Sophia’s POV

I leaned back in my chair, tapping the end of my pen against my lips, deep in thought. The soft afternoon light streamed through the large windows, illuminating the studio with a warm glow that spread over the scattered sketches and mood boards on the table.

Kayla sat across from me, her eyes glued to her tablet as she scrolled through various fashion inspirations. “Lila's new single is going to be a hit, no doubt about that,” she said, not looking up. “But we need her look to match her sound. Something that screams Lila.”

“Agreed,” I nodded, flipping through a stack of sketches we had accumulated over the past few weeks. “Her voice is so unique—sassy, quirky, with that hint of sexiness. And even her personality suits it! We need to capture that in her image.”

Kayla glanced up, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “What if we go for a mix of retro and modern? Like, think 70s glam rock meets contemporary street style. Bold patterns, metallic fabrics, but with a twist.”

The indecisiveness is so repetitive. We’re 254 chapters in and she’s never had more than a brief thought of potential attraction to Daniel and now you’re pretending she was falling for him? Also, Elijah has shown her over and over and over how he has changed but she always acts surprised. Annoying.

Sophia’s POVStanding in the garden of Elijah’s estate, I took a deep breath, feeling the warm summer breeze brush against my face. The estate was grand, with lush greenery and a meticulously maintained lawn. I can’t believe I used to live here and I never appreciated the garden so much before. I guess I was just too focused on my crumbling marriage at that time. Elijah stood beside me, his hand resting lightly on my lower back. He had just returned from France, and despite the weeks apart, the connection between us felt as strong as ever. We had kept in touch throughout his trip, sometimes falling asleep while on video calls. I have to admit, it feels good to have him back. Freya, the party planner, was animatedly describing the layout for the upcoming event. She pointed out various spots in the garden, explaining enthusiastically what each area is for. “The stage will go right over there,” she said, gesturing to a raised platform near the rose bushes. “It’ll be perfect for the

Sophia’s POVThe night was alive with energy as I stepped into the upscale club for Lila’s official debut. The venue was drenched in a sea of shimmering lights and deep purple hues, perfectly embodying Lila's glam, sexy, and sassy persona. “Wow, so cool,” I whispered with a thrill as I scanned the place. The walls had been decorated with silver and gold streamers that caught the light in mesmerizing patterns, while the dance floor pulsed with a beat that made you want to move. It was a perfect blend of high-end elegance and edgy chic, just like Lila herself.Kayla and I stood near the stage, swaying with the music and feeling charged with exuberance. Lila was a vision in a stunning sequined dress that glistened with every move she made. Her performance was electric, and the crowd was eating up every second of it. I couldn't help but feel a swell of pride as I glanced at Kayla. Her face was lit up with the same excitement I felt. The stage setup was flawless—bright, bold, and complet

Sophia’s POVAs the performance came to a close, the crowd erupted in applause, and Lila took her final bow on stage. She was instantly swarmed by media people, their cameras flashing and microphones thrusting toward her. Everyone was obviously caught up in the high energy, and the air was just electrified with the eager chatter, laughter, and screams of delight and excitement. Kayla quickly moved into action, stepping through the crowd to assist Lila and help manage the press. “I’ll be back,” she said to me and Connor, her voice hurried but firm. “Just keep an eye on things until I get back.”Connor nodded, his gaze also shifting toward Morgana. “Be careful, Kayla.”As Kayla moved off to join Lila, I found myself increasingly troubled. The sight of Morgana hovering in the background, combined with the chaotic energy of the media, left me on edge. I couldn’t get rid of the feeling that something was about to go wrong.Suddenly, a voice interrupted my thoughts. “She’s so beautiful and

Elijah’s POVThe morning after the launch party, I stood in the middle of a hectic conference room, teeming with various conversations and the flashing lights of cameras. Media personnel and industry professionals had come together for Lila’s press conference. As I waited for it to start, my mind wandered back to last night. Morgana had been insistent on confronting Lila and her dad, who had both apparently turned their backs on her already. It was a good thing Sophia and I were able to stop her in time and force her to head out and not cause any trouble — for her daughter’s sake. After that, we went over to talk to Lila’s father in order to gather some information about Henry. But then, he seemed to have vanished without a trace. Lila told us he had to leave early and handed over his contact number, promising we could set up a meeting before he returned to France. Now, as I glanced around the room, I couldn’t shake the feeling that time was slipping through our fingers. What if Hen

Sophia’s POVThe press conference was winding down, and I still hadn’t seen Elijah. I glanced around the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. I needed to tell him how well this turned out, thanks to him.Lila was on stage, wrapping up the final words of her speech. She looked composed, professional, and every inch the star she was meant to be. Her unique beauty and magnetic appeal captivated the audience.“Music has always been my passion, my way of connecting with the world,” Lila said, her voice steady and sincere. “I am thrilled to share this journey with all of you.”Her launch as a new singer had been a resounding success. Yet, I couldn’t help but wonder what she really knew about Henry's whereabouts. We would find out soon enough. As the applause died down, Kayla, representing Raven Media, joined Lila on stage for some photos. Cameras flashed, capturing the moment. Kayla looked radiant, her confidence palpable. I gave her a thumbs-up, which she returned with a quick smile.Th

Julia’s POVThe metal bars felt colder today, or maybe it was just my imagination. The days had blurred into an endless cycle of waiting and hoping, but today was different. My lawyer had stopped visiting me. The realization struck me like a sledgehammer, and my heart ached with the weight of it.I gripped the rough edges of my cot, trying hard not to fall apart completely. Why had he abandoned me? What had changed? My mind churned with possibilities, none of them comforting. It was during one of these spirals that the police officer walked by, his keys jangling at his belt. I called out to him, my voice trembling. “Officer, do you know why my lawyer hasn’t come to see me?”He stopped, his expression indifferent. “Your parents probably stopped paying him. The government might just assign you a new lawyer.”His words cut through me like a knife. My parents had abandoned me too? The people who were supposed to stand by me, to fight for me, had given up. I felt a surge of anger and betra

Elijah’s POVI walked into the TV network studio and immediately scanned the area, my eyes settling on the door to the set where Lila was wrapping up her guest appearance. My heart pounded with anticipation. This conversation had been a long time coming. The door opened, and Lila emerged, looking as poised as ever in her stylish outfit. Her eyes widened when she saw me, a flicker of surprise—and was it nervousness?—crossing her face. I stepped forward, forcing a smile.“Hey, Lila,” I greeted her. “How did it go?”She composed herself quickly, offering me a bright smile. “Elijah, hi! It went well. Everyone was warm and friendly. The public loves me, or so they say.”I nodded, not entirely convinced by her easy demeanor. “That's good to hear. But we need to talk, as you promised.”Her smile faltered slightly, but she nodded. “Yeah, we do. There's a cafe nearby. Let's go there.”We walked in silence to the cafe, the bustling city sounds filling the void between us. The cafe was cozy, a s

Sophia’s POVI pulled up to Grandma Evelyn's house, not knowing how to feel. Reese sat in the back seat, humming a tune from her recent piano lesson. I took a deep breath and turned off the engine, my fingers lingering on the key.Grandma Evelyn had been calling me almost every day, asking me to visit and bring Reese. Knowing now that I was her real, biological granddaughter—the real Sabrina—made everything feel awkward and weird. But I knew I had to face it eventually. Besides, Evelyn and her husband George had always been good and welcoming to me.“Ready, Reese?” I asked, turning to my daughter.“Yep!” she chirped, bouncing in her seat.We walked up the path to the house, and I rang the doorbell. Moments later, Grandpa George opened the door with a warm smile.“Sophia, Reese, come on in,” he greeted us, stepping aside to let us enter.“Hi, Grandpa George!” Reese exclaimed, giving him a big hug.“Hello, sweetheart,” he chuckled, patting her back. “Evelyn's in the living room.”We mad

Emily’s POVDarkened streets stretched endlessly ahead as we sped through the city, the glow of neon signs flickering across the windshield. The sound of other cars was distant, almost muffled, drowned out by the pounding of my heart. My grip tightened on the edge of my seat, eyes darting to every shadowed alley, every figure on the sidewalk. It felt like eyes were on us—watching, waiting.Chris’s grip on the wheel was tight, his jaw set in a hard line. He hadn’t said much since we got the warning. The burner phone lay silent between us, the last message still glowing on the screen:“Do not go to the docks. You are being watched.”I swallowed hard. "Who sent it?""No idea," Chris muttered. "Could be someone helping us. Could be someone luring us into another trap."My stomach twisted. "So what do we do?"He exhaled sharply, eyes darting to the rearview mirror. "We can’t risk it. If someone’s waiting for us at the docks, we won’t stand a chance. We haven't been able to reach Crimson Ve

Sophia’s POVJared was safe. That was all that mattered. We were gathered in the house, the weight of the night still pressing heavily on our shoulders. But at least Jared was asleep now, curled up in his bed like nothing had happened. He hadn’t seemed afraid, hadn’t even realized the gravity of what Antoine had done. And for that, I was grateful. The last thing I wanted was for him to carry fear because of this. But once he woke up, I knew I would have to face the reality of telling him about his father. And why it was only now that he was finding out about Antoine. “We’re not pressing charges,” I had told Elijah. But we did have to watch our backs more carefully, to stay guarded and alert all the time. And we needed to make sure never to let Jared out of our sights again. Still, we had made Antoine promise never to pull something like this again. Not that his word meant much. I didn’t trust him, and I knew Elijah didn’t either. This wasn’t over. Not really.Phoebe sat beside me,

My heart pounded in my ears, my breaths coming fast and shallow.“We need to check the parking lot exits,” Elijah said, his voice tight with controlled fury. “If Antoine took Jared, he won’t risk staying here much longer.”Elijah nodded, pulling out his phone and dialing Joe. The moment Joe answered, Elijah got straight to the point. “Antoine’s here. He took Jared. We need to know if he has a car registered in his name or any known places he might go.”I looked at Elijah in anticipation. He nodded then ended the call. "He said he'll get back to us soon."My eyes darted around the busy corridor, searching for any sign of our son.Jared, my sweet boy. Sophia’s POVI pushed through the crowded mall, my heart hammering in my chest, my breath coming in short, uneven gasps. The world around me blurred into a haze of faces and voices, none of them the one I was searching for. Oh, god, Jared. Please be okay.My mind screamed his name with every step I took, my hands trembling as I grabbed Phoebe’s arm, trying to keep both of us steady.“He has to be here,” Phoebe said, her voice shaking as she wiped at her tear-streaked face. “He has to be here somewhere.”I wanted to believe her. I had to believe her. But the sheer panic clawing at my throat made it hard to hold on to hope. Jared wasn’t just missing—he seemed to have vanished into thin air. And the longer he was gone, the worse the possibilities became.“Elijah’s talking to security,” I said, scanning every store, every passerby, searching for even a glimpse of him. “They’re checking the cameras. We just have to keep looking.”Phoebe nodded frantically, but guilt was etched into every

Elijah’s POVAcross from me, I gazed lovingly at my wife. Sophia looked beautiful, her hair framing her face perfectly as she sipped her wine. For a moment, I let myself pretend that this was just a regular dinner date, that everything was normal. But it wasn’t.“The food’s amazing,” I said, taking another bite of my steak. “You picked a great place.”Sophia smiled faintly, but the crease between her brows betrayed the worry she was trying to hide. “I’m glad you like it,” she said softly. Her fork hovered over her plate for a moment before she set it down. “Elijah… do you think Chris and Emily are okay?”I reached across the table, taking her hand in mine. “They’ll be fine,” I said firmly, though the weight in my chest made me doubt my own words. “The mob’s on its last legs. Even if there are survivors, they’re scattered and in no position to orchestrate anything.”She nodded, but her eyes didn’t meet mine. “I can’t help but worry. What if… what if some of them intercepted Chris and E

Sophia’s POVLennon, who had recently been transferred to a local hospital in the city, sat up in his bed, looking pale but stronger than I’d expected. Morgana sat by his side, her hand clutching his as if letting go would make him disappear. Her eyes were wet with happy tears, her face a mix of relief and joy that she was finally reunited with him.Elijah stood at the foot of the bed, his posture stiff, but his expression was open, filled with something I rarely saw: vulnerability. He cleared his throat, his voice low but steady as he spoke. “Lennon, I need to say something.”Lennon looked at him calmly. “Go on.”“I…” Elijah hesitated, then sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I’m sorry. For doubting you. For questioning your motives. You’ve done so much for all of us, for Morgana, for our family. And… I didn’t trust you the way I should have.”Lennon smiled faintly, shaking his head. “You don’t have to apologize, Elijah. I understand. With everything that’s happened, with all t

Sophia’s POV“It’s probably nothing,” I said softly, my voice trembling despite my effort to sound calm. “Let’s just wait and see.”The words felt hollow even to me, but they were the best I could muster as I sat beside my mother in the Bakers’ cozy living room. Her hands twisted the edge of her sweater, her eyes darting to the phones scattered across the coffee table. Every time one of them vibrated or rang, the room froze.“I can’t take this anymore,” my mother whispered, her voice breaking. Her shoulders trembled, and I reached out to squeeze her hand. “Sophia, what if something terrible happened? What if…”“Mom,” I interrupted gently, trying to keep my composure. “Let’s not think like that. Chris is strong, and so is Emily. They’re going to be okay.”Across the room, the television hummed with a cartoon, the cheerful voices of animated characters clashing painfully with the heavy atmosphere. The kids sat cross-legged on the floor, giggling at the screen, blissfully unaware of what

The words sounded hollow in the space of the car, but they kept me from drowning in my own thoughts.Another day had passed. Another day of silence. The news about the mob had been everywhere—the arrests, the seizing of assets, the public’s outrage. Vito was still out there, probably on the run, but with the walls closing in, it wouldn’t be long now. At least, I hoped not. The Crimson Veil and Arcane Network were relentless. They’d find him. And the authorities in two countries were doing their best in the search too.But my thoughts kept circling back to Emily and Chris. No one had heard from them, not even the Crimson Veil. Are they still traveling, trying to stay off the radar? Or are they in some place so remote they can't reach out? Maybe it's both. The uncertainty ate at me, each unanswered question pressing harder on my mind with every passing h

Then finally, the call connected. “Elijah,” Joe’s familiar voice came through, slightly hoarse but unmistakably alive.“Joe,” I breathed, relief flooding through me. “Thank God. You’re okay. I… I’ve been worried sick.”“We’re okay,” Joe replied, his voice steady despite the exhaustion I could hear underneath. “We got out before the explosion. Minor injuries, but nothing we couldn’t handle.”“And Lennon?” I asked, gripping the phone tighter.“Safe,” Joe assured me. “We managed to extract him just in time. He’s in the hospital now, recovering. It’s going to take a while, but he’ll pull through.”I released a breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding. “Thank God. Joe, I can’t tell you how relieved I am to hear this.”Joe’s tone softened. “We all are. It was close, Elijah. Too close.”I nodded, even though he
