Terrified and trembling bodies watched their Boss who unlike them was composed and relaxed. Her fingers clutched the newspaper tightly while her chocolate hues were fixated on the headline of the day which shocked the whole of America.
“Ryan Wills, President of Wills Corporation passed away last night in a tragic fire accident.”
Sara watched how Evelyn skimmed over the article calmly unlike her who was nervous as a cat. Her hands had turned cold. And it wasn’t because of the air conditioner but because of the fear of the woman sitting in front of her.
Sara was the one who had handed that box filled with explosives to Ryan and once she exited the building, there was a huge explosion. She remained frozen on the spot unless the screams and cries rang in her ears. But instead of checking up on the situation, her legs automatically took her to her car as she hurriedly left the scene.
Joseph, the CFO of Maria Estates, on the other hand, was patiently waiting for his Boss’s verdict on the incident. Last night, he and his team were successful in convincing the employees of Wills Corporation after Evelyn’s abrupt exit from the party. They also adeptly handled the media and exited the building with proud grins adorning their faces. But Joseph has never expected that his day would start with such bone-chilling news that would shake the entire business industry.
Ryan was a very powerful name in Australia and his loss was devastating to his native land and also to the business world. People were expressing their grief and paying tributaries to the tycoon but his fans were demanding an official statement from the American government as they were suspecting that his demise was a murder, not an accident.
“We don’t have any hand in it.”
Evelyn finally broke the ice and put the paper down on the table.
“It was an accident. The fire started due to an electrical fault. Unfortunately, Ryan was present near the electrical room when the fire started. He didn’t get time to escape and ended up being devoured by the huge flames. I deeply express my grief for his loss but at the same time, we need to make this clear to the world that it has nothing to do with us. None of the employees of Maria Estates were present when that devastating explosion took place and to remind you, we were guests not organizers of the party. So, there is no way we could be suspected. We will pay our condolences to him and I will be the one addressing the press so you don’t have to worry about it. Just forget about it and carry on with the work.”
She explained to them in a professional tone. Her words brought a smile of relief to Joseph’s face. Sara also exhaled and closed her eyes. She felt as if a boulder has been lifted off her shoulders.
Joseph then stood up and grabbed the newspaper before bowing to Evelyn, “I will take care of the rest, Boss.”
Evelyn gave him a stiff nod before shifting her eyes to the girl who was galloping large ounces of air. She seemed too relaxed as if the cops were about to nab her only for starting the fire.
Noticing a heated gaze on her, Sara opened her eyes only to turn stiff as a board. Evelyn was looking straight at her. Resting her elbows on the armrest, she had her fingers steepled while her eyes were set on Sara, analyzing her silently.
Sara instantly cast her eyes down. Her dread resurfaced and she couldn’t help but shiver.
Evelyn cocked a brow at her bizarre behavior, “What’s the matter with you?”
Sara failed to answer that. She strived to open her mouth but the seam of her lips got pasted together. It was as if her body was also not cooperating.
“Sara, let’s go,” Joseph spoke in a hushed tone when he noticed the tension between them.
Sara couldn’t be more thankful to him. Bobbing her head, she got to her heels and bowed 90 degrees to Evelyn.
“Ma’am, I think we should first do a security check or get a heads-up of the current situation before visiting Wills Corporation. Barging in there could be parlous.” Joseph clipped.
Evelyn looked at him and after contemplating for a minute and then telegraphed her consent with a curt nod.
Without dallying further, Joseph immediately turned his heels and headed to the door with Sara following his trail. Twisting the knob, Joseph headed outside while closing the door behind him quietly.
Sara sprinted but by the time she reached there, the door got locked. She then grabbed the knob and tried to open it but failed to open it. Her brows furrowed. The knob rattled as she started twisting and turning it vigorously.
Sara started to perspire, her breath turned erratic and her heart started hammering in her mouth.
“What’s wrong?” She couldn’t muster the courage to turn around and face the woman who sealed the door on purpose.
“You don’t possess the strength to break it so I would suggest you save your breath. Cause you have a lot to answer me, Sara”
Her deep and brusque voice reverberated through the cold walls making her flinch. Having no choice, Sara turned around at a snail’s pace. Her heart was in her throat and her eyes were glued to the ground.
The first thing that came into her sight was Evelyn’s shiny black toe pumps. Startled, she stumbled back as she was too engrossed in fiddling with the knob that she failed to hear Evelyn who was approaching her from behind, like a predator.
Her mouth turned dry when her blurry eyes met with her icy ones. They were boring holes in her face and Sara wasn’t too naive to understand that Evelyn had figured out the reason behind her apprehension.
“M-Ma’am, I-”
“Who gave you the gift?”
Her straightforward question caught her off-guard.
Gulping, she looked down unable to meet her eyes, and forced herself to come up with a suitable answer.
“I-I.. I just delivered the gift that Joseph gave me-”
*Smack*
Before she could complete her justification, her head was turned to the right.
Sara was too stunned to react but soon tears filled her eyes when she felt her cheek on fire. Her lips wobbled as she palmed her throbbing cheek and looked at Evelyn in fear.
“I a-am s-saying the truth.”
“Shut up” Evelyn cut her off with a growl. Towering over her, she gripped her hair and tugged it harshly. Sara let out a shrill cry.
“Stop playing around Sara. Just tell me for whom are you working and I will let this matter slide.” She hollered.
Sara quickly clutched her hands, “I am telling Ma’am but please let me go. I beg you.” She spoke and burst into loud sobs.
Evelyn clenched her jaw. Leaving her hair, she grabbed her right forearm and dragged her to the middle of the room. Sara tripped on the carpet and was about to land face first but balanced herself on her palms. Quivering, she lifted her teary eyes and found Evelyn standing in front of her with her arms crossed over her chest.
“Start speaking”
She spoke gruffly while glaring at her slouched form.
Biting her lips, Sara blinked away her tears and gulped the heavy lump that was formed in her throat.
“I-I am sorry Ma’am but I am saying the truth. I did give Ryan the same gift which Joseph had given to me. Once our team left, I went back to my car to take the gift but I swear Ma’am, I had no idea that there were bombs in it. I think someone swapped the boxes when I was watching our team departing from the hotel. I am not working for anyone-”
“But I did tell you to be watchful, didn’t I?” Evelyn cut her off with a low sneer making her quickly seal her lips.
“I had sent this gift to Joseph and told him to hand this over to you. You’re my personal assistant so on my behalf it was your duty to send my apologies to Ryan with this gift. Joseph did tell me that he had specially sent this message of mine to you that you wouldn’t leave that gift alone considering the gravity of the situation. Ryan was already a pain in the ass and I knew something dangerous was on the horizon so I fucking told my staff to stay on their toes the whole time.” Evelyn continued chiding her.
Sara lowered her head as she ran out of words. Evelyn was right though, she did remind her numerous times to be careful unless she leaves that building.
Sara grunted when Evelyn grabbed her right shoulder and hauled her forward. Moaning in pain, she scrunched her brows and looked up but all the blood got drained off her face when her eyes met with her red-rimmed ones.
“Because of your recklessness, my company got into trouble. Your one fucking stupidity put Maria Estates under the radar of suspicion. I have told you multiple times that I don’t forgive people who dare to ruin my empire’s image.” Evelyn screamed in her face.
Sara was regretting hard. Why the hell she lost her focus and ended up doing something so unforgivable? If only she had been careful, things wouldn’t have turned out this bad for Maria Estates. She knew well that Evelyn prioritized her company over her life and didn’t hesitate to claim the lives of people who dare mess with her.
Sara squeezed her eyes as she readily accepted her mistake. Very few people from Ryan’s cohort survived the deadly explosion as they were lucky enough to get help on time. But that came as bad news for Evelyn because they were the ones who linked her name with his accident.
The accusations, however, lacked evidence so the cops dismissed them right away but the rumors spread in the city like wildfires. Evelyn knew that she will be interrogated unless Wills Corporation releases an official statement as to what led to their CEO’s unfortunate demise.
But again, all this was engendered because of her secretary’s immaturity. And Evelyn couldn’t condone it.
Griping her collar, Evelyn forced Sara to crane her neck up and look into her eyes, “What led you to stray?”
Her question left Sara staggered. Cold beads of sweat adorned her forehead as she stared into her chocolate hues that demanded an answer.
She quickly joined her hands, “I am sorry Ma’am, I don’t know who did that.”
Sara wanted the earth to open and swallow her alive. No way, she would be able to answer her that. She would be damned if she told her what exactly tempted her to take such a silly step.
She continued pleading hoping her heart would melt but the ground was snatched beneath her feet when Evelyn flashed her a smirk.
“The guts you have is commendable. I caught you multiple times staring in a particular direction so don’t shove me lies. Admit it and I’ll reduce your punishment.” Evelyn gritted and cupped her chin, digging her nails into her skin.
Sara turned pale as a sheet. She couldn’t believe that Evelyn was scrutinizing her actions from afar when she herself was having a hard time dealing with that fucking asshole.
She fell into her own trap. Sara knew well by now that there was no way out instead of confessing. Evelyn’s raged expression had made clear to her that she didn’t believe any of her cock and bull story.
Straightening her spine, she moved back and began speaking.
“There was someone at the party who was continuously staring at me. Initially, I tried to avoid it but eventually melted in his dark eyes. They were so exquisite. The man was too perfect to be ignored. His sturdy and masculine figure was draped in an impeccable black Armani suit. I couldn’t see his face in the dark which was a shame so I decided to meet him once the party ends. He was too handsome for someone like me and noticing his nonstop stares erupted butterflies in my stomach. He was trying to make a move and I gladly accepted it.” Sara halted and gently placed a rogue strand of hair behind her left ear. Her cheeks were glowing red.
Evelyn rolled her eyes at her flushed face, “So, you went to approach him?”
Sara chewed her lips before giving a hesitant nod, “Forgive me Ma’am but your sudden exit from the party spilled water on my one chance to meet my dream man. I was in tears but I didn’t want to let go of this golden opportunity. So, after Joseph and the rest left, I stayed back and went to look for him.” She spoke and then looked at Evelyn.
“I had seen nothing apart from his black Armani suit and the silver earrings in his left ear so searching for him was a bit difficult. That’s why after keeping the gift in the car, I immediately headed to the hall as that’s where I have seen him last but to my surprise, I collided with him in the parking lot. Maybe he didn’t hear me approaching as he quickly climbed in his black Maserati. Screaming, I ran to him but he rounded the car and drove away at a breakneck speed. I was too shocked and heartbroken.” Sara whimpered and let the tears fall freely.
Evelyn huffed a loud sigh completely fed up with her dramas. “Come to the point fast”, she spat and pinched the bridge of her nose.
Sara wiped her tears with the back of her hands and slowly tried collecting her crumbled state, “After that, I went back to my car, took the gift, and gave it to Ryan.”
“THAT’S IT!!” Evelyn finally exploded, “YOU FUCKING MADE ME WAIT TO HEAR THIS RIDICULOUS SOB STORY OF YOURS? DOES THAT MAN HAVE A HAND IN THIS ACCIDENT OR NOT?”
Sara flinched at her outburst but quickly composed herself. Mustering up some courage, she looked at Evelyn who was glowering at her, “I don’t know Ma’am whether he was involved or not but I think I misunderstood his gestures. He looked in a hurry when he was leaving the party.”
Her words caught her attention. Evelyn threw her a quizzical look, “Why? Wasn’t he staring at you on purpose?”
She frowned noticing her disquiet face. Sara was having trouble answering that but again she had no choice. Moistening her chapped lips with her tongue, she lifted her swollen eyes and finally professed.
“It wasn’t me Ma’am, it was you. That man was stalking you the whole time.”
(Warning: Triggering content ahead.)Dread.After so many years, Evelyn was suddenly overpowered by this emotion. Her emotions were haywire. She couldn’t help but feel cautious. Ryan’s death wasn’t troubling her anymore. Rather her new cause of worry was Sara’s revelation. But Evelyn wasn’t scared after hearing that instead it only bolstered her belief.’Cause, she had experienced this earlier too.′Evelyn always had this constant feeling of being watched. Though she had shrugged it off thinking that it was her paranoia, Sara’s words again turned everything back to square one.Since last year, this constant haunting feeling of being stalked had turned stronger, and from being occasional, it turned routine. To catch her stalker, Evelyn herself hacked into the CCTV of various hotels where her meetings were organized but found nothing. Either the managers of those hotels were working hand in glove with that evil soul or her stalker erased the evidence before she could catch it.Swirling
Evelyn Damn, why is it so hot?My hands on their own made their way to my cheeks which were burning. I opened my eyes only to be blinded by the sunlight peeping through the slits of the curtain.“Argg”Groaning, I placed my right elbow balancing myself on it while with the other, I continued scratching my eyes which were swollen.“Was I sleeping in an oven?” I spoke groggily when suddenly a high-pitched scream rang in my ears that almost stopped my breath.‘That voice... it was me.’Panicking, I checked my surroundings only to find myself in my room.‘But wasn’t I with...Miller?’A soundless gasp escaped my mouth when the memories of that dreadful incident flashed in my mind.I went to his company to finalize the deal. That fucking pervert tried taking advantage of me and I was fighting with him. But,“But then what happened?”Closing my eyes, I rubbed my temples trying hard to recall but all I could see was darkness. Removing the duvet, I checked myself. I was in my nightgown.“Don’
Maria Estates“Sorry to disturb you Ma’am but the situation had turned critical. We can’t control it anymore.”Joseph told Evelyn with a heavy heart who was sitting on her chair, her gaze stuck on the bundle of newspapers sprawled all over her table.Another tragedy knocked on her door as someone murdered Miller and blasted the entire building. A way to erase all the evidence. Evelyn as usual didn’t remember that Miller was killed ruthlessly by a dark shadow who brutally strangled him with a leather belt. All she knew was that she was molested by Miller and fortunately got saved by Brandon. But for some reason, her heart wasn’t ready to accept him as her savior. Her employees greeted her with this shocking news that blew her brain away. First Ryan, now Miller. Whoever approached her with evil intentions was being wiped off by her guardian angel. Someone was protecting her while staying in the shadows but his ways were wrong and she had to face the consequences of his crimes. And just
“Police had dismissed the interrogation and believed that it was an accident. Mr. Mason Gilbert is now in charge of finding new clients for the project and the reporters who were incriminating Ma’am have been caught.” Sara narrated the Mafia everything in one breath.Tearing his gaze away from the shivering girl, Dylan looked at his most trusted man.“Where are they now, Elijah?”“In the basement, Boss.” The cherry-haired male replied to him in a crisp tone.“Kill them.”Dylan spat and shifted his gaze back to Sara who paled in response. But ignoring her terrified state, he commanded his men to open fire on his hostages which meant killing the twenty people who were locked in his basement.Sara was busy processing what was happening around her when his men nodded and took their leave to accomplish their deadly mission, leaving her all alone in the room with a man armed with a loaded pistol.‘They’re going to die.’The thought itself turned her blood cold. A bead of sweat trickled down
“Argg!!” Groaning out loud, Evelyn grabbed her throbbing head while massaging her temples softly. Her face scrunched in pain as she felt her head would explode. Once her vision turned clear, she pushed away the covers and sat up on the bed. “Here” A palm came into her view holding a few white tablets. Evelyn was still in a daze so she simply lifted her head but the moment her eyes recognized the figure, she lost her cool. “For headache. Don’t you dare consider them drugs?” Brandon chuckled and perched on the mattress. His gaze fell over her frail figure made him frown in worry. Evelyn wasn’t in the mood to deal with him so she simply looked away and scooted to the other side of the bed. His smile dropped when she stood up and padded to the bathroom without saying a word to him. “I didn’t bring you home.” Brandon quickly spoke. Evelyn halted but didn’t turn around. He noticed how her shoulders got tensed. So, he kept the painkillers on the tray before standing up from the bed.
The sound of clicking keys and the constant ringing of telephones were the only sounds that could be heard in the closed room. Adjusting her glasses, Evelyn clicked on the new tab. A contended smile reached her lips as she finally got her hands on the file that she had been searching for days.Evelyn immediately clicked the download option to save it on her system and mailed it to her ID so that she could make many copies of it. The file was confidential and she had planned not to reveal it to her two fly-by-night assistants. They had given her enough reasons to doubt their fidelity.Suddenly her phone rang. She picked it up.“What?”“The clients have left for Maria Estates, Boss. They’ll be arriving in thirty minutes.” Joseph told her.“Great. Tell Sara to be in the meeting room and check if anything has been missed out. Krystal and Justin will be welcoming them.” She paused before speaking in a low voice, “What’s the update?”Joseph stiffened after hearing her grave tone, “Uhmm, I a
The tension in the room was so thick that it could be cut with a knife. The meeting proceeded smoothly but it wasn’t pleasing for her as she could feel heated glares on her body the whole time. And she knew very well to whom it belonged. But still, she carried on by underscoring the prominent features of the project. Xander had his staff accompany him, they were highly impressed by Evelyn’s business knacks and eloquence.“I know this hotel chain will bring troubles for the inhabitants that’s why I have decided to provide them the land of the exact square yards they had purchased without any cost or going under the legal formalities. The entire procedure will be taken care of by Maria Estates as I believe it is incumbent on us. We won’t be working like other businessmen who snatched people’s lands without providing them the compensation. Also, a massive number of trees will be cut down during the construction so we will be planting double the number of samplings in return. Maria Estate
An esoteric outline of a well-built figure ensconced in the swivel chair could be seen in the dark room. The only source of light illuminating the room was emanating through the white screen hung on the opposite wall. His upper body was draped in a black shirt, with three of his top buttons undone revealing his clean-toned chest. The shirt was folded to his elbows revealing his tattooed veiny hands. His ring-cladded fingers were coiled around the glass as he took casual sips of alcohol. Leaning his head on the headrest, he removed the glass from his lips only to snuff the cigar that he was holding in his right hand. The room reeked of alcohol and tobacco. His bloodshot eyes were fixed on the screen, a stoic expression on his face as he watched the naked woman enjoying herself in the shower, completely unaware of his sinful eyes capturing her every move. She was none other than Evelyn. His dark eyes roved over the sparkling rivulets cascading down her supple skin. Evelyn gathered her
5 years later“Breakfast is ready kids,” Evelyn shouted as she settled the pot filled with hot stew in the middle of the dining table. These past years brought nothing but boundless happiness for Evelyn and Dylan. Evelyn was hesitant to leave San Francisco so Dylan settled here only and took her to his mansion. Since they both were already married so it wasn’t a problem. Evelyn’s parents and Maria stayed in Evelyn’s villa and they used to come to visit them often. Dylan and Evelyn were blessed with two kids. Evelyn had Grace immediately as Dylan was determined to have a kid with her. And just last year they both got blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Chris.“Coming Mom,”A sigh escaped her lips when she heard her four kids shouting in unison. Placing her hands on her waist, Evelyn glared at her children who were busy playing video games with two grown-ass men, they were none other than her husband and her best friend. Evelyn huffed and sauntered towards them before standing in front o
“D-Dylan, listen to me,”Evelyn mewled as she buried her face in his toned chest. Dylan on the other hand stormed out of her office while holding her tightly in his arms.Evelyn died in embarrassment as her staff watched the duo with open mouths. Dylan stopped near the car and opened the door with his one hand before placing her carefully on the passenger seat.“Dylan, where are we going?” Evelyn queried but he didn’t bother replying to her and fastened her seatbelt before slamming the door shut. Evelyn was gobsmacked but she quickly tried opening the doors only to find them locked. Huffing, she crossed her arms beneath her breasts and glared at looked at Dylan who climbed inside and kickstarted the car.The car rolled onto the cobbling pathway. Evelyn was awestruck as she gaped at the magnificent mansion. Dylan brought her to his house. He quickly got out and soon rounded to her side. Evelyn removed the seatbelt and tried to step down but Dylan beat her to it as he again scooped her
Three weeks passed in a blur. Just like the calmness after a raging storm, everyone got their respective endings. While it was shocking and disastrous for Xander, Evelyn received a happy end but it didn’t include Dylan. She gave priority to her family.Evelyn returned to her mansion with her parents and Maria. Dylan didn’t stop her but she had seen the pain in her eyes when she decided to part ways. Xander snatched the days she had asked Dylan to figure out her feelings. There was still a small part of her heart that was deterred to accept him. It was still scared of Dylan and there was nothing wrong with that. He has given her enough reasons to back out. Evelyn was grateful to him for saving her mother’s life but she doesn’t want to reward him with her devotion. She still was reluctant in taking such a huge step.Marriage is a sacred bond that not only relies on love but trust and understanding. And the cornerstone should be respecting each other. Her marriage was a damp squib, Dylan
Xander couldn’t believe his eyes. The girl standing in front of him was not his Eve but...“Giselle?”He whispered, still in a trance as he removed her veil with trembling fingers and lifted her chin to look at her face. But no sooner their eyes clashed, than rage swelled inside his heart.“Yes sweetheart,” Giselle uttered and flashed him a smirk.Flashback“What are you waiting for, Boss? Let’s blow her brains out. She is no longer useful and if she lives then she will only be a nuisance for us.” Hunter whined and looked at Dylan who unlike him was relaxed. Giselle on the other hand was horrified.“NO!! PLEASE. I did what you said. I also helped you rescue Mrs. Clarke. Please don’t kill me.” She cried and grabbed Hunter’s legs but he jerked her off.“My gun opened your mouth, bitch. Shame on you, despite being a woman you let a man exploit another woman. Helped him in his nasty plan, and let him hold her mother hostage, in your own fucking home. You sold your morals over a few bucks
Clutching her heavy gown, Evelyn alighted the car keeping her gaze on the floor. She acted according just as Brandon told her and till now was successful in tricking Xander’s people who were appointed to keep a keen eye on her. A bunch of girls quickly came forward and helped her with her long flower veil. Evelyn raised her head, and a scowl appeared on her face as she expected media and hustle and bustle but the place was eerily silent. Still frowning, she lifted her head. Her jaw dropped as instead of the church, she was in front of a humongous and marvelous villa.Frightened, she looked at the girl who was standing beside her. Her eyes lit up as she was none other than Sara.“Sara?” she whispered, still not able to believe her eyes.“Don’t worry Ma’am, you’re safe,” Sara chirped and pointed her finger to the front. Evelyn followed her eyes only to see Joseph climbing out of her car. He was her chauffeur and she didn’t even realize it.A chuckle escaped her mouth which they both ret
“Move.”Brandon growled as the female bodyguards who were assigned to guard Evelyn’s room blocked his way.“I am sorry Sir but no one is allowed inside.” One of them replied in a professional tone. They had strict orders not to let anyone enter the room without Xander’s permission.Brandon smirked and tilted his head to the left.“Can you tell them to move?” He spoke. Those two women frowned and followed his gaze to see whom he was talking to. A shocking gasp flew out of their mouth and they spat blood when Brandon slit their throats in one swift move. Both the women unstably succumbed to death. Their blood spattered staining his white suit but he wasn’t a tinge bit bothered as he pushed away their dead bodies and nodded at Aaron who quickly came out of his hide spot and began his work to hide those corpses.Brandon dropped his gaze to his coat. A scowl marred his face.“Fuck!!” He gritted and immediately wrenched out his coat and threw it on those women.“Hide it too. We can’t leave
“Get down Eve,” Xander spoke in a stern tone as he eyed the stubborn girl who was sitting beside him. Evelyn ignored him and kept her eyes fixed on the window following the trails of the water droplets cascading down the glass pane.Xander was keen on executing his plan. The demons inside his head had no mercy for any of the wrongdoers. Xander couldn’t afford the slightest mistake, especially at this crucial point, so he decided to be his sole companion on his journey. Xander didn’t want to rely either on Brandon or Giselle whom he had assigned to keep Mrs. Clarke in check. He took everything in his hand and to expedite his plans, he forcefully brought Evelyn to the shop to buy her a wedding dress despite the raging storm.“I am asking you one last time, get down. Don’t provoke me to use force.” He grated, his hold tightening on the steering wheel.Evelyn on the other hand snorted and turned to face him, “What more can you do other than force me? You stooped so low that you threatened
“Finally home,” Giselle sang and chuckled to herself before turning off the engine. Undoing the seatbelt, she alighted her brand-new Mercedes. Her gaze sparkled as they raked over her giant opulent possession. It was the latest model and she was able to get her hands on it. Tracing her fingers over the tinted windows, she smiled and headed inside her apartment. The bounce in her walk exuded her joy.Instilling the key in the hole, she twisted the knob and entered her room which was swathed with darkness. Giselle stretched her hand to turn on the switches and then proceeded to lock the door. Stepping out of her heels, she jogged to the living room.“Ahh!! I am tired-OH MY GOD!!”A horrifying shriek escaped her mouth when her gaze fell on the tall, muscular intruder who was ensconced on her black leather couch, with one leg resting over his knee.“You were dead,” She murmured not believing her eyes. Dylan on the other hand smirked at her petrified state.“Thanks to your prayers that I a
“W-What?”Xander broke down in cold sweats. Every cell of his body buzzed with terror. Brandon watched him with a quizzical expression.“What what? Haven’t you locked Aunt Maria and Evelyn in their rooms?”Xander closed his eyes, relief washed over him. Brandon frowned, something was fishy.“Uhmm, that’s necessary. Evelyn would run away and Aunt Maria is not on my side so I have to do that. I told you not to worry, I will make everything right.” Xander quickly spoke and forwarded his legs to leave the room, not to prolong this conversation but Brandon jogged to him and grabbed his forearm from behind.“I am not done yet. Why Mr. Clarke is on your side?” He threw another question but Xander dodged it.“I told you to leave everything to me.” He reiterated and yanked his hand away from his hold, “You don’t trust me and I don’t have any intention of winning your trust either. All I want is to protect Evelyn and I will do that no matter what. But since you’re her friend, I consider it my r
