Jackson turned to Serenity, his eyes on her. "I'm afraid things will not end well for Lynette. What do you think? Would you help her again?"

Serenity said flatly, "I won't."

"Because of how she framed Peter?" Jackson asked. He seemed unconcerned about it, but his eyes were laser-focused on Serenity, searching her expression for something.

"Partially yes," Serenity admitted frankly. "I'm not a saint. I won't help someone who has repeatedly tried to hurt me, framing me and innocent people. Lynette will never be at ease with how she used my identity. She won't stop hurting me. I've thought of the consequences when I told Lucas the truth.

"Innocent?" Jackson snorted. "Do you really trust him? Aren't you a lawyer? Aren't you supposed to believe in evidence? All the evidence now points to Peter."
