Heartbreak

Violet POV

I walked home dejectedly not bothering to take a taxi cause chatting with some driver isn't really what i want to do now, i moved like a zombie, dragging my feet, looking down, mind filled with depressed thoughts like how could i have let this happen, why am I such a fool

Suddenly I heard shouts around me like "what are you doing", "look up", "oh my, get out of there"

Confused I looked up to find myself in the middle of the road and a huge truck speeding towards me, I froze for a split second before running towards the other side of the road, bumping into a tall body, that tripped over a rock landing us both on the ground with me on top of the body

"Argh" I groaned as my head ached

"are you okay" a deep voice asked and i looked up to find the most stunning pair of deep blue eyes look at me

"ugh yes, I'm fine and sorry for bumping into you" i replied standing up quickly

While he still stared at me profoundly and i became confused "sir?"

he blinked and rose up immediately "ahh sorry, what you were you saying"

I eyed him for a second, why does he look so familiar "i said I was sorry for bumping into...."

"oh my, she was the one i was talking about Jaja, she is the Supergirl i told you about, Violet, oh thank God we met again" a familiar voice rambled beside me and i turned to see the old lady i had saved earlier

"oh mam, good to see you again" that was an obvious lie, seeing her again reminded me of what it cost to save her, and that isn't what I want to think of at all

"no no no, stop calling me mam, My name is Mrs Carter, and this is my grandson Elijah Carter, actually we were just coming back from the police station, where i gave my statement to the officers who immediately put the boys on hospital arrest. yeah!!, you beat them up so bad they landed in the hospital, Even the officers couldn't believe that a teenage girl could beat up four guys like that, you should have seen their faces when they watched the CCTV footage of what happened in the alley, their mouths were wide open in disbelief" she concluded laughing to herself

I stared at her with wonder, doesn't she ever get tired of talking so much

"I want to say a big thank you for saving my grandmother's life back there, I owe you one" a deep voice said behind me and i turned to look at him, it was then that it clicked

Elijah Carter, he had been on the cover of Forees magazine, as the business man of the year, he is popularly known for his chain of restaurants all over the world

He is wealthy and influential in the country and beyond, people know him for being humble and kindhearted, yet dangerous when provoked.

No wonder he had looked familiar, I've seen him on the television a couple of times

"The incident was caused by my dislike for bodyguards, though its necessary for some one like me to have a bodyguard especially for family, I refused to have one, and the idea almost cost me my grandmother" he groaned with a look of regret on his face

"I really don't know how to thank you, you saved her life back there and I really appreciate it" he smiled at me revealing his cute dimples

BINGO!!! I said in my head, ever since i missed the interview I've been looking for someone to put the blame on, and make them feel guilty cause it will make me feel less depressed and Mr Carter here is the perfect target for that after all it is partially his fault that I' missed the interview

Before I went ahead with the plan i realized that Mr Carter isn't just anybody, but a world renowned CEO.

huh, but that doesn't change the fact that it is his mistake that cost me my interview, besides i didn't have much time to think, in a few minutes the press are going to be here taking pictures of him since he is practically a celebrity, i even sighted a few people already taking his pictures

"look sir" I whispered not wanting Mrs Carter to hear and feel bad after all it was her grandson's fault

"you made thank me and all but your thanks will not get me my scholarship back, yes, i was on my way to an interview where I'll be getting a scholarship but i had to save your grandma thinking I will still catch up with the bus but i didn't"

He looked at me with a guilt filled face "Miss I'm sor......"

"please don't apologize, an apology won't get me my scholarship back, thanks to your mistake, I missed my dream interview, i hope you won't make more mistakes in the future, sir" i said sarcastically and turned to Mrs Carter "Goodbye mam" and she waved enthusiastically at me "bye Supergirl" she yelled and I left

Seconds after I left, they got swarmed with seas of cameras and the press, i sighed as I walked home, i thought about what I said to Mr Carter if it had been too harsh but honestly speaking i felt better by at least 20% the plan had worked well

when I got home, I met Bella and Lisa who is my best friend making a congratulations banner for me, their assurance of me winning only made me sadder

They both looked surprised to see me "you're home already, i thought the interview will take at least three hours" Lisa said while coming to hug me

Bella looked delighted, one would think she was the one getting the scholarship "Congratulations vee, sorry the decorations aren't ready yet, but I have prepared your favorite meal" she said, pulling me to the dining room where mouthwatering dishes was placed for me

Lisa grinned "while we eat, you are going to tell us when you will resume at the institute"

Bella rolled her eyes "We? the food is only for my dearest sister, you can have the leftovers in the pot"

Lisa playfully glared at her "how dare you" she said before smacking her head which led to a play fight between them

I looked at them, they had so much hope in me and I let them down, i didn't realize when fat drop of tears rolled down my cheeks, but Bella And Lisa realized and asked me in a worried tone "what happened"

I spent the next half hour explaining things to them and they listened with teary eyes, that is why i love them so much, when I'm happy they are happy, and when I'm sad they are sad too

"it is not your fault girl, you just have a good heart and there is nothing wrong with that, remember what our sensei always tells us in the middle of generosity lies opportunities, this happened for a reason" Lisa said comforting me

But I looked at her sadly "i think our sensei was wrong about that saying, anyways i need to rest my head, I'll go to sleep in my room, see you later"

As I lay on my bed i thought about what i was going to do now, i could always apply next year, and while waiting till that time I could create a small jewelry creating business and try to earn some cash

I smiled at my optimism, instead of moping in sadness like most will do, i made a plan cause that is how life works

My favorite saying has always been never give up on your dreams and don't let them die cause if you do your future will be filled with regrets

Bella came into my room "i made ginger lemon tea, very delicious you have to try it" she kissed my fore head and left

I smiled to myself, i have the sweetest sister, I took the tea and drank it knowing everything will be alright

Twenty feet from Violet's home was parked a black dark tinted car, the man inside received a call

"Did she get the scholarship" the caller asked

"No, My Lady, she didn't even go at all, I'll tell you the detail later"

"Good, come home now" the caller hung up

The man in the car looked at the house one more time and drove away

Author's Note💖: awwn i feel so bad for Violet, she is so optimistic though

do you think her decision of saving the woman over her interview was a good idea

we finally met Elijah, what do think of him?

Lisa and Bella are such sweethearts
