Chapter 18 –  Walking On Thin Ice

(Lexi’s POV)

“Wait!” I shouted, running toward the elevator and telling the last one who entered to hold it open for me.

I took my ID card, tapping it immediately on the small screen to open the turnstile, giving me access to enter the company. The employee held the button, waiting patiently for me while I ran toward them like zombies were chasing me.

“Whew!” I breathed out, closing my eyes and stopping in front of the elevator for a second to catch my breath. I didn’t know why I had to run like nuts when I was still an hour earlier than my official working time, but I wanted everything to be ready before Finn arrived at the office.

“Are you okay?” He asked.

I nodded, opening my eyes. “Thank -” I bit my bottom lip, but my heart stopped beating when I saw who owned the finger still pressing the hold button.

“Thank you,” I said in a panic, walking immediately inside. Frank only released his touch on the button when I was inside the lift.
