I could feel a smile on my face as I woke up today. It was my birthday and also the day I would finally meet my mate. Many times, I wondered how people found their mates. I had imagined it would be under the moon, with lots of family members cheering for us. Then the Alpha would call us in, me and my mate and we would kiss each other while the others applauded us.
“Wake up from your dream.” I urged myself, then laughed. It was going to be a good day, I could feel it in my bones. I went to the bathroom and I made sure to brush properly, many times in case I had to kiss my mate. I tidied up my room very quickly because I had to make breakfast for Mother and Cassandra. I took the framed picture of my father, smiled at it and then told him what today was. “Dad, today is the day finally.” I was literally dancing, the way a new bride dances on her wedding day even though there was no music, just the one playing in my head. “Did something happen?” It was Mother, she was standing at my door, watching me. “Mother, how long have you been standing there?” I asked her. “What are you doing? Aren't we going to have breakfast?” She asked me. She didn't look happy, not that she had ever been happy with me though, I just didn't let it bother me. “I'm sorry, Mum. I'll be down in a giffy.” I replied and quickly tidied up my room. I must have been carried away by my excitement that I didn't know what time it was. “Better.” She responded and went downstairs. She was my step mother whom I loved so much and Cassandra, my step sister who was older than me with a year. We shared everything together since my father married her mother. We became one family and tried to help each other. It was hard for me because I was left to do most of the house chores because, according to them, I was the last child. I didn't complain but did everything I could to make our family grow and be happy. I rushed downstairs at the speed of light and attended to my chores. I washed and cleaned the dishes from last night, cleaned the kitchen sparkling white and made breakfast. Scrambled eggs, they were my favorite. When I was done, mother and Cassandra were already waiting to be served. “Should we wait for you till we die before we can get good food served to us?” Cassandra asked, currently in one of her messed up moods. “I'm sorry.” I responded and continued humming my songs. It was a song my mother also sang for me on my every birthday untill she died. “I need water.” Cassandra ordered. She sat comfortably not willing to move or stand. “You can stand to get the water, Cassandra. I'm serving mother's food at the moment.” I responded and It didn't come as a shock to them. They knew I was an outspoken girl and wouldn't let someone step on me. “Stubborn” was the word to describe me. I could see how she stared deadly at me while waiting for mother to stand up for her. Mother said nothing in response so after waiting, she walked while mumbling to the kitchen, to get a can of water. We ate quietly for a few minutes before mother cleared her throat. “Amelia, I need you to work harder at the warehouse. The people your father owe are asking for their money and making demands that I sell this house and pay them.” “What?” I and Cassandra gasp in unison. “That can't happen, mother. This house can't be sold.” She looked around with a dissatisfied look. “Even though this house is old, it's still better than the rat hole we came from.” “That's why we should work hard.” Mother responded. What they meant was “I” need to work harder than I already was. I was going to do that, if it means saving this house which my parents built with their sweat and blood. The house and the factory was the only inheritance I had which reminded me of my parents, I couldn't bear to lose them. “Mother, what should we do? I need to live in this house to maintain my status in this park.” She was whining. “Your status?” I asked, quite curious. “I know you'll not understand but this house is one of the biggest houses in the park even though it's old. So because I live here, most people see me as a high society girl and I can't lose that. My self respect is at risk, mother. Do something please.” That was all that mattered to her. Self respect! “That's why we all need to work hard, increase the hours we spend at the warehouse to increase profit.” Mother responded. “Mother, spending more hours at the warehouse won't increase sales, instead it'll wear us down. Why don't we get a manager that'll see to the affairs of the warehouse..” “When did you learn business?” Mother interrupted me. “I'm sorry.” I apologized. “I was only trying to make a suggestion.” “Your suggestion doesn't matter.” “Mum, I'll be off to go see Alpha Lycan, we have a meeting at the river bank.” “That's actually nice.” Mother replied. “Mother, you just said we should all work harder at the warehouse.” I glanced at Mother, eating the last bit of the scrambled eggs on my plate. “She'll come later on.” Mother responded, obviously not happy that I was boldly challenging her decisions. “Alright. You heard mother, Cassandra.” I picked up everyone's plate to the kitchen since Cassandra was also too big to wash her plates. I was not going to let the horrible mood of anyone spoil my birthday. None of them remembered that it was my birthday and I didn't bother to remind them. It was difficult leaving with both of them especially when both of them are always against me but it was my father that taught me to stand up for myself and not let anyone intimidate me. I carried my basket and headed for the factory warehouse where I would work for the whole day and still not get any rest when I got home. Today was different. It was my birthday so I decided to treat myself. I followed the long route to the warehouse, the route that passed through the river. I would get the chance to stop at the market, talk to the birds, sing and dance as freely as I want. Strangely and suddenly, It seemed like a strong force pushed me along. My wolf suddenly got excited. “What's the problem?” I asked. “Mate.” It screamed and didn't say much again. “Where?” I was dragged again, as I ran through the forest with my basket still in hand. “What's happening?” “Mate! Mate!” I stopped abruptly, I turned to see my sister Cassandra and Alpha Sebastian kissing by the river. Was he my mate? Alpha Sebastian?I stood there for a minute until he turned back at me. “What happened?” Cassandra asked, eventually finding out that I was there and that Alpha Sebastian was staring at me. “Why are you staring at her?” “That can't be him.” I whispered to my wolf. “That's the Alpha's son, the soon to be Alpha, Cassandra's boyfriend. How can he be my mate? Impossible.” With the way he was staring, I knew he felt the same way I felt. He realized too that his mate was standing before him. “No way.” I heard him scream before running out and Cassandra followed suit. Was I dreaming? How could it be that the Alpha's son, Sebastian was my mate? It was terrifying thinking about it but I couldn't stop the thought. I had mixed feelings about this discovery, did I like that he was my mate? I wasn't sure but since it was from the moon goddess, I would surely accept him. Maybe it was my destiny to become a Luna after all. I worked hard at the warehouse factory today, everything was looking good. After the wh
I sat in front of the mirror in Mother's room as the omegas helped me get dressed. It was a big day for me, not a happy one though. I was getting married to the most cruel Alpha and not for the sake of love but to pay my father's debt and to save his factory from being destroyed. Alpha Lycan was known for his cruel and wicked behavior to the people that crossed him. He was the strongest Alpha of the strongest park ever known. People knew him as an Alpha who cared about no one except himself. The Alphas of smaller clans stayed out of his way but here I am preparing to be his wife at eighteen. “Put on a smile.” Mother urged me. After our fight that night, I had thought about giving up my father's inheritance or getting married to a man I didn't know or love. I chose the latter and informed her, she was so glad to hear that. I knew she was not truly happy for me, she was only trying to pave a way for her daughter so she could marry the Alpha Sebastian. She had also been given gi
I walked into the party with my yellow dress. I'll see how the Alpha would ignore me now. The dress did wonders for me because I got stares as I walked into the hall. Kade showed me the right place to sit, beside my Alpha. As I sat, I could see the sudden flash on his face. He wasn't used to people going against his orders. “What's this?” I smiled and whispered to him. “You finally notice me, huh?” I smiled as I watched him, stare at me. I liked that I made him see that he wasn't just the rude one and I could do whatever I wanted to. As we sat throughout the ceremony which was basically an after party for I and Alpha Lycan, I could sense him staring multiple of times. I didn't know if it was because he found me attractive in this dress or because I went against his orders. “I want to know about your rejection.” I literally freezed when he asked me. How did he hear about that? Who informed him? “Well, I don't want to speak about it.” I told him, facing the ceremony. “I wa
The days that followed were filled with relentless work. Alpha Lycan assigned me various tasks around his mansion and the surrounding lands, testing my resilience and dedication. I worked tirelessly, driven by the promise of saving my father's factory. One evening, as I was organizing some files in his office, Alpha Lycan entered. His presence was imposing, and I couldn't help but feel a mixture of fear and admiration for him. "Amelia," he said, his tone surprisingly gentle, "you've been working hard. I must admit, your dedication is impressive." "Thank you, Alpha," I replied, trying to hide my surprise. "I'm willing to do whatever it takes." He nodded, his expression thoughtful. "I've been considering your situation. Your father’s debt is substantial, but your efforts have not gone unnoticed. I propose an alternative." My heart pounded in my chest. "What do you mean?" Alpha Lycan sat down across from me, his gaze intense. "I need a personal assistant, someone I can trust
Amelia arrived at the factory, the familiar sight of workers bustling around the warehouse bringing a sense of normalcy. She greeted them warmly, her mind already forming a plan of action. She knew the first step was to boost morale; the workers needed to believe in the factory’s future as much as she did. Gathering everyone in the break room, she took a deep breath and addressed them. “Good morning, everyone. I know things have been tough lately, but I want you all to know that I am committed to turning things around. We’re in this together, and I believe we can make the factory thrive again.” The workers murmured among themselves, some nodding in agreement, others looking skeptical. Amelia continued, outlining her ideas for increasing production and exploring new markets. She emphasized the importance of teamwork and innovation, encouraging everyone to share their suggestions and feedback. After the meeting, she felt a renewed sense of purpose. She spent the rest of the day wo
Weeks turned into months, and the factory’s transformation was nothing short of remarkable. The workers’ morale was at an all-time high, production was efficient, and new contracts were flooding in. The factory had not only recovered but was thriving beyond anyone’s expectations. Amelia and Lycan’s partnership had blossomed into something stronger and more profound. They spent long hours working together, their mutual respect growing with each passing day. There were still moments of disagreement, but they had learned to navigate them with understanding and compromise. One evening, as they were finalizing a major deal that would secure the factory’s future, Lycan invited Amelia to celebrate. They chose a quiet restaurant in town, away from the pressures of work. The evening was filled with laughter and stories, a stark contrast to their initial, tense interactions. As they walked back home under the starlit sky, Lycan turned to Amelia, his expression contemplative. “There’s so
As winter approached, the factory buzzed with preparations for the holiday season. Orders poured in, and the workers, motivated by the success and newfound sense of unity, worked tirelessly to meet the demand. Amelia and Lycan’s leadership had turned the factory into a well-oiled machine, and it was paying off. One chilly evening, as snow began to gently fall outside, Amelia found herself reflecting on the past year. The challenges they had faced, the relationships that had healed, and the love that had blossomed between her and Lycan. It was a journey that had transformed her in ways she hadn’t imagined. She decided to take a walk through the factory, wanting to thank the workers personally for their hard work. The sight of their dedication filled her with pride and gratitude. Each worker greeted her warmly, their respect and admiration evident. As she reached the end of the factory floor, she noticed a small group gathered around one of the machines, whispering excitedly. Curi
Amelia smiled, leaning into him. "Yes, we have. And it's all thanks to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. We couldn't have done it alone." Their dedication to the community extended beyond economic growth. They also focused on environmental sustainability, implementing green practices in the factory and supporting conservation efforts in the surrounding forests. Their commitment to both people and the planet earned them recognition and awards, further solidifying their reputation as visionary leaders. One day, a letter arrived from an international organization inviting Amelia and Lycan to speak at a global summit on sustainable business practices. The summit, to be held in Europe, would be a prestigious event attended by world leaders, renowned entrepreneurs, and influential thinkers. Amelia was thrilled at the prospect. "This is an incredible opportunity, Lycan. We can share our journey and inspire others on a global scale." Lycan agreed. "It's a chance to sh
