Linda's Place
Linda sat on the couch in the living room as she came out of the bedroom dressed in a casual wear. Alexander urged her to sit and gave her coffee to drink . He walked towards the center table and picked up the first aid box. Alexander stiff figure attended to her bruised elbow and ankles, he was looking annoyed and reprimanded her. “ Why weren't you careful that you had to slip in the bedroom? What if something had happen and it was more severe? “ I am fine now aren't I? I was just sad about your marriage thing and didn't pay attention to what I was doing, Linda said while sounding sad. Alexander felt guilty, when he came in, he went into the room and saw her sitting down on the cold floor in the bathroom , she was looking pitiful and he was scared. He picked her up and left her in the bedroom to dress up after picking a dress for her. He didn't have the courage to keep scolding her and just attended to her wound. “ Just be more careful, I am not going anywhere okay? Alexander coaxed her. Linda nodded her head in response, she watched how attentive he was towards her while sipping the coffee he gave her. She knew that Alexander loves her and no one would compare to her in his life, not even Ava. Her cunning smile creep in on her face, she got the info from one of the maids in the mansion on what he was up to, she knew where he was and had called him, he rushed back to her which proves a lot. Her man was still hers, married or not. Linda cunning smile wiped off replaced by a charming smile when Alexander looked at her , Alexander expression couldn't help but soften when he saw it. He had been really worried about how much she was holding up, he knew he cares alot for her and that is not going to change. When he finished with treating her, he packed up and went to the kitchen to get snacks for them , he could tell she was feeling bored all alone and he could as well keep her company. Alexander settled into the couch and Linda face lit up when he picked up the Tv remote and asked what channel she preferred, she answered and they watched it together. Linda felt happy and was happy Alexander decided to stay, her earlier gloomy self was gone as Alexander filled up every thought of her mind. Alexander and her spent the day enjoying each other’s company without bringing up any issue concerning his marriage. Hours flew by and Linda slept off, her eyelids closed up as she rested on Alexander’s chest looking contented. Just as she slept off, Alexander recalled he had an appointment with Ava and told her he would join her later. He totally forget and after making Linda comfortable, he left . ***** Ava stood dejected at the boutique entrance as she realized Alexander had stood her up. The wedding dress was packed and she had it in her hand, her eyes glimmered in sadness. She was feeling really hungry and decided to branch by a restaurant to eat. The attendants had gave her a long look at how long she has been hanging around and she was already drawing attention already. She observed how couples troupe in with excitement and decided their preference for their wedding, she on the other hand….. She had been starving since noon, the food she had taken was the breakfast she had in the morning. She walked ahead and sighted a restaurant. She walked in and placed her order, the waitress served her in few seconds and she couldn't eat much base on her ruined mood caused by Alexander , but then on a second thought, she decided to shrug it off. She knew how much Alexander cares for Linda and he wouldn't just stop simply because they were getting married, she would just have to keep turning a blind eye. With this mind, she regain a considerable amount of her appetite and had her meal, the meal was nice as she enjoyed it. She knew she had to be ready and know a lot will happen during this phase between her and Alexander, so yes she isn't going to be bothered and stay sad. The time frame will be on Alexander as she would walk her way into his heart, time they say does wonder. ********** Alexander got out and entered his car when the door was opened for him, his driver took off when he slide into the backseat and headed to the boutique as instructed. His mind was debating on if she would still be waiting or probably left. He didn't know for sure and needed to check to be sure . The car drove into the boutique and parked and he came down, he walked in a steady pace commanding respect as he navigated himself into the large Fair boutique. He checked out the reception for her if she was probably there and was still waiting, he couldn't find any trace of her. He scanned the entire floor that he was but didn't see any figure of her , she would at least be standing or sitting where he could access her easily. But then she might probably be at the mansion because he didn't expect her to wait that long when she could have access her dress and go back , the time was far gone even if everywhere was still busy, he had been so carried away by his concern for Linda and forgot about it. Alexander decided to get his suit fully convinced that she was already back at the mansion with his grandfather, he got his preference and left , while outside even in his car , he looked around to be sure she wasn't there. His car rode out finally out of the Fair boutique towards home, he knew that Linda would still be asleep by now and he would call her later when she would have woken up. The car drove into the house as he stepped out, picked up his packaged suit and went in. He got to the sitting room and saw his grandfather relaxed on the couch watching TV. The old man has improved a lot and was looking happy, he was happy to see him happy, he didn't really know much on Ava but then his grandfather was fond of her. He walked fully in and acknowledged him, his grandfather turned his head and his eyes beamed on seeing him. His grandfather’ s eyes lingered on his back for few seconds expecting someone but when he clearly saw he was alone , his stare became strict as he asked…. “ Where is Ava?“ Where is Ava” Grandpa Pascal strict voice sounded as he questioned Alexander. I had to drop her off , giving her a card to sort herself, a pressing issue came up and I left her hoping to join her , I am just coming back from Fair boutique and didn't see her convinced she would be here already because it late , Alexander explained frankly. You did what???? Granpa Pascal asked fuming in rage, he knew that Alexander wasn't totally into the marriage but he didn't just neglect the young lady….. did he?You left her at the Fair boutique because a pressing issue came up? Did you consider how that would make Ava feel? What pressing issue? Grandpa Pascal blunted.“ Grandpa, Linda fell in the bathroom and I had to rush to her , she suffered some bruises and by the time she slept off , that's was when I remember Ava and rushed back there thou I didn't expect her to still be waiting, Alexander replied.“ You went to Linda when you should be picking out your wedding dress with your fiancee, wha
Ava was rendered speechless because she wasn't even given the time to reply before Linda hung up on her. Her face lost it colour as she recalled what Linda said over the phone.“ Alexander was in the bathroom, she should call back later” Alexander was in the bathroom doing what when she had called his line now thrice and he hadn't stepped out of the bathroom, did he and Linda have sex in his office? Different thoughts rang in her head as she picture different scenario that could have occurred. She paced around her office, on a second thought should she just go over to his office ? Linda was there but Alexander wouldn't like the idea of her coming to the company even if he permitted Linda. With the idea crossed out, she sat back into her chair and decided to just wait and call him back.******Alexander stepped into his office commanding respect with his tensed shoulder showing exhaustion, he rubbed in-between his brows to clear some thoughts and saw the sulking figure of Linda on the
Ava dial Alexander's number for the fifth time since the failed attempt of no one picking, she discovered her line got blocked by him.He blocked her line……..Ava felt anger building inside her as she tried to convince herself he didn't do it intentionally, but then she was sure he was done in the bathroom by now and would have seen her call , he probably didn't save her line either because the question Linda had asked her of who she was ,was enough to conclude.Disappointment was an understatement of how she felt , she felt anger and jealousy, didn't Linda inform him when he came out of the bathroom that she had called him and didn't he see her call or he saw her call and still decided to block her?She felt so little and she knew that Linda would be making fun of her right now, she was clearly stating that she had a upper hand concerning Alexander but then she didn't know who she was, could she and still pretended? All this was just in her head and she was already feeling an headach
I didn't block your line, I didn't see your call, what do you have to say to justify that? Alexander blunted. Now, you will both have to calm down for each other and that can only be happen if you both allow me to inter here, Grandpa Pascal said while looking at the both of them. You didn't think to be serious about your upcoming wedding, you are here casting unnecessary blames about, well I want to hear both side of the story and then the we know what next, Grandpa Pascal finalized.Ava explained her own and Alexander followed suit, grandpa Pascal didn't want the issue to prolong and instead focused on the ring which was on the table. The designer phoned that he would be honored to deliver the rings himself and I didn't oppose since I realized it will save us the stress, I didn't even realize you both didn't follow up as planned, Granpa Pascal said while giving the two of them a glance.Ava didn't react much as Alexander excused himself instead, she watched his departing figure with
Pascal's Enterprises Ava drove into the company , she stepped out and mesmerized by the towering skyscraper before her , the company was looking so huge and it always has a way of making you feel fascinated anything you look at it.She walked forward and entered through the entrance, she didn't really know her way around but headed straight to the reception arena anyways, the receptionist was polite as she asked what she wanted.“ I am here to see Alexander, I am his fiancee, Ava said. The receptionist who was polite and had a calm expression switched to a displeased one when she heard her words, when she looked at Ava all over , she admitted she was looking beautiful and presentable but then this wasn't the first time such ladies would walk in here shameless throwing themselves at him, she even has the nerve to say she was his fiancee which no one would believe because everyone is aware who the boss' s woman was and it was Linda. When Ava saw that the receptionist didn't reply her
Ava walked to her car by the side , she has wanted to see him walk out on a second thought and when he finally came out , she saw him with Linda going out. Her finacee treated his girlfriend with so much care.Ava decided to head to the hospital to finish her session for the day, things haven't been going well as it looks ,as she is just hoping for them to just get married and all this will reduce, her fiancee by then would pay attention to her.Ava believes she can make the marriage work out , she would pour her love, her commitment, her dedication to be enough for the both of them, she would do so much to make Alexander fall for her and by then she won't have to worry about Linda, because Alexander would be the one to tell Linda off. With this satisfying thought, she left to the hospital.*******At night Alexander sat in the living room listening to his grandfather as he talked to them about the wedding which was in a few days.“ Ava and you haven't had time to sit and discuss, to
Ava watched him carefully, his screen was displaying Linda' s name and she knew what would come next , he would probably take the call or excuse himself, she just hope none of it happened.Alexander picked the call , he spoke few words to Linda and the call ended. He calmly placed it back and she waited few minutes for him to say something but the initial silence stretched on instead till the waitress brought the food over to them. She calmly had her meal as Alexander excellent fingers scooped the food with the spoon to his mouth, she had to pause and check him as he had his meals with precise elegance, this man was so upright and exude an air of supremacy the way he does , she could already tell how charismatic his way of things were. When she saw that he was about to raise his eyes towards her, she diverted her gaze and his hoarse voice sounded after that.“ Why are you not eating? Alexander asked and she could bet his lips were stretched out in a curve while smirking.Ava knew he c
The rays of light peeked into her room as Ava eyes flickered open on the bed , her hands stretched out as her curled form straightened out on the bed, she ran her hands to her hair which was spread out on the bed , her eyes drank in the early morning glow of the room from the sun ray.Wait…. Room???? Bed?Ava sat up quickly on the bed , she slept on the bed but she didn't remember walking to the bedroom, she clearly remember how she was waiting for Alexander to come back yesterday, it was very late already and she still waited even when she saw where he was spending his time, she still waited and she dozed off afterwards. How come she woke up on the bed when she slept off on the couch the night before ? Ava rubbed her brows thinking, did Alexander came back and took her up? Cause that was the only way she could think of. He was clearly the one, but should she ask him ?No she won't , he would probably talk down on how she didn't mean anything and how he just thought to be kind and onl
Alexander stood by the doorframe, watching Ava with a tenderness that he rarely allowed himself to feel. Her chest rose and fell with the rhythm of sleep, her face soft despite the evident exhaustion. He leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss on her forehead, lingering for a moment before pulling back. The dim light of the room cast shadows across the walls, and as he straightened, a resolve settled over him. Ava needed time to recover, and he would make sure she had it. Turning quietly, he exited the room, shutting the door softly behind him.Walking into the living room, he spotted Monica arranging a vase of fresh flowers on the table. She looked up as he approached."Ava will stay in bed for a while longer," Alexander began, his voice steady but tinged with concern. "Get her some food, something light but nourishing, and take it to her room. Make sure she doesn’t wake up hungry. Stay nearby in case she stirs awake. I’ll be in the study."Monica nodded, her features reflecting the r
Ava leaned against the kitchen counter, brushing a strand of hair from her face as she took a deep breath. The aroma of roasted vegetables and freshly baked bread filled the air, mingling with the faint hum of laughter from the living room. She had worked tirelessly to make the evening special—a feast to celebrate Alexander’s recent breakthrough. Her heart swelled with pride when she thought of him. For weeks, he had poured every ounce of himself into his work, and tonight was proof that the sleepless nights and endless planning had paid off. She wanted to honor that. She wanted him to feel cherished.“Ma’am,” Monica’s voice broke through her thoughts. The housekeeper’s warm smile matched her tone. “The dining area is set, and we’re ready to go. I’m so happy for you both.”Ava returned the smile, though exhaustion tugged at her features. “Don’t stand on ceremony, Monica. We made this happen together. You’ve been with us so long, you’re practically family now.”Monica’s cheeks flushed
Alexander woke up, instinctively reaching for the other side of the bed. His fingers brushed against the cool sheets, and a sense of emptiness gnawed at him. Blinking away the remnants of sleep, he stared at the vacant space beside him. The absence of warmth signaled she had been gone for some time. His eyes darted toward the clock on the wall—6:15 a.m. Too early for her to be up, he thought. His chest tightened as unease crept in. His mind immediately conjured worst-case scenarios, fueled by his protective instincts and an irrational fear he couldn’t shake.Throwing off the covers, Alexander swung his legs off the bed and stood. His rumpled hair and unkempt look mirrored his internal disarray, but he didn’t care. He needed to find Ava. The thought of her being out of sight, even for a moment, unnerved him.He hurried down the hall, his footsteps echoing faintly in the quiet house. As he approached the living room, he was met with silence. A quick scan revealed nothing out of place, y
The sunlight seeped through the curtains, casting soft golden rays onto the living room floor. Ava reclined on the plush sofa, her hand protectively resting on her growing belly. The room was calm, save for the rhythmic ticking of the clock on the far wall. Alexander sat beside her, his dark eyes searching her face for any sign of discomfort.“I know for such that something like this needs your utmost rest,” he began, his tone low yet firm. “And I hope you’re willing to compromise. Your job could be held till you’re out of bed and back to your feet.” He paused, gauging her reaction. “You need to prioritize yourself now.”Ava’s lips curved into a slight pout, her fingers playing with the edge of her blouse. “But what if I get too bored?” she teased, though her voice carried a hint of genuine concern.Alexander leaned closer, his presence exuding reassurance. “Baby, I know, and that’s why I won’t go to work every day. And when I do, I’ll make sure to come back early enough. Is that okay
Ava stirred in her sleep, turning over in the dim light of the room. Her soft, supple body pressed against Alexander, her leg brushing over his thigh. The subtle pressure and her intoxicating warmth sent a jolt through him, and his eyes flickered open. The faint glow of the bedside lamp cast a golden hue over her serene face. Her head rested on his chest, her breath soft and rhythmic. She shifted slightly, and her cheek brushed against him, causing him to stiffen beneath her.Alexander’s jaw tightened as he suppressed a groan. He didn’t need this—not now, not in the middle of the night when his self-control was already hanging by a thread. But the way she nuzzled closer, seeking comfort in his embrace, made it impossible to stay detached. Her hazy eyes blinked open slowly, and for a moment, their gazes locked. She looked up at him, her expression drowsy but undeniably alluring. “Hmm… baby, are you awake?” she murmured, her voice a blend of sleep and mischief.Alexander swallowed hard,
Alexander sat across from Grandpa Pascal on the porch as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. The air was light, filled with the chirping of crickets and the occasional rustle of leaves as a breeze swept through. Their laughter mixed with the sounds of the evening, making the moment feel surreal—peaceful, even. After everything they’d been through, these moments felt like stolen treasures.“What’s next now, Alex?” Grandpa Pascal asked, his voice steady but curious.Alexander leaned back in his chair, his eyes reflecting the fading sunlight. “I want to start fresh with her, Grandpa. Redo everything.” He let out a soft chuckle, though it didn’t hide the hint of regret in his tone. “We could have another wedding, make new memories, and even renew our marriage certificates. You know, I never signed the divorce papers. I was just… stupid back then. I lost her because of my own mistakes.”Grandpa Pascal nodded thoughtfully, his wrinkled hands restin
Ava woke up the next morning, the sunlight gently filtering through the curtains. The house was eerily quiet, save for the faint clinking of dishes coming from the kitchen. She padded out in her silk robe, her steps light but deliberate. When she entered the kitchen, her gaze fell on Monica and Janet, who were busily chatting while preparing something. Their faces lit up as they noticed her.“Mrs. Pascal, you’re awake?” Monica’s voice carried an excited warmth that made Ava’s lips curve slightly. “We were just discussing going grocery shopping. Is there anything specific you’d like us to get?”Ava paused, taking in the genuine enthusiasm on their faces. These two women had been a constant presence in her life, even during the times she had wanted things to be different and for Alexander to at least see her. She owed them more than she cared to admit.“Well,” she began, her voice softer than usual, “if you don’t think I need anything after considering everything, then I trust you’ll ma
Ava stood in front of the full-length mirror in their bedroom, the soft morning light filtering through the blinds, casting long shadows across the floor. Her reflection showed a woman on the edge of a new chapter. There was no denying it now—her life was changing in ways she hadn't fully processed. Her hand instinctively moved to her stomach, the subtle swell a constant reminder of the life growing inside her. Her heart fluttered at the thought. She was pregnant. The weight of the word still felt surreal. She had always been the one in control, the doctor who could solve any problem, who had all the answers. But this... this was different. This wasn’t something she could just fix with science or experience. This was something completely outside her realm of control. It was raw, unpredictable, and so deeply personal.Turning around, she found Alexander leaning against the doorframe, watching her quietly. His presence always had a way of grounding her, calming the storm of emotions she
Ava sat on the edge of the bed, her hands resting lightly on her abdomen, her mind racing. The news she had received earlier that day was still a blur. Her mind struggled to wrap around the reality of it all. She had felt the change, the shift in her body, the strange sensation growing within her. And now, she was certain—she was pregnant. The weight of the realization was too much to bear, too much to grasp all at once. How could everything change so suddenly? Was she ready for this? Was they ready for this? The room around her felt strangely still. She glanced at the clock, noting how much time had passed since she had learned the news. It seemed like an eternity, but in reality, it was only a matter of hours. Hours that had stretched endlessly as she tried to process everything. She had come back into Alexander’s life just three years ago, hoping for a fresh start, a new beginning. But here she was, facing another unexpected twist, a new chapter in a story that had been anything bu
