Elijah Carter

Elijah Carter kept playing the tune on the keyboard over and over again as he sang "Amazing grace how sweet the sound...." his voice echoed filling the room with his melodious voice

"Sir, if for any reason you quit your business and want to start afresh, music will be the best career option for you" his assistant Landon said to him coming into the room

He stopped the keyboard abruptly "Landon for no reason will i want to quit my business, cooking is my passion while music is just a hobby, remember that" he concluded rising from the keyboard seat

Landon chuckled "such a waste, many are dying to have a singing talent like yours, yet here you are bring nonchalant about it"

"what can I say, God gifted me so many talents I don't know what to do with them" they both laughed at this before Elijah sighed, eyes filled with sadness

"you know i think that singing might have been my true passion and what I'll be doing today as a career if my parents didn't force me to join this business"

Landon shook his head at him "that's so possible, but remember cooking is in your veins, it Is a part of you, if you weren't passionate about cooking, trust me you wouldn't own the best chain of restaurants, you wouldn't even be this successful talk less of winning business man of the year, so in my opinion your parents did you a huge favor by forcing you to take over this business"

Elijah smiled, Landon is more than an assistant to him, but some one to confide in, after all Landon is like a little brother to him

"thanks i really needed that"

"anytime sir, anyways i came to ask you about this company that ordered a large quantity of food from us, i think the name is Avia institute of Gems and Jewellery, so they ordered a lot of food cause I think they are having an orientation next two weeks, but when they sent in the amount to pay it was outrageously low, i mean their money can't even buy half of the food they ordered, they claim to be short on cash yet........."

"accept the offer" came Elijah's low voice

Landon's eyes widened with shock "whattttt, sir you can't be serious how can you............"

"don't you ever question me again" Elijah interrupted him abruptly "I know what I'm doing, my instincts tell me that we would need their help soon and this offer will be the perfect blackmail and they will have no other choice but to do what we want" he concluded giving Landon an evil smirk

"okayyyy, if it is your instinct then I can't oppose"

Landon replied remembering how Elijah will sometimes predict things calling them his "instincts" only for it to happen less than a week later, it's like God just wanted to add another gift to him despite having countless of others and then turn him into Mr perfection as if he already ain't one

Elijah Carter is the real meaning of Mr perfection at least, that is what the public sees, Elijah, a man who built his parents company from being penniless to earning in billions from just the age of 16, a man who won business man of the year for three years straight, a man deemed handsome thanks to his pretty face and powerful build of a body, a man with countless talents, but most importantly man who loves and fears God and is humble to a fault

That is what people love most about him, his humility

"I have work to do Landon, when you are done staring, you can go" Elijah stated, Landon rolled his eyes, but left quietly

five minutes later, he heard someone entered his office, "i thought i said you should go landon" he said with his eyes still buried on the laptop

"let's go out I'm bored"

Elijah frowned, the voice didn't belong to Landon but his grandma "grandma what are you doing here, you should be at home resting"

"well I'm bored at home so i thought we should go out, and stop what you are doing on your laptop I'm talking to you" she yelled

Elijah sighed and closed the laptop "grandma I'm busy, can't you come later" she shook her head "let's go now"

Elijah looked at her with pure sadness "i know why you are doing this and trust me when i say that i don't care about them any more"

her eyes were filled with tears "I'm sor......."

"please don't apologize it's not your fault" he said walking towards his grandma and cleaning her tears with his hands

He smiled at her "you know what, I'm not so busy anymore, so lets go out, probably to your favorite shopping mall, and I'll get you some nice dresses, how does that sound"

"great" she replied enthusiastically, feeling very excited "you know" she continued "most guys of your age take their girlfriends or even wives to the mall to buy dresses not their grandma"

Elijah groaned "please don't give me that talk again"

"i need to give you that talk because you need to get a girlfriend, you are 24 for God sake and I've never seen you with any girl all my life"

This made Elijah annoyed "maybe if I didn't have to shoulder the responsibility of the family business at such a young age of 16, I would have had a normal teenage life and probably found love, so don't blame me if I'm single now"

His grandma was gasped in shock at his outburst and he suddenly felt remorseful "sorry granny, i didn't mean to say that okay, please don't be mad at your one and only Jaja" he said giving her a cute smile

His grandma didn't say anything, and when they entered the car, she looked at him sadly, "you are right, you didn't have a normal childhood cause I didn't raise your father well and that is the reason, he sees you as a money making machine rather than a child"

Elijah felt bad instantly "grandma....."

"no let me talk Jaja, i agree that I'm a bad mother and that is why, i will do everything in my power to be the best grandmother to you and not repeat the same mistakes" His grandma said with tears in her eyes

Elijah looked sad, "heyy granny, please don't cry, look you are the best grandmother any grandchild can ask for and I'm very lucky to have you in my life, okay? so please stop all this regret nonsense and let's have a fun filled day at the mall, yeah???

"yeah!!!" she grinned

"good now lets go" Elijah replied starting the engine and driving the car out of the huge company he owns

They got to the mall 30 minutes later and his grandma screamed with so much excitement "gosh it has been so long since i went to the mall, I'm so excited to try on new clothes, you know the guy that shops for me has such bad taste in clothes for stylish women like me and its so annoying when he brings home such bland and unstylish clothes like what the fu..k"

Elijah burst out laughing as he brought out her electric wheelchair, which makes it easy for her to move around unguided, her disability costs her so much freedom since the doctors said that she shouldn't move around a lot or stress herself, so she has people that does everything for her including shopping which she complains about everytime

"I'm sure it's not that bad" Elijah said moving along with her to the entrance of the mall

"oh please keep shut what do you know about fashion.......ah I forgot my phone in the car help me bring It please, i need to take as much selfies as i want"

Elijah gaped at his grandma in disbelief, how can an old woman at the age of 65 be so spontaneous

"what are you looking at Jaja, I'll head to the mall entrance, you catch up with me" she concluded wheeling herself over to the entrance of the mall

Elijah groaned, He is in for a long and boring two hours of shopping with his grandma, he sincerely wished for a distraction

He got the phone out of the car and went to the entrance expecting to see her there, but all he saw was a beaten up teenager and his grandma's anklet on the floor and like the sun that rises in the sky, that is how the feeling arose in him, the feeling of dread and knowing that something bad has happened

this was my first my first time writing in a third person's POV, I didn't like it though

anyways now, we have met our male lead, what do we think of him
