(Cara's POV)

We were back in the car, but thankfully it wasn't the same driver. It took thirty minutes to arrive at the place I once saw as home, and I couldn't describe how badly I missed this place. Everything about this place, but for some reasons, it didn't feel like home anymore. Whatever I had seen was just too much to be erased, and I would spend the rest of my life looking for superhuman beings like wolves.

We arrived right in front of Sophie's house, but I made no effort to walk out of the car. I didn't know how she would react to what had been happening these past few days.

"Are you alright?" he asked again, and I nodded.

He opened the door for me like an absolute gentleman, and I walked out. My dress didn't fit in here, but that was the least of my worries.

"I don't think it's better for you to come along," I say to Rollins.

"I'm actually coming with you, so don't even think about it."

I released a breath as we walked towards the old-looking building where Sophia lived. I c

(Cara's POV)I sat in the cars, tears falling down my eyes, blurring my vision. I couldn't take it anymore; everything was just too much. It's like I could finally face the reality of things and the world I was about to leave behind."Stop the car," I whispered. The driver wasn't stopping; he kept on going, and soon I was feeling the claustophobia rising; I couldn't breathe. "Stop the fucking car!"Instantly, the car stopped. I pushed open the door as I ran out of the car, and Rollins went after me, catching up with me."I just need a moment alone," I say, and slowly he lets me go.I ran down the street and took a quick corner. When I thought I was far enough away from him, I stopped. The street was empty, just a few passersby, all going about their business. I wonder what would happen if they knew that there were other beings living amongst them.It was all too much—my duties as a luna, the fear that I might live my life trying to be good enough—and for the first time I regretted eve

(Alpha Rollins POV)She didn't say one more word as we returned to the pack, her eyes stared out of the car window, watching everything passing by, there wasn't much to see.She didn't waited for me to open the door for her; she walked out on her own and left, heading straight for our room.I thought taking her out would help; I thought letting her see her friend would make her happy, but I had been so damned wrong; I fucked up bad, killing that man right in front of her. But it had been in that second, when everything slowed down and I saw her right in the car's way. At that moment, I snapped. I had waited for seven years to find her, my mate. I had given up at last and accepted Emmaline as my Luna, but then I found her, and even if she was only a human, so breakable and fragile, I accepted her. I wanted her. She made me feel things I had never felt before, things I thought I was not capable of feeling. With all those wants, I allowed myself to be blinded by reality. She could have d

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixteen

(Alpha Rollins POV)"What do you mean that she might not be human?" Teo asked. "She smells like a human; she behaves like one too," Teo argued."And she would have died like one," Lucian added."I think there is something she doesn't know; I have the feeling in me that werewolves can't be mated to humans.""You are right, that's like a glitch; you can correct it though by rejecting her," Lucia suggested.I finally turned my attention to him. "I don't understand you; since she came here, you've been acting weird, and it's getting disturbing. Does the fact that she is my mate not bother you at all?"He was silent before he spoke out, "I'm sorry, man. I know she is your mate, but this is beyond us; it has to do with the whole pack. Are you actually going to take her out on any of those meetings with other packs?, the one that Alphas with their Lunas attend?" he explained like I didn't know the 'meetings' he was talking about."What would they think of this pack if they discovered our Lun

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Seventeen (Part One)

(Cara's POV)I should be scared of him; he had killed a man right before my eyes. I should stay away from him, but the moment he let me have a peek into his past, I discovered that in some strange way we were similar. There was this space in his heart, and I wanted to fill it.I placed my hands on his chest, tracing lines down to his abdomen. He didn't push me away, and that gave me a little confidence to go further. I might not be as perfect as other girls out here, and I might not be as powerful, but there was something I had that they didn't. I had the Alpha -- at least that's what I believed. He was obsessed, and he didn't hide it. He didn't hide his want, and I loved seeing the bright, burning need in his eyes."Touch me," I whispered, "Make me yours."His eyes darkened. "You don't know what you are asking for," he replied, and he was right. I didn't know what I was asking for, but I wanted to be his in every sense."Then explain it to me.""You would be mine when I've marked you

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Seventeen (Part Two)

(Alpha Rollins POV)I woke up to her body so close to mine, but then I saw the scars, and it was all flooding in. I stood up, pulling away the covers, and that's when I saw it.I looked closer at the scars on her breast and biceps, but the most visible was the one on her neck.Wait, did I mark her? There was one emotion I thought I wasn't capable of feeling: fear. But now, for the first time in years, I was afraid. I always have things under control, but not now."Cara," I called, but there was no answer. "Cara," I called louder, and then her eyes flew open. She groaned."Wait, don't move," I say, standing to my feet."Rollins," she called. Why didn't she sound mad? Maybe she didn't understand yet; she didn't remember all I did to her; she would very soon. "You have no clothes on."Snap. I rushed to the dressing room, putting on the first pair of pants I could find, and I walked out.I picked her up, the bed dress covering her petite body as I carried her out of the room. She wasn't s

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Eighteen

(Cara's POV)~~I was in pain, but I had to prove a point—that I wasn't just a weak mate; I had to make him believe that I wasn't as weak as he thought. For the rest of the days, he still treated me like some fragile egg. I hated it. The scars were healing up. Matilda said they were healing up faster than normal, but she didn't deal with humans, so she couldn't tell. In a few days, it was all cleared, except for the mark on my neck that left a permanent scar. I thought the scar looked quite nice.I hadn't left the room once in the past few days because Rollins wanted me to rest. What 'more'resting' did I need?, I was totally fine, but he still wouldn't see it, but I think I got crappier as the day went by. I wish I could say it was only because he left me locked up here; that would be a lie. I didn't want to even think of the fact that he had been physically distant. Yes, he touched me a lot and kissed me a lot too, but he didn't go further than that. I shouldn't be angry, but I was

(Cara's POV)"Is it not about Lucian?" I lied, but May saw through that."You didn't seem so quick to leave a few minutes ago, not till I mentioned his name," she said. I expected her to be annoyed, but she wasn't."I just...""I'm not like that, you know," she says, opening the door wider. As Teo walked in, I had to follow, even if I didn't want to be anywhere in Lucian's room."This is your outfit," she says, tossing a pair of black leggings and a matching black leather crop top at me. I took it in my arms."You can change in the bathroom."I didn't move one inch; this was Lucian's bathroom."Don't worry, he's already at the training field; he won't be back anytime soon.I nodded, letting her lead me into the bathroom. She stood by the door, staring at me."A little... privacy?""Oh," she muttered, turning away and letting me undress.I didn't mind undressing in front of girls that I knew, but not strangers, and I also didn't want her to see the healing bruises or judge me, as I was

May walked to us, fully dressed."You guys hold your clothes in your mouth? Is that even comfortable?""Nope, but it is not so bad either; we get used to it," Teo answered, and May nodded in agreement."So, before we go further, How many people are present at the training field?" I asked"Just a couple," Teo answered."When guys say 'just a couple' is always the opposite, I need figures here.""Uhmm... half of the pack members, plus the Alpha.""Rollins is here!" "Yeah, what did you think?""You could have told me," I argued."You didn't seem to mind when I told you the 'you are the boss of yourself speech'""Well, I didn't think you were taking me to him.""Are you mad at me? I can take you back to the pack, back to your room.""Actually, you are right; I own myself, and besides, he gets to be here; why would I be locked up in the room?" I say, the annoyed look on my face slipping away and a smirk replacing it, I just couldn't go back.He smiled at that. "There you go, girl, and do

(Epilouge, Part One)(ROLLIN'S POV) I walked into my room to see Gwen there. I didn't know how to tell her. Cara had decided that she would stay in one of the guests rooms till it was all over, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to stay here knowing that Cara was just a few rooms away and I had never been the one to get sneaky. Gwen had to know."We need to talk," I said to Gwen. She looked tiny now, too thin, but I still thought she was beautiful."It's about her, right?" she asked."I don't want you to stress yourself.""Let me guess, she is back at the pack, you both are back together, and you guys are waiting for me to die so you could go on with your relationships, right?" She asked, and I was silent. I had never felt this kind of guilt, but she surprised me when she smiled."I knew this was going to happen, but you see, I don't even care about the fact that all that went on between the both of us isn't real; I don't care about any of that. I am happy; you made me happy, and you

Three days after the war.I wished I could follow Rollins back to our pack; I wished... but I knew that things would never be the same, and so here I was, with Teo. I couldn't deny that I wanted to be with Rollins; every fiber of my being wanted him, but I couldn't have him.Teo walked down the stairs, fully dressed."Are we going somewhere?" I asked"No, not we, me."I shrugged. "Okay, when would you be back? ", He stared at me, giving me that long look. "Are you leaving me?" I asked, and I couldn't hold back the sob."Is not... is not in that way.""I don't understand.""We were never a thing; as much as I wanted it and still do, I know you love someone else, and I've learned some good lessons, we don't always get what we want , I would always love you, but not in that way, not anymore. You love Rollins; you would never settle for less. I want you to go get him.""What if he doesn't want me?""You both were meant for each other; I don't know what the outcome will be, but what I can

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Seventy

(Cara's POV)Teo led me towards the exit; he held the most of my weight, and I limped trying to go faster."Wait!""No, we have to go," he said, tugging me on, but I had stopped moving. I thought I saw something. "That window," I said, pointing to the window we just passed."No, Cara, not now.""Take me back," I said.Teo made an annoyed sound before taking me back. I looked through the window; I knew what I had seen. The 'human' girls ran out of the gate, but there were two vampires running after them. Those two vampires alone would be able to finish them off; how did they escape?"Sophie," I gasped."I'm sorry, Cara, we can't save them.""Yes, we can't, but you can.""Cara, I was given an order; I have failed him enough; please, we need to go.""Face the truth, Teo, I won't be allowed out of here, but they... they are so close to freedom, please. I have done so many wrongs; I want to do this one right thing, please.""Wait here, don't move one bit; you hear me, don't fucking move."

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Nine (Part Two)

(ROLLINS POV)"I want to give you a more honorable death. I'll let you kill yourself," he said, throwing the gun at me. "One shot to the brain, that would do," he said, his face still having that smirk I hated."And what do you know about honor?" I asked, staring at the gun, that wouldn't kill him, I knew it."Nothing. That would have been a better death... but now," his eyes glittered. "Welcome to hell," and then there was darkness. I could not see a single thing, and then Cara came into view, it was like a clip was being replayed before my eyes, a clip from my mind. She walked into Teo's room and let her robe fall to the ground.Teo waited on the bed, watching her, his eyes watching every part of her. I couldn't run from this; it was like I had been trapped by some invisible force in a very dark room. And then I saw Teo again, forcing himself on her. I watched her sob.I inhaled. "Get out of my head," I growled."Not yet," Vlad whispered, and then I was in my pack. The Shadow Pack

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Nine (Part One)

(Laurent's POV)I couldn't look her in the eyes; she didn't know that I had come searching for her. When Teo told me she was here too, I knew that I had to find her, but I couldn't even look at her. I couldn't let her deceive me this one more time.Maybe we were never meant to be. The thought alone caused a strange kind of anger to rise in me, and I finished off the vampire. I exited her room, her scent in there was too strong. Finally, I could focus; I knew my next target. Ken.I ran through the hallways, checking through room, to find him. Nothing."I guess I am the one you have been looking for." Slowly, I turned back to see Ken, and a smirk spread on my face."I've always wanted to pass a stake into your heart.""Why? Because I have every right to fuck your mate, or perhaps because she would always be left with a part of me any fucking place she goes.""Maybe you are right, but guess what?" I asked, not even waiting for his answer, "We both won't be getting her.""Not if I kill

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Eight

(SOPHIE'S POV)Ken left to help his master. Vlad. There had been an attack; I heard the shouts; I didn't know what exactly was happening, and maybe I didn't want to know anymore.I had made so many bad decisions in my life; I know I deserved this. I had never been a good girl, unlike Cara. I played with the feelings of others and was only loyal to Cara as a friend. My thoughts were cut short when the door to my room busted open and a vampire walked in. I knew him; he had always watched me with an expression on his face. I could only place it as hunger... and lust; he wanted my blood; he wanted to feed; and he wouldn't care if I died in the process. Ken was nowhere to be found; maybe he was dead. I was shocked that the thought of Ken dead didn't make me feel anything at all.The vampire licked his whitish lips as he moved closer, his dark red eyes regarding me, maybe deciding where to sink his teeth, and then they settled on my baby bump."No!, stay away from me!" I cried out. I hadn'

(ROLLINS POV)I knew I was in the right location when I got to the castle-like building; it had this dark loom over it; this had to be the place.Teo walked forward; he knew the directions. All through the journey here, I had given the two brothers some distance, as I knew they had a lot of catching up to do."That is the main gate; there are vampires guarding the gates—the strong ones; there is no way we can go in without being detected.""Then we would have to kill them as fast as we can," I said to him, and we walked towards the gates. Of course, the vampires noticed that we were not a part of them quicker than I anticipated. We had to act fast; there were about five of them at the entry. Teo ran forward; his speed alone told me he was stronger now, different. He faced two, engaging in hand-to-hand combat. I threw a wooden stake I had carved to him, and he slammed into the eyes of one. The remaining three came at me, all ready. I tried holding them all back at once till Laurent j

(Cara's POV)Shade walked into my room. I knew why he was here; it was time for my doze of wolf's bane. The past few days, I have begun to feel less pain anytime the liquid was injected into my veins, but I didn't know how much longer I would last.I didn't know where Rollins was now or what he would be doing. Had Teo found somewhere to start a new life? That would be better for him."It's so funny how this little liquid causes your kind so much pain," Shade said with a smirk as he drew closer. "I love seeing you in pain, and guess what? Vlad had been busy recently..." he trailed off, his hands on my throat. "And right now... he isn't watching you; he has finally seen you for what you are—a slut. He has that already; he doesn't need you, but I want to know... I've always wanted to know what he enjoyed when he was with you and what he saw so differently. His hands went down to my breast, and he pressed hard on it, his eyes brightening up. • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Five

(ROLLIN'S POV)I couldn't bear it, that she was there with HIM. Teo assured me that he wouldn't harm her; Vlad wanted her alive... for other purposes, and that made me furious at the fact that he had touched her, but I guessed she knew when she was going to work for him.She was only helping. I tried to tell myself, after all she had said it, that I could be with anyone I wanted to be with, and I shouldn't be mad at her for fucking the vampire prince to get what she wanted. I couldn't help but wonder if she was hurt; if the bastard hurt her, I was going to kill him. But then again, vampires were already dead.Teo had managed to bring Laurent back from the woods. It was a wonder to me how he had yet again changed; little by little, he was becoming the Laurent I knew, but if you looked deeper into his eyes, you would see the little emptiness. Still, it was better; he was back now.Teo, Laurent, and Lucian sat in my office as we discussed tactics. Though deep down we knew the odds were a
