After coming out of the hospital, Daniel Brooke got into the car and took his phone out of his pocket. He phoned Derek.
"I want the call details of Alex D'Costa as soon as possible, and also keep eyes on him. I want every single detail of his movement."
He said those words the moment the call connected and hung up the call immediately after finishing giving the order. Then he directly drove to his office.
At the end of the day, Daniel Brooke received an email from Derek about the call details for Alex, but he didn't find anything suspicious. Feeling irritated, he slammed his fist on the table and looked coldly at the laptop screen.
Grinding his teeth, he murmured, "You have played very smartly, Alex, but not smarter than me."
That day almost at midnight, Alex received a call from an unknown number when he was about to sleep. He frowned and stared at the number, wondering who the person was calling him at that hour. He didn't pick up, thinking that it might be just a random call, and went to sleep. But his phone again rang, and the call was from the same number. This time he didn't ignore it and answered, "Hello." An unusually stuffy male voice came out from the other end of the phone, "Mr. Mayor's daughter's life is in danger. Save her." Startled, Alex jumped out of the bed frantically and asked in a frenzy, "Who are you?" "I am a well-wisher of her. Don't leave her alone if you want to save her." Alex’s eyebrows knitted even tighter an
Jasmine Brown was infuriated. She brushed his hands off and rebuked savagely, "How dare to say this to me? You always knew how much I love Daniel but still, you dare to express your feelings to me. How could you?” Irritated, Alex retaliated, "He never loved you and always used you as a ladder to get success. But you... Despite knowing all these, you kept running after him." He leveled the glare at her. Unhappiness crept into his mind. She always expected love from a person who never valued her, and this was the root cause of his grievance. He was trying to show the true face of Daniel Brooke, but she was not ready to listen to him. He tried to persuade her, "Open your eyes and try to see it clearly. He broke up with you, and now suddenly comes back to you, saying that he wants to be by your side. Don't you
The next day Daniel Brooke took Jasmine Brown to a resort, far away from 'X' city. The resort was located on the top of a hill. Jasmin was enjoying the view standing on the porch attached to the cottage. All the sides of the resort were covered with a large number of trees and plants. Some plants bore flowers of different colors which were quite different from those found in plain lands. Jasmine had no idea what were the names of those flowering plants, but she was enjoying the beauty of the scenery. A rapidly flowing stream could be seen from where she was standing. Birds with beautiful feathers were flying and singing merrily. She felt relaxed instantly and inhaled deeply the fresh air, closing her eyes and stretching her arms on either side. There was a faint smell of wildflowers in the air. A wide
Alex was stunned to hear it. He did all this only for her, and now she just asked him to leave. For a few seconds, he didn't react at all, other than leveling a glare at her. "All these days I protected you, stayed by your side, and did everything you asked me to do without a second thought, just to make you happy. Humph…” He snorted and added, “Now, you say that you don't need me. It hurts, Jasmine. I always cared for you, but you... now I know you never cared for me." Alex was heartbroken. The pain was clearly visible from his expression. He sniffed and continued, "If you ever think that I am your true friend, and I am here to protect you, call me. I will come to you immediately." He turned and left as soon as he finished speaking. A drop of tear
One year later... A tall, enticingly good-looking man was coming out of the airport in the capital city. He was pushing a wheelchair, on which a frail woman was sitting, hanging her head down on one side. There was no movement in her body, and only her eyes blinked once after a long time. She looked like a lifeless ragdoll. Half an hour later, they reached LifeLine hospital, and the woman was pushed into an executive ward. With the help of a young nurse in her early twenties, the man laid her down on the sickbed. She was motionless. Her pupils were fixed at a certain point on the white ceiling. He sighed and looked at the nurse, who was injecting the medicine in the IV saline. "Call Dr. Quinn." The nurse nodded and went out of the ward.
Carl Black had recovered much but not fully. He needed to stay a few more days in the hospital. However, he was feeling bored, staying inside the four white walls all day. He asked the doctor if he could go out for a while. The doctor allowed him to walk for some time in the garden of the hospital. He was happy and went out of the ward. The mild breeze hit on his face the moment he came out to the garden. He inhaled deeply and could smell the faint fragrance of different flowers. The garden was huge with many flowering plants and trees. There were cemented benches on the sides. Many patients in their blue hospital gowns were present there. Some of them were chatting with family members sitting on the benches, some were walking slowly with the help of a nurse, and some were in a wheelchair. He looked around and saw a huge cherry blossom tree in one corner of t
The doctor took his phone out of his pocket and started recording while talking nonstop. Lily was also talking and giggling. But for Lisa, they were mute. She could only hear the familiar voice of Carl Black, who was chatting just behind her. A wave of current passed through her brain, activating her nerve endings. Her head shook a few times, and her hands trembled. She tried to lift her leg which caused her left foot to slide down from the footrest. The doctor stopped talking and laughing instantly. He observed Lisa’s movement attentively. She tried hard to raise her legs. Her hands, on the lap, were shaking continuously as she attempted to lift them. The doctor said excitedly, “Hey, she is trying to move.” He didn’t stop his recording and centered his g
“What?” Dr. Quinn’s eyebrows creased deeply. It was nearly two months since Lisa woke up from the coma but during this time span, she never passed out. Then why did she fainted all of a sudden? Without a word, he headed to the ward in haste. Once he came to the ward he asked Lily to put on the EEG and attached the electrodes on Lisa’s head. Lily quickly followed the instruction and Dr. Quinn started observing her brain activity. Her neurons were constantly firing. There was a half-smile on Dr. Quinn’s face but slowly it was replaced by a scowl. He asked sternly, “What happened before she passed out?” His tone was harsh and commanding. Lily knew this time she shouldn’t hide anything, so she explained everythin
“Why are you here?” Instead of answering him, Daniel asked back a question.“You are my son, and it is my right to come and check you.” Thomas Brooke raised his voice slightly, feeling annoyed.“But I don’t want to see your face.” Daniel Brooke turned his head to the other side.“Daniel, I have done all this for the safety of you and the family. Don’t forget that you are engaged with Mr. Mayor’s daughter, and you know well that how rich and powerful he is. It will not take an hour for him to take down our family. Bang… Bang… Another two more gunshots sounded loud back to back. Lisa shirked, closing her eyes. Silence swept in the room after that. She could only hear her rapidly beating heartbeat. Slowly she opened her eyes and looked up at Carl Black who was shielding her with his body. She asked in a shaky voice, “Are you alright?” He answered, “Yes, my love.” Thump... Meanwhile, they heard the dull sound of something falling on the floor. They turned to look, only to see Daniel Brooke lying on the floor. Blood was dripping down from his belly. He took the bullet for her. Albert was lying behind him, dead. Derek shot two bullets directly on his head. “Daniel…” Lisa shouted and rushed
On the other end, Daniel Brooke reached the location with Derek before the cops could reach them. Derek’s men spread everywhere in the area. There were many incomplete buildings. They have no idea in which building Albert was hiding. Suddenly a voice came out from Derek’s walkie-talkie, “Two men were seen on the rooftop of the last building to the right side.” “Got it,” Derek answered. They looked up at the last building and saw two men roaming around on the rooftop, inspecting the surroundings. They had guns in their hands. Derek looked at Daniel Brooke, “Now we should go ahead, avoiding their eyes.” Nodding, they approached carefully, hiding behind the stacks of bricks. They saw dozens of men guarding the building when they came
Albert laughed loudly again, “You are smart, Daniel. Did you know why I called you?” He waited for a while but when he didn’t get any answer from Daniel Brooke, he began to say, “Because my men have abducted your beloved woman. And her husband also came following her. Now he is fighting with my man.” He laughed again loudly. Soon his expression changed into a monstrous look, “If you want her alive, come to the abandoned construction site of JK builders alone within an hour. If you delay or you try to trick me, you will lose her forever.” “Don’t touch her.” Daniel Brooke shouted impulsively. “Your problem is with me. She is innocent. Don’t do anything to her. I will come wherever you want.” “See you soon.” The call ended immed
Carl Black chuckled and looked at his mother, “Mom…” Holding her hand, he went to her room. On the other end, after showing all the rooms of the Black villa, Mack Black finally took Lisa to her bedroom, “And this is your bedroom. Go and rest. I hope bro will come in any minute.” Smiling, he waved at her and ushered her inside the room. When Lisa came in, various scenes started playing like a recording in her mind. All the scenes were entangled with each other, and she couldn’t make heads or tails of those. She walked towards the bed in reverie and saw her cry miserably. She felt a sharp pain in her heart, and her breathing quickened. Blinking continuously, she tried to remember what happened in the past.
Turning off the shower, Daniel quickly came out of the bathroom and changed his cloth. Grabbing the car key, he rushed out of his penthouse and drove to the college. Half an hour later, he reached the college and headed to the department of Physics. He blocked the way of a young boy and asked “Hey… Can you show me Professor Black’s cabin?” The boy replied happily, “Sure. Follow me.” Daniel Brooke followed the young man quietly, inspecting the surroundings. He never thought that he would come to meet his arch-rival on his own. He wondered how Carl Black would react to see him. When he was lost in his thoughts, the boy said. “There is Professor Black’s cabin.” The boy stretched his arm and pointed his finger ah
Daniel Brooke threw the gun to Derek and said in his commanding tone, “Call the police and inform Albert’s whereabouts.” With that, he walked out of the house. Derek signaled his men to take care of everything and followed Daniel Brooke. That night the police went to the address that had been given by Kyle Kings, but Albert was nowhere to be found. All his belongings were left which proved his presence. However, before the police could reach him, he ran away. When Daniel Brooke learned about it, he got mad, “You all are useless. This was our golden chance to capture him. All these days he was right under our nose, but we failed to locate him, and now he managed to escape. Find him at any cost before he harms anyone.” He kicked hard on the sofa and cursed loudly, “Fu*
Lisa woke up after a few hours and looked around, but she didn’t find any trace of Carl Black. She panicked and the view of him walking away from her, holding a suitcase came alive in front of her eyes. Grabbing the towel, she wrapped it around her body and walked out of the room. She heard the humming of someone and looked down at the source of the sound, only to see him doing something in the kitchen. It seemed that his mood was good. Lisa’s lips curled up involuntarily and came back to the room. She went to the bathroom to freshen up. After taking a quick shower, she came out and changed her clothes. Last night she didn’t look around the area properly so she went to the balcony and looked outside. There were many tall trees in that area. The chir
