Chapter Two Hundred Fifty Nine

Henry.

That night we had dinner but Gwen still wasn’t herself, she was either lost in her thoughts or wasn’t eating at all.

I tried to ask her what was wrong every time but she didn't give me a better answer.

It was past nine and I had to put the children to sleep since she couldn’t do it.

“Good night Daddy,” Jason and Jasmine said simultaneously.

I smiled and placed a peck on their foreheads, “good night babies,” I whispered, adjusting the sheets on their bodies before getting up.

They both decided to sleep in one room since they have been doing that for a long time now and I had no qualms with that.

I turned off the light and walked out while closing the door gently behind me. I looked down at the hallway and saw no one before making my way to the room—to Gwen’s old room.

I’d expected her to have taken her bath and laid on the bed by now, but that wasn’t what I expected. Gwen was still in the dress she wore to court and hadn't taken her shower at all.

I stopped walking and looked at
