Chapter 5 Phone Calls from the Police

My body was found. Interestingly, the people who discovered my body turned out to be the same group of gangsters who had harassed Natalie.

This group of gangsters went around looking for excitement every day. Back then, they didn't have the nerve to do anything to Natalie before the police showed up.

They were afraid of getting arrested. So, they could only flee to an abandoned steel factory, only to accidentally discover my body. They were so frightened that their souls instantly left their bodies when they caught sight of me.

Since it rained heavily for three consecutive days, the traces of the murderer were no longer identifiable.

The police officers who used to work with my father recognized me.

"Isn't she Captain Reed's daughter?"

"How can this be?"

When they were about to contact Harvey, they failed to reach him.

He was celebrating Natalie's birthday at the time. He didn't want to miss any important moments in Natalie's life, even if we failed to get a divorce.

The atmosphere in the private dining room was boisterous. Those who had come to celebrate Natalie's birthday were all Harvey's friends.

Harvey would never take me to meet them nor acknowledge me as Mrs. Ferguson in his circle of friends.

Once again, the police called. The annoyed Harvey swiped the screen to answer, "Who is it?"

"Mr. Ferguson, are you a family member of the deceased Danica Reed?"

Perhaps because he was a little tipsy, Harvey assumed it was a prank on him. "Who died?" Suddenly, he burst into laughter. "Oh, you mean Danica? Well, she has been acting like a drama queen lately. So what? She died just because I wanted to divorce her?"

Just then, his friends also started laughing.

The police officer on the other end of the phone didn't know how to answer after hearing his utterly blase answer.

Meanwhile, Harvey hung up the phone before he could continue speaking.

He thought it was all my well-designed scheme. Therefore, he didn't want something like this to interrupt their party.

He didn't care if I died. What mattered to him was whether I divorced him or not.

Natalie was blushing as she leaned into his arms and called out to him affectionately, "Harvey."

Just as they were about to kiss, Natalie's phone rang. "Miss Lawson, the gangsters who kidnapped you last time have been caught. Please come over to the police station and confirm their identities."

"Don't worry, Nat. I will make those who harass you get punished by law." Since Harvey had always been concerned about Natalie's affairs, he hadn't given up looking for this group of gangsters during this period.

He instantly sobered up the second he heard that the police had arrested those gangsters.

Soon, he arrived at the police station.

Harvey's face instantly darkened after Natalie successfully identified those men.

Then, he punched each of them in the face as soon as he laid sight on those slovenly men.

The police officer hurriedly pulled him away. "Mr. Ferguson, please calm down. Fortunately, someone promptly called the police in the first place, and Miss Lawson didn't suffer any substantial harm."

Harvey was puzzled. So, he asked, "What do you mean someone promptly called the police?"

The police officer explained calmly, "After Miss Lawson was kidnapped, someone immediately called the police. We wouldn't have been able to find her so quickly if the phone call hadn't been made in time. If you want to thank someone, thank the person who called the police."

Harvey was momentarily caught off guard. His eyes flickered slightly, appearing as if he was recalling something.
