“ Where is Ava” Grandpa Pascal strict voice sounded as he questioned Alexander.

I had to drop her off , giving her a card to sort herself, a pressing issue came up and I left her hoping to join her , I am just coming back from Fair boutique and didn't see her convinced she would be here already because it late , Alexander explained frankly.

You did what???? Granpa Pascal asked fuming in rage, he knew that Alexander wasn't totally into the marriage but he didn't just neglect the young lady….. did he?

You left her at the Fair boutique because a pressing issue came up? Did you consider how that would make Ava feel? What pressing issue? Grandpa Pascal blunted.

“ Grandpa, Linda fell in the bathroom and I had to rush to her , she suffered some bruises and by the time she slept off , that's was when I remember Ava and rushed back there thou I didn't expect her to still be waiting, Alexander replied.

“ You went to Linda when you should be picking out your wedding dress with your fiancee, what have you done? Didn't Linda know you are getting married that she still stick around you? Granpa Pascal asked in anger.

“ Don't be angry Granpa, I willl not let it repeat itself, I didn't mean to and I wouldn't be so insensitive to Ava again, Alexander gritted to pacify his grandfather.

“Of course you won't, now get out and go look for Ava and bring her back to this house, Grandpa Pascal frankly said.

Alexander didn't know how to calm the raging old man and decided to go check for Ava if he sees her and when he turned…..

Ava walked in at that moment looking confused but seeing that Grandpa Pascal was boiling, she had to interven. It turned out it was because of her disappearance that the argument was happening.

“ Granpa Pascal, don't be angry , I am fine now, I just branched by the restaurant to eat, I was feeling hungry because the  only meal I had taken for the day was the breakfast in the morning, Ava coaxed him.

“ Sorry Ava dear, I am glad you are fine , grandpa will make the cook prepare a feast and gets you fill, don't think too much about Alexander, he was just too busy and didn't mean to ……Granpa Pascal was doing what Alexander should have done.

Alexander settled on the couch and didn't spare Ava a glance nor an apology, he didn't even come up with an excuse for standing her up. The truth was Ava knew why he didn't show up at the Fair boutique but decided to shrug it off…..

“It's okay grandpa, I understand. Alexander will just have to make it up to me, Ava smiled

“ Yes dear, you know I have booked an appointment for your wedding rings tomorrow and the both of you can go there tomorrow, Granpa Pascal began.

“ I will be busy throughout tomorrow Granpa, I have a lot of work at the company to do, Alexander relaxed and calm spoke up.

“ Then you will find time, you both can create time by noon, get across to each other and go to the jewelry store to pick the rings, Grandpa Pascal finalized.

The following morning

Ava stepped out of the guestroom looking refresh and dressed casual, she had to accept the offer of grandpa Pascal yesterday to sleep over because it was late yesterday and she was feeling tired too. Grandpa Pascal had made her and Alexander stay in the same room saying they were engaged and soon to be married.

Ava was okay with it but Alexander wasn't, he wanted to leave the room to the study room claiming he had work to finish, she didn't have the courage to chase the owner of the room out and instead optioned to use the guestroom without grandpa Pascal knowing.

Ava walked to the kitchen to fix breakfast, but the maids were refusing to allow her, the cook insisted on preparing it and for her not to bother. Ava calmed them down and told them she was willing to cook and they should allow her.

Thou skeptical, they allowed her to and she began, the meals were very nice as the maid stick around to offer her any additional help, their whispers were about how good she was .

Just as time pass, the meals were done and with the assistance of the maids she set the dining table, she quickly went back in to freshened up and change to a corporate wear, she has an appointment at the hospital to meet up with.

Just as she came out and walked to the dining room, grandpa Pascal beckoned to her , he was already seated with Alexander who was looking handsome in his black suit, he was prepared to leave for the company but his grandfather always make sure they had breakfast together before he leaves.

Ava made herself comfortable and they had breakfast as the maid served them , she would have been glad to do it but she knew grandpa Pascal won't like the idea.  In the cause of eating, Granpa Pascal reminded of the appointment they both had by noon to get their wedding rings he had customized just for them.

Alexander nodded while Ava just stared at him, he noticed her gaze and asked why she was staring.

How will we contact each other, I have a busy schedule at the hospital and by when I am done , it would be noon and I could place a call to remind you to meet me up at a bus top so we can go together, Ava explained.

Alexander gave her a look and asked for her phone, he inputed his number and she called him to check, the phone rang on the dining table and she cut it. Ava felt happy for finally seeing the opportunity to get his line. Afterall it proves there is slow progress.

Grandpa Pascal nodded and urged to finish up and don't be late, Alexander stood up first and excused himself but his grandfather voice sounded always out to get him.

Drop Ava off before going to the company, be sensitive to your fiancee for once akwxbay, his grandfather said.

“I can't do that because it seems I will get delay by doing so , she has own car which makes me believe she wouldn't be having any difficulties at all , Alexander blunted and left.

That……grandpa Pascal complained.

Can't he be romantic even if you have your car , I mean isn't he suppose to see to your welfare and care for you, Granpa Pascal said to Ava who was looking calm.

“ Grandpa, I can manage besides as Alexander said I have my own car and I will get to the hospital without causing a y delay to him , I should also consider from his own side of view, Ava reasoned.

“ You are being too calm about this , he doesn't have the right to reject you so long I am here, Granpa Pascal firmly said.

Ava looked at the old man and felt emotional , it's been so long someone stood up or care for her the way he is doing, the old man was just too kind to her and sniffed making the old man look over to her face.

“ Don't worry, grandpa will make him come around and you both will live in love after marriage, Grandpa Pascal patted her back.

“ Grandpa Pascal, thank you, Ava sniffed.

**********

Ava walked into her office after a brainstorming session in the theater, she had been busy immediately she stepped into the hospital and just got off and looking at the time, it was noon.

A fellow colleague rested half her body at the entrance of  her office door and asked, “ Ava do you want to grab some lunch at the cafeteria?

Ava looked towards her and politely declined. She would have love to but then she needed to call Alexander to meet up cause it was already noon and he haven't called her.

Thou she was hungry and need the nutrient since she has busy and just got a break , this was rather more important as she picked up her phone and dial Alexander's number. The first trial rang but no answer.

Ava took off her coat and settled down on the chair, she tried his number for the second time and still no one answered.

When she dialed it the third time, it got answered.

“ Hello, who is this? A female voice which clearly belong to Linda sounded.

Ava was speechless and didn't know how to answer.

“ Anyone? Well , Alexander is using the bathroom and is unavailable, you can call back later to check up on him, Linda said and hung up.

The sun was beginning to set, casting an orange glow over the neighborhood as Alexander made his way home. His hands gripped the steering wheel, his mind racing with anticipation. Ava's due date was approaching quickly, and every day felt like a countdown. Despite all the preparations, he couldn’t help but feel a growing sense of anxiety creeping in. He wasn’t scared of the responsibility. He was terrified of losing them—Ava, the twins. The thought had gnawed at him for months, and now, as he pulled into their driveway, it all felt too real. His phone buzzed on the seat beside him. My baby love flashed across the screen. A soft smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. Ava must be getting impatient; he was only a few minutes from home, but it seemed like the entire world had shifted in these last few weeks, time stretching and contracting with every passing hour.He reached for his phone, hands still on the wheel.“Hey baby, I’m almost home. You don’t…” His voice trailed off as the car

Ava’s eyes fluttered open, the harsh hospital lights blinding her for a moment. Her head felt heavy, and her limbs felt foreign, as if they didn’t quite belong to her. She was surrounded by the rhythmic beeping of machines and distant voices. It all seemed muffled, like she was underwater, struggling to reach the surface. But then, she felt something. A warm, comforting pressure on her hand. She turned her head, and there he was—Alexander. His face was so close, inches away, his dark eyes staring at her with an intensity that sent a flutter of nerves through her chest. His hand was wrapped firmly around hers, holding it with a strength that made her feel both safe and vulnerable. His other hand brushed through her hair, gently sweeping it back from her face, his touch so tender it made her heart ache.“Ava,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “You’re awake.”Ava blinked, trying to gather her strength. She gave him a weak smile, wanting to reassure him, even though her body fe

Ava's world was a blur. Her eyelids felt impossibly heavy as she forced them open, her vision swimming with shapes and shadows. The air smelled damp, thick with something metallic—blood, perhaps. Her head throbbed like it had been split in two, and her limbs felt like they didn’t belong to her anymore. Then, through the haze, a figure appeared.Linda.Her lips curled into a victorious smirk, her sharp eyes brimming with cruel satisfaction.Ava blinked hard, but the scene remained the same. Linda was standing over her, dressed in an elegant white dress, looking completely untouched by the filth and darkness surrounding them. Her blonde curls were perfect, her makeup flawless, as if she had walked right out of a palace and into this nightmare. But it wasn’t Linda’s beauty that made Ava’s stomach churn—it was the expression on her face. She had won. And she knew it."Finally awake?" Linda’s voice dripped with amusement, her arms crossed as she studied Ava like a cat watching a wounded bi

Linda’s pulse pounded as she stood before Alexander, waiting for his reaction. His silence stretched between them, thick and unreadable, his piercing gaze drilling into her. For the first time in years, she couldn’t decipher what he was thinking. She had expected anger. Maybe a confrontation, accusations. Instead, he did something she never saw coming. He smiled. Not the cold, sharp-edged smirk she had seen before. No. This was slow, almost lazy, as if he had unraveled some great truth.Linda hesitated, thrown off.“I must have worried you,” she murmured, masking her unease with a breathy chuckle. “You’ve been gone all night. What happened?”Alexander exhaled deeply, rubbing a hand through his hair. His posture, once stiff with controlled fury, now eased into something almost vulnerable.“I lost my temper,” he admitted, voice low, as if exhausted. “I’ve been chasing shadows, letting my emotions control me.”He took a step closer, and Linda held her breath. His tone had shifted—softer,

Alexander sat in the dimly lit study, eyes fixated on the laptop screen while Liam worked tirelessly beside him. Neither of them had slept.Sleep was a luxury they couldn’t afford—not when Ava was missing. The room was silent except for the sound of Liam’s fingers flying across the keyboard, searching through databases, cross-checking records, and digging deeper than ever before. Alexander’s mind, however, was in chaos. His chest was heavy, his thoughts dark.Ava had been acting off before she disappeared, and he had ignored it.Now, every interaction replayed in his head—her distant stares, her hesitation when she spoke, the way she avoided his touch. He should have paid more attention.Liam suddenly inhaled sharply, breaking the silence.“I found something,” he said, his voice tense.Alexander straightened, eyes sharp. “Talk.”Liam turned the laptop toward him. On the screen was a list of hotel logs, timestamps, and security reports.“The Mayfair Hotel,” Liam murmured. “She was ther
