It was supposed to be a beautiful day. I had just left the hospital that morning after spending the night beside Samantha, watching over her. The doctor said she was getting better faster. I could tell because she could recognize some things and some people. I helped her by showing her pictures of our daughter, Noah, and she was able to recognize her.

The doctor had told me that if she was reminded of people or moments that mattered most to her, she was going to remember things faster and using that approach had been helpful.

I got out of the hospital and approached my car when I received a call from the manager of the second biggest company, which my family and I had developed over the years and worked tirelessly to build.
