Joy found out from Zeke later that Jackson Valor was protecting Serenity and that he was responsible for all her sufferings.

Her family feared retaliation from Jackson, so they sent her abroad.

Despite being out of the country, she kept up with Serenity's news.

She was informed that Serenity had moved out of the Valor Residence and was now renting a small apartment. Serenity was currently working as a paralegal in a law firm. Joy concluded that Serenity must have been dumped by Jackson Valor, so she hurried back to the country.

She planned to get her revenge on Serenity soon. She wanted to cripple one of Serenity's legs too to make herself feel better. She did not expect to run into Serenity at this banquet.
