(Cara's POV)

I was back in my room, but this time I was happy to be there, away from Vlad. Everything about him scared me, and the fact that he had so much power over me was scary.

I chose to push away the memory I had with Vlad; strangely, it wasn't as bad as I thought. When I pictured sex with vampires, I thought about wips, cuffs, and collars; there was none of that, at least not with me. He was as gentle as a vampire prince could ever be, leading me to believe it was some kind of special treatment. I had proved my worth.

Lost in thoughts I almost missed the silent tap on my window. I knew who it was right before I saw him. Teo, I almost hissed. What the hell was he doing? getting himself killed?

What bothered me also was how I cared about him; I didn't want him to get himself killed, I headed to the door, just to make sure it was locked, though I wasn't scared of anything that could be hindered by a common door, and next I pushed open my window, which was stiff due to disuse. Teo'

(Sophie's POV)I took the bottle away from Laurent's hand."Stop, please stop, you have to stop doing this, you've taken too much it's going to be dangerous" I begged. As the days went by, Laurent grew more distant, i understood why, but then I tried getting things right only to discover how much of a drunkard he was becoming because of me, his eyes were a little bit red, it was a surprise he was still partly sober from the amount he took, specks of being a werewolf I guessed. What was worst is that he had not even spoke one single word to me since the occurence, he didn't even look me in his eyes, so when he spoke up now I was surprised."I felt used... i always feared something like this would happen" he said and swallowed, "I never felt good enough for anything, I should have expected this, i shouldn't feel bad, i knew this was bound to happen, nothing good ever happens to me, but I thought, maybe it would change, i believed in mates, even if everything showed me not to, still stub

(SOPHIE'S POV)Alpha Rollins had gathered everyone to talk mostly on pack saftey and the curfew that would have to take place for our saftety- well me excluded and it was all over, he didn't look my direction again, he lead Gwen who's stomach was already bigger than mine, away."Is that normal?" I asked Laurent, directing my gaze at Gwen."Yes actually, wolf's take shorter time to give birth compared to humans" he said staring at my stomach much longer than necesary, "Yours looks big though..." he trailed off, I knew what he thought, my stomach was bigger than it should look for a human, I had tried ignoring the fact that recently, the child seem to be growing faster than ever before and I was getting used to feeling dizzy and drained of energy."I have to go" Laurent said, but I held him back"We still need to talk""I really have to go" he said, prying his hands away from mine, he didn't give me a kiss, not that I expected that but it still hurt when he left, leaving me standing the

(SOPHIE'S POV)The air seemed to freeze when he walked in; I could have sworn that I didn't hear him approaching. He twisted the door handle so swiftly that one wouldn't even have known that he broke it. Alpha Rollins.Somehow he heard our little commotion, and now he was here, so were Laurent and.... Ken.I understood now why everyone thought he was scary; it made sense to be afraid of him, and for the first time, I wondered how Cara felt about staying with him. Yes, he was strikingly handsome but also very dangerous looking."Apologies for barging in," he said, giving a smirk that only made me shiver. "But I have every right to know what the hell is going on in my pack." His gaze traveled from my eyes to Ken and then Laurent."What is a vampire doing in my pack, and why is he not yet dead?""No," I gasped. I stood from the bed, staggering towards Ken. I stood in front of him. Rollins looked at me, amused. "You can't kill him.""Stay out of this; you don't understand.""Why? Because

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Forty Three

(Rollins POV)I watched the vampire. I couldn't deny the strong dislike I had for these creatures. It was true that I blamed them for Cara's rejection, and I had every damn right to. Me letting him stay didn't change anything; I did it for Cara's friend. His dark eyes caught my attention again. Could my theory about the stronger and weaker vampires be wrong? After all, he was only a new born, why was his eyes so dark?."In this pack we have rules, and don't you think for once that me letting you stay means you are safe here? It's quite the opposite; I only did that for her, not you.""Thank you for letting me stay," he said to me. There was something different about him I couldn't pinpoint."Again, it changes nothing; there is no mutual relationship between your kind and mine, and if you ever interfere, I'll let you find out what happens next if you fall out of line."He nodded, trying to hide the scowl on his face. It was natural for him to hate us as wolves, but he was in my pack n

(Cara's POV)TRIGGER WARNING!"It's a shame" Vlad whispered to me, "That I cannot feed from you" he said, he looked different, he was hungry, I could see how dark his already black eyes looked, the streaks of golds were gone and this... this was so much scarier, I had never seen him when he was hungry and it was so stupid that I ended up in his room when this happened."We made a deal" i said, surprise at how bold my voice sounded, even if I felt the exact opposite."I would keep to my deal princess, but you have a job to do"I inhaled, anything to get me out of here."My soldier would lead you to our store house, get me one of them" he said before turning away from me. i didn't fully understand his question, get him one of what?I didn't care to understand, anything to put some good distance betweeen the two of them, so i hurried out of the room, and just as he said, a soldier waited, I let the soldier guide me to where ever the 'store house' was, I couldn't understand why he didn't

(Cara's POV)TRIGGER WARNING!He could have made it pleasurable, she was only a human who had happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and got captured, but of course he was the Vampire Prince and all along, I had been the blind one, he had been an absolute gentle man towards me and I was a fool to think he even have a soul. Now I noticed the strange power he had, he could control people, he finally let the girl scream, I believed in someway he did that as a punishment for me, he knew it was better I didn't hear her, but I stood silent, tunning everything off and thinking only about Rollins, it should have been enough but her screams got louder the moment his fangs sank into her, I couldn't look away and he stared right into my eyes, the smirk on his liips, he wanted to be feared, he wanted me to see the other side of Vlad Drakul- the only real side, the other was only a facade. It seemed like hours but I knew it was only minutes, the girl begged for my help and I had to sq

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Forty Six

(CARA'S POV)I took the glass of wine, hoping he would notice it—that the scent of the blood would be too small to be noticed, or maybe he would mix up the scent. I knew my blood was dangerous to the vampire prince, but what I didn't know was the consequences and reaction I should expect from him. I didn't think Teo knew either; he would have told me if he did. I took the drink to the Vlad office, irritated when I saw Shade there too. He had a smirk on his face. I bet he found what happened to the girl a week ago funny, he had been in a good mood ever since.I walked in."Your drink," I say, passing the glass to Vlad, trying my best to keep my hands steady. Vlad collected the drink without a single hesitation; he brought it to his lips. I watched him from the side of my eyes; if he could just take it, destroy the head, and everything would scatter, I could handle Shade; it would be a fair battle."Wait," Shade said to Vlad, and I almost hissed. "You would take a drink from her? someon

(CARA'S POV)"Where have you been and why do you look pale? Are you alright?" Teo asked. I should have known it was Teo; I should have known their scents, but at the moment all I thought was that I had been caught, and that was enough to confuse all my senses."You scared the hell out of me; I thought it was him." I rushed to the door, just to double check if it was locked."It's locked" Teo answered. He stared at me for a long while before he spoke up. "I know it would be funny asking this question, but are you alright?"I inhaled. I had never realized the fear I had for him; I knew what fueled it—the girl who had died. "I am not alright, but who cares about me? I am on a mission.""I do." We were both silent for a while. "I care about you.""You know here... things won't be great for me, but... he is so damn evil... I can't forget her voice; I have nightmares about it; she begged him.. I can't.. I can't forget all her screams." I didn't realize I had started crying again."What hav

(Epilouge, Part One)(ROLLIN'S POV) I walked into my room to see Gwen there. I didn't know how to tell her. Cara had decided that she would stay in one of the guests rooms till it was all over, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to stay here knowing that Cara was just a few rooms away and I had never been the one to get sneaky. Gwen had to know."We need to talk," I said to Gwen. She looked tiny now, too thin, but I still thought she was beautiful."It's about her, right?" she asked."I don't want you to stress yourself.""Let me guess, she is back at the pack, you both are back together, and you guys are waiting for me to die so you could go on with your relationships, right?" She asked, and I was silent. I had never felt this kind of guilt, but she surprised me when she smiled."I knew this was going to happen, but you see, I don't even care about the fact that all that went on between the both of us isn't real; I don't care about any of that. I am happy; you made me happy, and you

Three days after the war.I wished I could follow Rollins back to our pack; I wished... but I knew that things would never be the same, and so here I was, with Teo. I couldn't deny that I wanted to be with Rollins; every fiber of my being wanted him, but I couldn't have him.Teo walked down the stairs, fully dressed."Are we going somewhere?" I asked"No, not we, me."I shrugged. "Okay, when would you be back? ", He stared at me, giving me that long look. "Are you leaving me?" I asked, and I couldn't hold back the sob."Is not... is not in that way.""I don't understand.""We were never a thing; as much as I wanted it and still do, I know you love someone else, and I've learned some good lessons, we don't always get what we want , I would always love you, but not in that way, not anymore. You love Rollins; you would never settle for less. I want you to go get him.""What if he doesn't want me?""You both were meant for each other; I don't know what the outcome will be, but what I can

(Cara's POV)Teo led me towards the exit; he held the most of my weight, and I limped trying to go faster."Wait!""No, we have to go," he said, tugging me on, but I had stopped moving. I thought I saw something. "That window," I said, pointing to the window we just passed."No, Cara, not now.""Take me back," I said.Teo made an annoyed sound before taking me back. I looked through the window; I knew what I had seen. The 'human' girls ran out of the gate, but there were two vampires running after them. Those two vampires alone would be able to finish them off; how did they escape?"Sophie," I gasped."I'm sorry, Cara, we can't save them.""Yes, we can't, but you can.""Cara, I was given an order; I have failed him enough; please, we need to go.""Face the truth, Teo, I won't be allowed out of here, but they... they are so close to freedom, please. I have done so many wrongs; I want to do this one right thing, please.""Wait here, don't move one bit; you hear me, don't fucking move."

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Nine (Part Two)

(ROLLINS POV)"I want to give you a more honorable death. I'll let you kill yourself," he said, throwing the gun at me. "One shot to the brain, that would do," he said, his face still having that smirk I hated."And what do you know about honor?" I asked, staring at the gun, that wouldn't kill him, I knew it."Nothing. That would have been a better death... but now," his eyes glittered. "Welcome to hell," and then there was darkness. I could not see a single thing, and then Cara came into view, it was like a clip was being replayed before my eyes, a clip from my mind. She walked into Teo's room and let her robe fall to the ground.Teo waited on the bed, watching her, his eyes watching every part of her. I couldn't run from this; it was like I had been trapped by some invisible force in a very dark room. And then I saw Teo again, forcing himself on her. I watched her sob.I inhaled. "Get out of my head," I growled."Not yet," Vlad whispered, and then I was in my pack. The Shadow Pack

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Nine (Part One)

(Laurent's POV)I couldn't look her in the eyes; she didn't know that I had come searching for her. When Teo told me she was here too, I knew that I had to find her, but I couldn't even look at her. I couldn't let her deceive me this one more time.Maybe we were never meant to be. The thought alone caused a strange kind of anger to rise in me, and I finished off the vampire. I exited her room, her scent in there was too strong. Finally, I could focus; I knew my next target. Ken.I ran through the hallways, checking through room, to find him. Nothing."I guess I am the one you have been looking for." Slowly, I turned back to see Ken, and a smirk spread on my face."I've always wanted to pass a stake into your heart.""Why? Because I have every right to fuck your mate, or perhaps because she would always be left with a part of me any fucking place she goes.""Maybe you are right, but guess what?" I asked, not even waiting for his answer, "We both won't be getting her.""Not if I kill

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Eight

(SOPHIE'S POV)Ken left to help his master. Vlad. There had been an attack; I heard the shouts; I didn't know what exactly was happening, and maybe I didn't want to know anymore.I had made so many bad decisions in my life; I know I deserved this. I had never been a good girl, unlike Cara. I played with the feelings of others and was only loyal to Cara as a friend. My thoughts were cut short when the door to my room busted open and a vampire walked in. I knew him; he had always watched me with an expression on his face. I could only place it as hunger... and lust; he wanted my blood; he wanted to feed; and he wouldn't care if I died in the process. Ken was nowhere to be found; maybe he was dead. I was shocked that the thought of Ken dead didn't make me feel anything at all.The vampire licked his whitish lips as he moved closer, his dark red eyes regarding me, maybe deciding where to sink his teeth, and then they settled on my baby bump."No!, stay away from me!" I cried out. I hadn'

(ROLLINS POV)I knew I was in the right location when I got to the castle-like building; it had this dark loom over it; this had to be the place.Teo walked forward; he knew the directions. All through the journey here, I had given the two brothers some distance, as I knew they had a lot of catching up to do."That is the main gate; there are vampires guarding the gates—the strong ones; there is no way we can go in without being detected.""Then we would have to kill them as fast as we can," I said to him, and we walked towards the gates. Of course, the vampires noticed that we were not a part of them quicker than I anticipated. We had to act fast; there were about five of them at the entry. Teo ran forward; his speed alone told me he was stronger now, different. He faced two, engaging in hand-to-hand combat. I threw a wooden stake I had carved to him, and he slammed into the eyes of one. The remaining three came at me, all ready. I tried holding them all back at once till Laurent j

(Cara's POV)Shade walked into my room. I knew why he was here; it was time for my doze of wolf's bane. The past few days, I have begun to feel less pain anytime the liquid was injected into my veins, but I didn't know how much longer I would last.I didn't know where Rollins was now or what he would be doing. Had Teo found somewhere to start a new life? That would be better for him."It's so funny how this little liquid causes your kind so much pain," Shade said with a smirk as he drew closer. "I love seeing you in pain, and guess what? Vlad had been busy recently..." he trailed off, his hands on my throat. "And right now... he isn't watching you; he has finally seen you for what you are—a slut. He has that already; he doesn't need you, but I want to know... I've always wanted to know what he enjoyed when he was with you and what he saw so differently. His hands went down to my breast, and he pressed hard on it, his eyes brightening up. "Does this turn you on?""Get your hands off me

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Five

(ROLLIN'S POV)I couldn't bear it, that she was there with HIM. Teo assured me that he wouldn't harm her; Vlad wanted her alive... for other purposes, and that made me furious at the fact that he had touched her, but I guessed she knew when she was going to work for him.She was only helping. I tried to tell myself, after all she had said it, that I could be with anyone I wanted to be with, and I shouldn't be mad at her for fucking the vampire prince to get what she wanted. I couldn't help but wonder if she was hurt; if the bastard hurt her, I was going to kill him. But then again, vampires were already dead.Teo had managed to bring Laurent back from the woods. It was a wonder to me how he had yet again changed; little by little, he was becoming the Laurent I knew, but if you looked deeper into his eyes, you would see the little emptiness. Still, it was better; he was back now.Teo, Laurent, and Lucian sat in my office as we discussed tactics. Though deep down we knew the odds were a
