“Hope her things are ready?” I asked trying to break the awkward silence.

Henry nodded,

“Yeah, but I left some of her things here. You know, maybe she can spend a night here with me someday.” He said sounding hopeful and I didn’t want to break that little hope he had in seeing his daughter.

So I shrugged, not giving him an answer or denying his words either.

“Mommy, why is Daddy not coming with us?” Jasmine asked pulling from the hug.

My eyes met with Henry’s briefly before I brought them back to hers.

“Because Jas and Mommy need some time together. You know just me and you and no one else.” I told her hoping that would answer her question but she seemed to have so many of them.

“Why?”

“Because mommy needs to spend some quality time with Jasmine, don’t you want to spend some time with me?” I asked her.

She nodded her head.

“I want to.” She placed her head back on my shoulder, and I let out a sigh of breath knowing I had avoided her questions.
