Chapter 7

A group of thugs stood at my door, looking like they were ready to beat me up if I didn't repay Dylan's debt.

Moments ago, they had been pounding on the door so hard that it had woken up the entire neighborhood. I wasn't too worried since I wasn't alone.

I took a deep breath and calmly asked them what made Dylan eligible to take out such a huge loan.

One of them peeked into my house and explained that it was this property that Dylan had used as collateral.

That made me even calmer.

"If you think I'm responsible for paying back the debt, go ahead and sue me," I said. "But let me make one thing clear—if anything happens to me, you'll be the prime suspect."

I wasn't afraid of them coming at me openly. I was only afraid if they played dirty.

The house was solely in my name, not Dylan's, while the loan was under his name. It had nothing to do with me.

Then, I threatened to call the police, which finally scared them off.

Everything was clear now.
