Not An Obsession

JONATHAN'S POV:

A WEEK AFTER:

“Everyone is so useless!” I snapped at the head of my security team, Roger, who repeated to me the same thing they had all been saying for the past two months.

There was no sight of Iris.

He apologized with his head down and all I did was dismiss him, leaning by the rim of the balcony of my parent's luxurious mansion, and looking at the sun slowly set with the most random thought crossing my mind.

Isn't the sun tired of constantly rising and setting?

The thought crossed my mind maybe because I knew how tired of showing up everyday I had been since the night with my goddess. After seeing the embarrassment and pain she had been through prior to our meeting, I just wanted to hold in my arms and adore her, then afterwards, teach her a lesson for leaving me that hell of a money assuming me for gigolo.

I found it even more attractive, she had no idea I was among the top five chefs in the entire country of the Republic of Simia and the son of the most wealthy and affluent man in the entire country and second wealthiest man in the whole world. Everything about Iris had intrigued me that night and I had only stopped for a drink about a very annoying day, I actually never did stuff like this—-one night stand they weren't for me.

“Hello Honey. You okay?” I hummed hearing the voice of one of the most beautiful women in my life, my mother, Mrs Jessica Knight. She was the epitome of beauty with her natural long blonde hair and even after almost 50 years of living, she didn't look even thirty.

“I'm worried about you…your father is worried about you. Stepping into your room is creepy, son. The pictures of that woman are plastered around the walls of your room and you're barely interacting with anyone, especially me, your favorite person in the whole world.” She pointed out, and a soft chuckle escaped my lips as I finally turned to look at her.

“Look, honey, I just want you to be happy and you know even though I'm proud of you for all your successes, I really want my son to settle down, meet new people, which is why I have been putting pressure on you to meet new people and go out. And I don't know if this obsession is a means to punish me for…” She was still speaking to me, when my smile faltered and I cut her off not as harshly as I intended to while she was still speaking.

“IT'S NOT AN OBSESSION. I spent the night with a woman and I want to see her again…I need to see her again. Is that too much to ask for? And when you meet her you're going to love her, because that's going to be the woman I'm going to get married to. She's different, she's not like other women I have come across with or spent the night with, we connected on a different level ... .I don't even know how else to explain it…. You're either going to keep calling me crazy and obsessed or you're going to support me and help me find her.” I poured out my mind, shocking myself and taking my mother aback.

She walked closer to me and embraced me, “I'm not going to lie, for a second there, I thought she had used some voodoo on you.” She confessed, still patting my back and we both laughed.

“But you know I'm always going to support you always, son. Forever, your father and I both! Don't you ever forget that, and I'm sorry for implying that you were crazy though you were acting all creepy.” She spoke in a playful tone and I cackled, pulling us apart.

“Your friends will be joining us for dinner in an hour, get ready.” She patted my cheek and bent me down a little, so she could kiss my forehead.

“I love you.” She muttered and I responded, “I love you too.”

As she exited the room, I shut the doors to the balcony and returned to my room seeing all the images I was able to acquire from the media after they literally wiped her name and all embarrassing images of her from the entire database. Some photos were paparazzi images capturing her with her jerk ex-boyfriend who I had been thinking of what to do to teach him a lesson, maybe ruin his career? And majority were from the file called the dumped bride.

I'm going to find you. I muttered to myself looking at one of the pictures of her where she was smiling so bright, I noticed a deep dimple on her cheeks.

A true goddess… My own goddess.

***********

AN HOUR LATER:

“Mrs Knight, did I mention you are as beautiful as ever? You look so great, am I right, Mr Knight?” Tristan complimented and my mother smiled while serving herself as we all ate dinner at the dining room containing luxurious chairs and a long table which could fit in about fifteen guests.

“Oh Tristan, still a charmer I see.” My mum responded as she was seated by the right hand side of my father and across from me. I smiled seeing the look of playful disapproval on my father's face, and this happened every single time since we all gathered together.

“Jonathan, get your friend. How long are you going to keep flirting with my wife? Even with your fiancé present?” My dad retorted and Tristan wiggled his eyebrow at my father and held his fiancée's hand lovingly, making her grin.

He had met his fiancée, Veronica, three months ago, during his trip to WestKing, a country about three hours from here and while on a vacation during her birthday two weeks ago, he proposed. I was baffled as he had told me beforehand, asking him if it wasn't moving too fast but he assured me it wasn't and they looked happy, so he proposed and she said yes and she was moving here after they got married.

Veronica was a model and pretty though I had seen other prettier girl. I just felt things were a little bit too off but a man like Tristan in love, saw no flaws and never took time to think. I just hoped they would continue being this in love and happy.

“You okay, Mr Jonathan who has been putting off for the past months?” One of my other best friends, the only female I let around me, Scarlet, inquired and I nodded in affirmation.

“I apologize for ignoring you. Are you okay?”

Scarlet was like a little sister to me, she was sweet, amazing and beautiful, nicknamed Crazy Redhead back in school, for beating up a girl who dared to bully her and because she had natural red hair which she had now cut to her shoulder length and it suited her, displaying her freckles. She was a great listener and so attentive to me, and she was currently working as a prosecutor, while her elder brother, Ezekiah, ran their families Chocolate producing company.

“We will talk about later, after dinner, let's go bowling like old times?” She suggested, and I had planned on going through the report sent by Uncle on the possible places where Iris might be, so I could visit during the weekend.

“We want to join.” Tristan interrupted right before I could reject the offer and I looked away, thereby agreeing.

I zoned out while my parents and my friends interacted with each other and my thoughts drifted back to the only one for me, Iris.

It was definitely not an obsession. I told myself.
