly, then began typing on the screen. A sudden thought crossed his mind, and he added, "Oh yeah, you have a competition coming up. This soup's way too greasy for you, so I'll drink it for you instead." Bryce had always paid special attention to maintaining his figure. He used to say, "My wife is a national treasure-level ballroom dance coach. Her husband's image has to be top tier too!" Because of this, there wasn't a flame in our kitchen for years. However, his eating habits changed after his company hired an older woman. He stopped e

When Bryce saw my car in the company parking lot, he was taken aback. He probably hadn't expected me to take his offhand comment seriously and follow him to his office. However, years of experience as a CEO sharpened his wits. He quickly regained his composure, adjusted his expression, and approached me. "If Claudia's payroll proves I wasn't lying, promise me you won't make a fuss about anything I do in the future," he said.Entering the elevator, he pressed the button for the seventh floor which led to the HR department."Mrs. Harrison, here's Ms. Claudia Quintana's payroll record for the past six months," the HR manager said politely. On closer inspection, her eyes were brimming with curiosity. Claudia's salary had been halved starting last month, just as Bryce had claimed so confidently. He loosened his tie triumphantly and gave the HR manager a knowing look, prompting her to discreetly leave the room. "See? I wasn't lying. You've embarrassed me enough today. This

Claudia shyly entered Bryce's office. When I pushed the door open, I found her crouching down and unbuckling his belt. Her face was so close, her nose was practically brushing against his crotch.Such an interesting scene… Of course, I had to take out my phone to record it.Bryce was startled when he noticed me standing there with a phone in hand. Instead of reacting defensively, however, he leaned back in pleasure as if he were enjoying the moment. Claudia, meanwhile, remained unbothered as she calmly fiddled with his belt. She turned her head slowly toward me, shooting me a grin dripping with slight hostility. "Bryce left his pants at my place last night. I washed them and brought them here. You know what? A man's clothes should be washed by his wife. Meals, too, should be made by his wife," she taunted. Bryce caught her sarcastic implication, but didn't stop her. He looked at me with amusement, as though he were trying to retaliate against me for my earlier rejection.

"Bryce, I missed you so much!" Aurelia hugged Bryce's head tightly and planted several kisses on him. Bryce spent a long time greeting family and friends before finally turning his attention to me. "I forgot to tell you that I was up all night playing poker with Mr. Wayne," he said.Sometimes, I couldn't help but admire his creativity. He always managed to come up with an endless variety of excuses for his intimate moments with Claudia. "It's Grandma's birthday today. Let's not make a scene. I even brought you a gift," Bryce added, perhaps out of guilt. He quickly pulled a small jewelry box out of his pocket. Before he could open it, his eight-year-old cousin Mandy snatched it away. "Bryce, is this your wedding anniversary gift for Jasmine?" "Our wedding anniversary? Oh, right! Yesterday was our fifth anniversary," he quickly said. It was obvious he had just remembered it. I wasn't bothered by it as I had forgotten about it too. Bryce glanced at me awkwardly b

"The traffic laws clearly state that driving in heels over an inch is a hazard to public safety. Is there a problem with me switching to sneakers?" I said, glaring disdainfully at Bryce's hand. He seemed to let out a small sigh of relief when he heard that. "If I ever find out that something is going on with you and that guy, I swear I'll kill him. Be glad nothing happened this time." A dirty mind sees dirt everywhere. That evening, Bryce unexpectedly stayed home and drank. Intoxicated, he stumbled into my room and slurred, "Jasmine, I know you're using Claudia's son to get back at me. Lucky for me, I've seen his photo. You have no idea how much it hurts to see you get in another man's car after mentioning divorce. For a moment there, I thought I was about to lose you forever." Under the influence of alcohol, Bryce's usual arrogance crumbled and he fell to his knees."Grandma's birthday is tomorrow. She's the only family I have left in this world. Let's stop fighting

At that moment, I used Bryce's exact words against him.His grip on my wrist tightened almost immediately, eliciting a grunt of pain from me.Seeing this, a displeased Leon jumped out of the car and yanked Bryce's arm away. "Let go of Jasmine!" he growled, exerting strength in his grip. "If you take your anger out on a woman, you're not a man!" Leon pointed an accusatory finger at Bryce, then raised his fist and threw a swift punch to Bryce's face. Bryce recoiled, groaning sharply from the pain. When he recovered, his eyes were bloodshot. Furious, he grabbed Leon by the collar to retaliate. Leon didn't back down. He shoved his glasses into his pocket and rolled up his sleeves, prepared to fight Bryce till the end. Suddenly, Bryce let go. "What? Scared now?" Leon taunted. Bryce looked at me in disbelief, lips trembling. "You two… Jas…" He was at a loss for words. After a moment, he finally blurted, "You're Claudia's son!" …"Why do you look so calm?" Leon as

The "Mom" he was referring to was the woman who used to visit the orphanage where I grew up. She was also my sponsor. Initially, I had been adopted by a wealthy, childless couple. Soon after they adopted me, they had two children of their own, leaving me as the unwanted extra. I ended up scavenging for food from garbage bins. Fiona had been the one who pulled me out of that hell. She sent me to learn ballroom dancing with Bryce. Together, we won many competitions domestically and internationally. Whenever we returned victorious, Fiona would personally cook my favorite meals and watch me eat with joy. She was my angel—but angels don't stay long in this world. A car accident sent all three of us to the brink of death. Fiona sustained the worst injuries while protecting Bryce. When we shared a room in the hospital, she cried and begged me not to let Bryce carry the guilt of her injuries. And so, I gave her my word. I conspired with the doctors to tell Bryce that Fiona'
