Back then, my dad was still part of the ground crew at an airport. He was very honest and down-to-earth back then. He also respected my mom's career.

My mom had some feelings for him, but she remained rational. She had already seen cases of women who were the only child of well-off families swindled by awful men. They weren't just hurt. They also had their fortune stolen from them.

"If you truly loved me, why would you be eyeing my money?" was the mindset my mom had.
