Giving cold-shoulder

He wheels himself into the bedroom after reviewing the files for tomorrow’s meetings. His eyes roam around the room. Charlotte isn’t here. He glances at his wristwatch; it’s already past midnight and she’s not in the bedroom.

A stinging pain presses on his heart. He wheels back around and checks the rooms on the first floor. The guest room is locked from the outside. She’s not on the first floor. When his gaze shifts upstairs, he notices the light in Suzy’s room.

So, she’s in her room. Edward exhales sharply, staring at the room from downstairs for a long time before returning to his own room. He feels guilty for the words he said to her. He feels responsible for hurting her. Like she said, she wants to give her future to this relationship, but he has decided to give his future to her.

But things aren’t going as he planned. He still remembers the day he first met her. Her shiny eyes weren’t on him, but those eyes made him stop breathing for a few seconds.
