I felt both thankful and tense in my heart as I walked inside the ward where the man who had saved Owen was getting better.

He was lying on the bed with a coat pulled over him, bandages on his head, and stitches on his arms and chest.

There was the cold, hospital smell, only accented by a faint trace of the blood smell; everything felt so real.

As Navian and I entered, the man turned his head, and my breath caught in my throat. I knew that face.

I stood frozen in place, my mind racing to make sense of what I was seeing. The man lying in that hospital bed, badly injured but alive, was someone I never expected to see again.

"Luna?" The sound of my old title, spoken with such familiarity, snapped me out of my thoughts.

It confirmed what I had been dreading. This wasn’t just a random stranger; it was Mikel.
