Chapter 14. Kids Want Claire

Madison kept banging on the gate, screaming Jason Bradford's name.

She screamed for over an hour with no one answering until the guards finally kicked her out.

She cried in despair.

Besides, she had seen how he treated her friend that day, Jason hated Claire so much and even wished her dead, there was no way he would be willing to save her.

It was simply impossible.

She thought she shouldn't have come here to beg that cruel man.

At the window on the second floor of the mansion, Mandy looked toward the gate and saw Madison leaving. She chuckled triumphantly and thought: "You want to save Claire? Oh, you're dreaming."

Shortly after Madison left, a car pulled into the courtyard.

Arthur carefully carried Calvin, who had been released from the hospital after recovering, while Kimberly obediently followed them.

As soon as they entered the house, Mandy approached and quietly said, "Let me take Calvin to his room."

"No need, I can take him back to his room." Arthur avoided Mandy and went upstairs.

Mandy narrowed her eyes and muttered, "What a cheeky old man! You'll see, when I become madam of this family, I'll kick you out."

"Auntie..."

Mandy suddenly heard Kimberly calling out to her. She was surprised, but quickly turned the hatred in her eyes into tenderness. "Kim, what's wrong?"

"I hope you don't call me Kim anymore, only those closest to me can call me that."

Mandy was embarrassed, her heart was full of jealousy and hate, but she still smiled gently: "Okay, I won't call you Kim. I'll call you Kimberly. Now, what did you want to tell me?"

"Why are you here?"

"Your father asked me to look after you," Mandy replied with a soft smile of fake affection on her face.

"Oh, well, I'll tell my father later that we don't need your care. We have Arthur and our own nanny." With that, Kimberly walked up the stairs to Calvin's room.

Mandy looked back coldly, and she was really angry.

If it wasn't for the fact that Jason loved his children so much and she had to pretend to be nice to them to get him to marry her, she would never have allowed the children to be so arrogant in front of her.

All these years she had waited, unexpectedly Jason would rather let his two children grow up in a single parent family than marry her, which made her angry.

"Arthur, when is my dad coming back?" Kimberly asked at Calvin's bedside, feeling a little bored.

Arthur gently touched her head. "Your father's only been gone a few days and you miss him already?"

"Yes, I love Daddy very much, and... Mom."

Whenever children mentioned their mothers, Arthur always felt a little sad. He smiled kindly, "Your father will be back in ten days, and when he returns, you should tell him that you miss him very much. That will make him very happy."

"Yes, all right."

Just then, a squire came and said to Arthur, "Sir, there's a madwoman screaming outside the courtyard gate, and Miss Mandy has ordered us to chase her away."

Arthur frowned and touched Kimberly's head. "I have to go out, you stay here and accompany Calvin."

"Okay." Kimberly climbed onto the bed and began to pester Calvin, who still looked limp.

AT THE END OF THE CORRIDOR.

Arthur looked at the bodyguard and asked, "What crazy woman are you talking about? Is she the woman Mr. Bradford brought home that day?"

The bodyguard shook his head. "No. This woman has never been here before, but she kept screaming Mr. Bradford's name, saying that Claire Wynne was going to die, and begging him to save her."

At the mention of Claire's name, Arthur's face changed. Could it be that Mrs. Wynne hadn't died five years ago, and that the madwoman Mr. Bradford had brought home that day was Mrs. Wynne?

He had suspected it before, but he didn't dare to ask Jason about it. After all, the faces of this woman and Claire were slightly different.

But what danger was Mrs. Wynne in? He hurriedly looked at his bodyguard, "Where is this woman?"

"She has been expelled."

TEN DAYS LATER.

As soon as Jason arrived at the airport, Arthur rushed over to him, took his suitcase in his hands and said worriedly, "You must be very tired, I'll take you home soon."

After leaving the rest of the work to Paul, Jason followed Arthur and got into the car.

He rubbed his tired eyebrows and asked in a low voice, "What has been going on at home these past few days, other than Calvin's special condition?"

Arthur hesitated for a moment and said, "Ten days ago, a woman came to the house and made some noise."

Jason was silent and listened.

Arthur thought for a moment and went on: "At that time, this woman kept calling your name, saying that Mrs. Wynne was dying and begging you to save her immediately."

Jason still said nothing.

Arthur could only look in the rearview mirror to see that Jason's eyes were slightly closed, expressionless, making it impossible to guess what was on his mind.

Arthur pursed his lips and thought, 'Does he no longer care for Mrs. Wynne? But Mrs. Wynne could really be dead, couldn't she?' And then he couldn't help but speak again: "Sir, she said Mrs. Wynne..."

"Dead?" Jason said suddenly, which stunned Arthur for a moment.

"That's..."

"Claire, is she dead?" Jason's tone was calm and he didn't look worried at all.

Arthur remained silent.

Jason suddenly laughed coldly and said: "She really likes to play drama, next time you meet this woman, tell her that if Claire really wants to die, I'm ready to help her."

Arthur looked at his cold and hateful face, then took a deep breath. There were many things he wanted to ask, but he knew he had no right to.

AT THE BRADFORD MANSION.

"I don't want to eat, I just want to see Aunt Wynne and I'm asking you to leave my room!"

As soon as Jason got to the door of Calvin's room, he saw several bowls thrown and broken on the floor. He silently looked at the grumpy kid in the room and his face turned grim.

Arthur had only said on the phone that this child often threw tantrums and wouldn't eat, but he didn't think it was because of Claire.

At that moment, he saw his favorite son lose his temper because he wanted to be with Claire, and it broke his heart.

The woman was a liar, and she was so evil. What was he going to do to make his son forget Claire? It seemed that bringing Claire home that day was a big mistake.
